Hell fire what to wear to posh wedding

jocastafantastica · 03/06/2014 21:09

Please posh ladies help me!

I am going to a wedding in a blooming cathedral next month, it is black tie and cocktail dress/evening dress affair, what the frig should I wear???

I posted here yesterday with some dresses I liked from pretty dress co (can't link thread from iPhone but it's titled 'can I wear navy to a wedding'), however since then DP has casually mentioned this criteria! I am a commoner at heart but do scrub up fairly well, 5'7, 40 yrs old, 12/14 hourglass shape big boobs.......

Any suggestions/advice great fully received :)

oh it has a weird hem.. BOO

twoboots · 03/06/2014 23:20

i like this one from your pied a terre list, but it may be considered a bit easy access!

TroyMcClure · 03/06/2014 23:22

i got the reduced one and I am a similar shape to you - the black wasnt as nice fabric as the blue, weirdly

TroyMcClure · 03/06/2014 23:23

plan to wear to summat with these remarkably comfy shoes

beanandspud · 03/06/2014 23:25

Something like this? I have a similar one that I wore to a posh wedding with heels and a matching bag.

TroyMcClure · 03/06/2014 23:27

thats the one!! perfect for your shape OP

wear a vest if its freezing and marks 7 denier nde tights

twoboots · 03/06/2014 23:34

not beanandspud's blue!! its the same colour as Marge Simpson's hair.
I love that hem on the mintvelvet, I didnt seem the grey in store

TroyMcClure · 03/06/2014 23:36

Lol at blue. Good point

beanandspud · 03/06/2014 23:40

Twoboots Completely agree. I meant the midnight one rather than the Marge blue!

jocastafantastica · 03/06/2014 23:53

I love the pied a terre ones will order midnight slinky to try tomorrow when on laptop, the Boden one I like is called selina but reviews say it doesn't flatter a large bust.
It is day do at cathedral 3pm, I have to get ready in record time at hotel.
It's the hair/accessories thing I'm worried about now - I really cannot bear the thought of 'done' hair or fascinators, surely a decent blowdry will be acceptable?

Thanks for so many suggestions will give them a good look through and start ordering by the truckload...then I can begin stressing about shoes and bag! Am hoping for a heat wave to avoid shrug/cardi/jacket dilemma, fingers crossed :)

No hair accessirues. Not chic

CointreauVersial · 04/06/2014 00:09

I just bought this Phase Eight dress for a wedding this weekend.

TroyMcClure · 04/06/2014 00:10

Comfy shoes. Look at the Mary portas range she did for clarks a couple of years ago. High, sexy but comfy. eBay

TroyMcClure · 04/06/2014 00:14

These were my sale bargain

TroyMcClure · 04/06/2014 00:14

Love the blue cv

jocastafantastica · 04/06/2014 00:16

Like the phase eight dress but have to be careful with too much pattern over bust.

Shoes wise.... Ones I already have that may be suitable....a pair of navy suede peep toe high back heels, Westwood Melissa blue heart sling backs or nude high leather peep toes, hoping to avoid having to splash out on a new pair. All this for people I have never met and prob won't see again!
