Could you recommend shampoo & conditioner without the nasties

Currently using Treseme shampoo & conditioner for frizzy hair and then a silicone glossing serum. I have naturally wavy hair (not coloured) which I comb wet, apply serum and scrunch and leave to dry into waves/curled - it's below shoulder length.

It still often looks dry at the ends and not glossy. I recall reading that switching to products without sulphates and silicone often reaps benefits. What should I be looking for?

Treseme is nasty
I have frizzy hair and Aussie shampoo suits, but buy the best S&C you can afford.

If your budget stretches to it, go for L'anza shampoos and conditioners. They are sold in some hairdressers and on the internet. Your hair will love you for it.

Meant WITHOUT the nasties obviously!

Is Aussie free from sulphates & silicones then? Will look into Lanza - not heard of that thanks. Ideally like something that I can get in Boots.

Ogx organix works well for me and often on deal at waitrose.

I just swapped over to herbal essences with argan oil and my hair is noticibly heavier (although I do love the smell!)

KoalaFace · 17/06/2014 20:43

I liked the L'Oreal EverRiche S&C.

Here

Beaverfeaver2 · 17/06/2014 20:55

That loreal stuff looks good. Does it smell nice and not leave it weighed down?

KoalaFace · 17/06/2014 21:00

Smells lovely!

Its silicone that makes my hair weighed down so not at all. Not for me anyway!

Hanginggardenofboobylon · 17/06/2014 21:03

I have been using Devacurl bought from amazon. It's the stuff made/endorsed by the woman who wrote the curly girl book. It's not cheap but my hair has totally changed. I have gone from bonnie Tyler 80's perm to lovely soft ringlets.

Artandco · 17/06/2014 21:04

Dr organic . The coconut one is amazing

ChippyMinton · 17/06/2014 21:04

another vote for L'Oreal everpure in whatever variant suits your hair.

RawCoconutMacaroon · 17/06/2014 21:09

Any organic brand. I use drOrganic ... They do the full range of toiletries, their lip balms and deodorants are really good too.

Fcukfifa · 17/06/2014 21:09

I think tresemmes naturals range doesn't have sulphate a and silicones.

Also some cheap non branded s&c's.

Aussies definitely do because I read the ingrediants yesterday in the bath Grin

I'm not sure about the sulpates but I read that the silicone isn't necessarily bad for your hair but it can mask damage so you may think you have lovely soft hair but it will just have a coat of silicone over the top.

Joico kpak restoration treatment is fab at restructuring the hair, it is packed with protein. I used to go on a forum where people was bleaching and dying their hair lots of colours and this is the go to product for treating hair.

Fcukfifa · 17/06/2014 21:10

Please ignore any stupid spelling!

Ooh a few to look at - thank you. Will check those out this eve and buy something new tomorrow.

The only product I use (other than shampoo & conditioner is John Freida Brilliant Shine). I used to think it helped, sometimes it does but other times my hair looks limp and the natural waves drop out. Whst should I put on instead? I have tried Moroccan oil but whilst my hair is lovely & silky it makes it too straight/flat.

Naked - bought it in Boots

RooCluckers · 17/06/2014 21:12

I use timotei pure as is silicone free. Completely revitalised my hair and smells gorgeous!

InfoNeededPlease · 17/06/2014 21:13

I should add my hair is in good condition. Cut every 8 weeks and gave up blow drying & straightening a year ago in favour of drying naturally in waves which need as much help as possible to make curl.

I like Liz Earle shampoo.

soaccidentprone · 17/06/2014 21:15

Or Korres from Waitrose.

Hanginggardenofboobylon · 17/06/2014 21:34

Try the curly girl method for washing and styling. I use the Devacurl gel for styling. I may well have been brainwashed into the whole franchise but it seems to work for me!!

iwantgin · 17/06/2014 21:41

Green People. Aloe vera shampoo and (forgot which one) conditioner.

I have a lot of hair which falls nicely into waved if left to dry.

The green people products do make my hair feel lush.

Economical too as uou only use a pea sized blob. I can make a shampoo last me almost six months and I wash my hair most days.

Kundry · 17/06/2014 21:45

I have fine naturally wavy hair - took me ages to see that wavy is NOT the same as curly!

I love the LOreal Everriche for fine hair, both shampoo and conditioner and Kerastase Bain de Force. Plus Kerastase Elixit Ultime (rammed full of silicones but hair lurves it and doesn't make the waves drop out) - Kerastase products clearly from when I was feeling rich but I actually think the Everriche is better.

I've had much more joy looking for products for fine hair which don't weigh the hair down and so allow the waves to do their thing, than products aimed at curly hair.

daimbardiva · 17/06/2014 21:53

I like everstraight keratin, I often wash w the conditioner only a la Curly Girl. Has really made a difference to my wavy hair - much more manageable and in better condition

daimbardiva · 17/06/2014 21:54

I know it's called everstraight but it doesn't straighten, just smoothes. It's made by organix

CeeceeBloomingdale · 18/06/2014 07:19

Body rainforest range has transformed my dry frizzy hair. It's now soft and much tamer therefore looks glossier
