How long does it take to style your hair in the morning?

I just brush mine - but DD's is more high maintenance

She thinks anything more than a minute is unreasonable - so how long do you take?

If I need to straighten it all - 15 minutes. Otherwise it's just straighten the bits that look messy - less than five.

If I washed it every morning it would be an extra hour and I value my sleep too much for that!

SinglePringle · 10/06/2014 08:02

Ha! 15 mins to blow dry and then lightly run straighteners through. 20/25 mins if I'm going out that evening.

But I have a hairstyle that requires straight hair.

SinglePringle · 10/06/2014 08:03

And I wash everyday.

libertytrainers · 10/06/2014 08:05

blow dry straight (from dry don't wash) takes minutes but i have no time to do anything more

Hopefully · 10/06/2014 08:11

About 1 minute (wet it down, leave to dry while I dress, apply wax), but I have regular haircuts to keep it that way! If I got 8 weeks between cuts I find it is taking me longer and longer to style each day. I have dead straight hair in an asymmetric bob.

Wishfulmakeupping · 10/06/2014 08:11

I brush it that's it but when I wash it (every 3rd day) I properly blow dry and curl the ends which takes about an 35 mins but it means I don't have to do anymore with it then

TheDudess · 10/06/2014 08:21

If I wash it then about ten mins to blow dry it.

If not washing it then I just tie it up in a bun, takes about a minute.

Nocomet · 10/06/2014 08:26

As long as it takes me to find where the DDs have hidden the hair brushes.
Ie two minutes or it doesn't get brushed at all.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/06/2014 15:00

Blow drying takes ten minutes with a parlux drier, used to be twenty mins plus.

Mumelie · 10/06/2014 17:00

Wash it everyday (needs it!). Blow dry approx 7 minutes, straighten, about 5 minutes.

MrsMarigold · 10/06/2014 17:06

Blow dry in 4 minutes - hairdressers love it because it is straight, thick and just falls into place.

IWillYeah · 10/06/2014 17:16

Wet in the shower and condition in the shower (only wash once a week or it gets dry).

Rough dry for about 2 mins.

Go over layers with BBH - about 8-10 mins

Spritz with hairspray and shine spray and done.

MrsFlorrick · 10/06/2014 17:29

About 4 mins if I've washed in the shower. About 1 min if I haven't.

I wash in the shower, wrap towel around it while I get dressed and apply slap. Then quick brush through.
I then leave it to dry naturally whilst I wash dress and feed DC breakfast.

I then use my babyliss big hair for about 2 mins just to dry off the last bits and style it.

Looks pretty good mostly. I have a chin length bob. And before you all shout Mumsy and boring, I've had a chin length before a decade before I became a mother. It just really suits me and isn't boring on me.

starfishmummy · 10/06/2014 17:35

Um. Today. No time at all. I didn't even brush it as I was running late and forgot Blush

Ragwort · 10/06/2014 17:36

Brush - 30 seconds - tie in pony tail Grin.

Don't care if I do look mumsy and boring.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 10/06/2014 17:42

About a minute, it's below the shoulders, wavy/curly and layered. If I've washed it (which is twice a week) - quick blow dry to to the crown to give that a dry and then left to dry naturally (tied up in winter otherwise too cold). Takes about 2 hours to dry.

If it hasn't been washed, I run a wide tooth comb through the crown and leave the lengths curly, maybe straighten my fringe. I run my fingers through the curls randomly over the next hour or so before I get to work. If it is on the last day before washing or the weather is hot I will put it in a bun or ponytail, or clip it up with a claw clip, all of which take about about 30s.

TheFairyCaravan · 10/06/2014 17:45

About 10 mins since I had it cut short!

I wash it every morning, in the shower. Rub some serum into it, blow dry it, then run the straighteners through the top otherwise it looks half done.

Toothytwo · 10/06/2014 20:15

When people say bobs are mumsy, what sort of bobs do they mean?

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 10/06/2014 20:17

On days I wash it, 3 seconds.
On days I don't, 30 seconds tops.
Love my curly hair.

Northumberlandlass · 10/06/2014 20:31

I was & dry hair after exercise classes in the evening (I sweat A LOT). Then run straighteners through in the morning. I have masses of hair but usually takes around 5-10 mins.

I wash my hair 4 times a week.

happyis · 10/06/2014 22:52

Oo oo I've always wondered this! I have very thick hair, and lots of it! Since having my kids, it has developed a strong wave/ not quite curly curl.

I have to wash and blow dry in the evening and use straighteners in the morning. To do all of my hair takes around 40 mins or longer!!! So I just normally do the bottom half then tie the top half up (clips won't close in my hair) that is about 20-30 mins or whenever my arms start aching.

In this weather, I go to bed with wet hair as it is cooling, then bung it up in a pony tail in the morning. Takes about 1 min.

The only good thing about my hair is that I can get away with washing it once a week if I have to but usually go 4-5 days.

If I'm going out I now just pay the hairdresser to do it!

cosmicstardust · 10/06/2014 23:25

I cornrowed and braided mine years ago, it's great, I do nothing Grin

DP's takes ages because she's high maintenance. DD has really long, thick, curly hair and hers is an absolute nightmare, we've started braiding it overnight now because otherwise it takes ages to brush it out.

MrsBungle · 10/06/2014 23:32

I wash my hair every day. Usually, I just leave it to dry naturally. Therefore, it takes about 1 minute to brush it.

Sometimes I'll dry it and run the ghd's through if if I can be arsed. That would take 15 mins. If I'm going out I would probably dry, straighten and then curl so closer to 25 minutes.

Floisme · 11/06/2014 06:57

30 seconds or, if I wash it, 3 minutes 30 seconds. Slap on some stuff, mess it about, job done. You're all insane with your blow dries and your straighteners Grin.

Blackjackcrossed · 11/06/2014 07:14

Less than 5mins, rough dried bob...taken a while and a bit of experimentation for me to perfect the blow drying to achieve rough with a slight kink and no fuzz, but it's worth it because otherwise my bob looks a bit safe/Tory wife.
