Bra Ladies - Bikini recommendations for small backs, large boobs

I've got a couple of Freya ones from years gone by but need a new one this summer, and would like to come in under the £60 mark.

Anyone tried any good ones? I am a 28G

It depends a lot on your breast shape - Freya, Panache, Curvy Kate and Bravissimo all do some lovely cup sized swimwear. Another one to try is Hoola - although you may want to size up to a 30 as I found the band ridiculously small!

meditrina · 10/06/2014 17:52

I've had good swimwear from Bravissimo. Also from Lands End (as I'm large all in addition to norks) and although their sucky-in swimwear has increased a lot in price in the last couple of years, it's very good and accommodates big boobs.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 10/06/2014 18:38

I recommend the Hoola bandeau style halter necks. Worth getting a couple of sizes to try. Great support and style.

Quite a few in the sale on their site and also on Asos.

Stokey · 11/06/2014 11:33

Ooh thanks - I've never heard of Hoola so will give that a go

Breast shape is fuller at bottom than top & have breastfedd 2 DC so not as firm as they used to be but no seperation issues -definitely need soem support though!

Another vote for Hoola and I've also just bought a Bravissimo one (Sienna) which is very flattering (30GG).

Karbea · 11/06/2014 11:56

I've never heard of hoola either. I'm currently sporting a few mimi holidays, panache and bravissimo own brand. I'm 28ff so very similar size.

SorrelForbes · 11/06/2014 12:00

Bugger, I've just ordered another Hoola bikini Blush

Karbea · 11/06/2014 12:04

Bikinis are gorgeous! Wish I'd seen them before I'd ordered mine.

Stokey · 11/06/2014 12:24

Which one did you order Sorrel? I've gone via Bravissimo for free returns while I get my size sorted so am trying this Hoola one in 30FF & 28G. Also trying this one which was cheap and love the colour, but just read the description and it's padded so will probably be going straight back Confused. I don't understand why they think F/G cups need padding!

as I always recommend, check ebay. If you don't mind that it's not the latest collection, you can nice brands there for quite a bit cheaper than £60

SorrelForbes · 11/06/2014 12:41

I ordered the Chevron one from the Hoola site. The Hoola ones on Bravissimo are lovely but not really my colours.

hillyhilly · 11/06/2014 12:44

I got a great Freya one (32G) off ebay last week, loads of choices and they come in around £35. They are probably last years stock but I don't see how that matters

Stokey · 11/06/2014 13:02

Chevron one is nice

I go a good Freya one from eBay last year Hilly - the only issue is returns

I got a hoola bikini last year. My first ever one. I bloody love it, the main reason I have lost ton of weight the past few weeks it the fact I am dying to wear it again this year on holiday. I am a 30 e

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 11/06/2014 17:57

Glad we are feeling the Hoola love Smile

I have bought two bikinis this year and much prefer the Hoola one to the Bravissimo one. I can't link here but if anyone is interested in buying a 'worn once' halter neck in I think a 30ff please let ms know. I think it's a Freya but will check.

I much prefer the Hoola bandeau style to the other halter style which fits less well imo. I actually liked the bandeau style so much that I bought the matching swimsuit. I'm not sure if the swimsuit is available any more but it is very flattering. And was half price.

SorrelForbes · 11/06/2014 20:19

What I love about the Hoola bandeau style bikini tops, is that the straps come right from the outside/side of the cup (rather than the top) which reduces that underarm bulge/gap thing you sometimes get. The straps also fold down really easily into a strapless top.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 11/06/2014 21:17

Sorrel we are as one. I love those aspects of the Hoola top too. I also find it slightly minimising in a good way.

I have the blue one and the blue swimsuit and the swimsuit has the same pluses imo plus a slightly retro feel.

ShoeWhore · 11/06/2014 22:27

Like the look of those Hoola bikinis but they don't go up high enough in the cup sizes for me Sad

I usually go to Bravissimo and let them sort me out.

alemci · 11/06/2014 22:32

anyone bought a tankini top with support. I am a 30e bra but buy size 10 tops and skirts. I would probably buy 32dd to get tummy coverage and fit. does that sound sensible?

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/06/2014 08:03

Tankinis are hit and miss
They're generally awful if you have a narrow waist compared to your hips as they just roll up in to the waist.

alemci · 12/06/2014 10:52

I've got a tummy and I don't feel comfortable exposing it but I like the tankini as it is more versatile than a one piece.

I find those vest tops roll up my waist in the way you described.

Stokey · 12/06/2014 11:03

I did buy a couple of tankinis post DD2 in summer 2012 and never got on that well with them - the rolling problem, the fact they actually cover up your narrowest bit and show your widest bit and most importantly you don't get a brown tummy!

The ones I have are quite pretty though - think they were Freya

Be careful with the Figleaves own brand - I bought a nice strapless one (bigger size) a year ago, put it on and when I came to take it off the plastic part (fastening) at back had snapped in half. I returned it, but it was in a sale and I just got a refund.

Luckily they were good, I said it shouldn't have snapped off.

I think I have a Freya one too and another one - can't think of brand. go for underwiring if you need it (despite my friend looking at people wearing them at lido at weekend and not liking them!). if you need support you need support.

SuperFlyHigh · 12/06/2014 11:35

Hoola looks great but it were me buying I'd go for their sale options first. then no need to go to hassle of returning it!

alemci · 12/06/2014 11:54

I don't tan well anway so it is more a case of me wanting to cover up. Also I prefer something that doesn't show off too much cleavage either. I am 47 and a bit past that look plus I burn there.
