I would say whatever he's used to - don't make it any more confusing!!

KTeepee · 04/09/2006 11:33

If he's recently toilet-trained, definitely go for something that's elasticated at the waist so easy to pull down quickly. I think I used hand-me-down jogging bottoms a lot at this stage with ds1 (don't rerally like them generally though). Ds2 is nowhere near potty-trained so will go in his normal clothes!

IdrisTheDragon · 04/09/2006 11:34

DS wears normal clothes. Think his pre-school is talking about having optional polo shirts (but can't remember ).

am
dare i say ckothes withotu you killign me

alexsmum · 04/09/2006 11:37

yeah kteeppe that kind of what i was thinking.that jogging bots are easiest.

he will go in pull ups at first as not totally reliable and would have to pack 4 spare outfits otherwise but they have said they will take him to the loo with the others anyway, so want to make it easy for him.also thinking of clothes getting wrecked with paint or wahtever.

god-can you tell i'm nervous?

OP posts:
alexsmum · 04/09/2006 11:38

no you daren't.

OP posts:
HUNneyOnToast · 04/09/2006 11:38

i know! i was ratther suprised
think ti slipped their mind that he was new as ds1 went htere too.

he did look dandy though - i dint tkae a change as i coudlnt imagine hed need it

HUNneyOnToast · 04/09/2006 11:43

oh your hair smells so loverly

Flamesparrow · 04/09/2006 11:44

DD is just in her normal clothes, but the least loved ones so if they get paint stained/sent home with someone elses child never to be seen again, I don't mind so much.

(I am aware that not everyone's child has enough clothes to dress 5 families like DD seems too )

alexsmum · 04/09/2006 11:45

well, he hasn't really had a visit at all. they told me they were doing the settling in in july and they just come cold turkey in september.i pointed out that ds has trouble remembering whathe had for breakfast and that no way would he remember what happened in july , in september.iyswim.
so they are settling him in this week so we have all this to come.

OP posts:
HUNneyOnToast · 04/09/2006 11:45

rinse em in cold water first
that gets the paint off

Flamesparrow · 04/09/2006 11:59

Didn't with DD's summer trousers

God know what happened to them... tried to dye em going with the theory that paint stained, so dye would take - but they just ended up dingy WITH PAINT STAINS!!!

alexsmum · 04/09/2006 12:00

lol!
school uniform is so easy isn't it?
wish they did a pre-school uniform.

ds2 wrecked a lovely red and white striped t-shirt with elc paint recently.washable my fott!

i did hte uniform for ds1 then htoguth god they w ear uniform f or years so ds2 and 3 have not bothered

SSSandy · 04/09/2006 12:06

What she wanted basically. She isn't keen on skirts/dresses so mostly trousers with an elastic waistband that she could pull up and down by herself. Basically my criteria were that she could get things on and off without aid (including shoes) and that they were loose and comfortable. She doesn't like plain things so I had to get tshirts with a picture on the front. Zip-up jackets if she could cope with the zip or v-necked sweatshirts which she could easily pull over her head.

expatinscotland · 04/09/2006 12:07

She wears very grubby clothes, exactly as they specified. Nursery is for playing, and they make no guarantees that the paints or glues they use are washable.

ghosty · 04/09/2006 12:12

Ditto expat ...
I have a selection of paint stained longsleeved tops/tshirts and tracksuit bottoms (all ruined by pre school) and she wears that. Looks a right state but for some reason they have never heard of art aprons. She comes home with paint on her face and in her hair too - they never stop her ... all child led learning ... fab stuff

alexsmum · 04/09/2006 12:17

so what should i expect when he starts? will he be tired out for a few weeks? clingy? weepy?
or just the same as ever but dirty?

OP posts:
MerlinsBeard · 04/09/2006 12:19

ds1 starts in a few weeks and i will send him in his ordinary clothes but the clothes that don;t cost lots to replace! Have had horror paint sleeves from playschool! They can wear school uniform for preschool though which, as ds1 will go to the school, we are looking into for after xmas (again depending on the paint situation!)
