MID LIFE CRISIS.....

Oh well, they had 20% off today in h&m, tried them on weeks ago and LOVED them, walked out shop telling myself I was FAR too old to wear them & to get a grip.

So I just bought them online instead. I'm mad right?

I'm late 30s and I have sequin shorts. I couldn't give a toss what anyone thinks. I like them and that's all that matters!!

melissa83 · 04/06/2014 18:09

Hmmm not the 'real woman' thing again depends what you look like.

TroyMcClure · 04/06/2014 18:10

i HATE the idea that there is an age limit on clothes and came to it reluctantly.

althought the BR monogram shorts were ok - just too flaredy

Stepawayfromthezebras · 04/06/2014 18:11

I think they're fine for wearing on the beach. As long as they're dressed down like the OP's planning, they're fine.

TroyMcClure · 04/06/2014 18:15

sequins make me feel hot in sunlight, you know when people have the on t shirts?

Bunbaker · 04/06/2014 18:16

"i HATE the idea that there is an age limit on clothes and came to it reluctantly."

I agree (I am ancient). However, there are just some styles I don't like, and one of them happens to be clothes with sequins on.

madammecholet · 04/06/2014 18:24

I agree with you all tbh, I'd NEVER wear them out, but in my garden or on the beach I reckon I'll pass with alot of fake bake

It's also the confidence you have wearing them, i'm going to have to be in the right 'mindset' to wear them on the beach in public - I reckon with a plain navy vest or white T they'll look fine....

Also, they're not tight & trashy, they're very loose and boxer like.... Wink

Love 'em. I have bad legs for shorts wearing - but would have those if i could.

lazypepper · 04/06/2014 18:39

I did on first reading the title think you had bought sequin shoes. I would most definitely wear sequin shoes!!

defineme · 04/06/2014 18:48

They will be perfect with vest and flip flops. The picture hss styled them all wrong for the casual cut. if you are a gamine type all the better. You feel happy when you look at them.

Floisme · 04/06/2014 19:53

Ooh I love a good shorts at 40 thread. The last one was fabulous Grin

Op, I am firmly in the camp that says, 'why not if your legs are still good enough?' However some posters find the idea deeply distressing because your face doesn't match your legs and it frightens horses and small children. Or something. There will probably be someone along in a minute to explain.

TroyMcClure · 04/06/2014 20:01

lol

thats the thing! It IS inexplicable

threepiecesuite · 04/06/2014 20:07

Wear 'em, I say.
I wear shorts on nights out, and I love playsuits. I'm 34 with a face like a bag of spanners but decent long slim legs so why not get 'em out?

Minnieisthedevilmouse · 04/06/2014 20:08

I bought black lace ones from there. I love them. I'm a 16. Give a monumental fuck what anyone thinks.

Got better legs than most anyway. Ha! Wear what makes you smile then you always look good.

Minnieisthedevilmouse · 04/06/2014 20:10

You really wanna piss people off wear them with flats. And still your legs will look better than theirs.

Just jealousy!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/06/2014 20:34

I was so tempted to get sequin shorts for work Christmas party but dp and best work friend were so horrified by the idea that I didn't. I still sort of regret it tbh. I like shorts, but would only wear them in the winter with opaques, and probably not sequin ones after my party bubble was burst.

:(

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/06/2014 20:34

I want some black lace ones - mid thigh.

TroyMcClure · 04/06/2014 20:37

i saw some in H and M and BR have some too

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/06/2014 20:39

Gorgeous - expensive though. Topshop have mega-cheap ones but will prob be more like knickers!

Lottapianos · 04/06/2014 20:41

Please IGNORE the hand wringing brigade! You love them and think you will look good in them so bloody go for it! Clothes should be enjoyed not agonised over

Definitely second the opaque tights idea

dexter73 · 04/06/2014 20:44

I don't see any hand wringing.

kickassangel · 04/06/2014 20:54

won't they chafe?

otherwise, go for it. why shouldn't women wear shorts at certain ages? I don't hear complaints about men wearing shorts even in their 80s.
