Help me decide how to get my hair cut

Transfiguration · 01/06/2014 17:31

I am thinking about overhauling my look so debating on changing my hair.

I want to get it cut and maybe some highlights.

I haven't decided how short yet and need to decide if short hair is actually the way forward for me based on my face shape and features.
Opinions gratefully recieved :-)

It looks absolutely beautiful as it is.

Why not just experiment with wearing it different ways?

Transfiguration · 01/06/2014 18:24

Thanks Bloodywoma, just feel like I need a change if that makes sense.
My hair is actually about a couple of inches longer than in the photo ( its about 3 months old) as well.

You look stunning and I wouldn't put high lights in it, it doesn't need it at all! I think it would lift it a bit if it wasn't so heavy at the ends.

Transfiguration · 01/06/2014 18:34

Sorry meant BloodyWoman

Dame Thanks.
It is very heavy as my hair is quite thick but straight so the weight drags it down a bit.

You have gorgeous hair!

I would avoid highlights - your colour is fab but agree that the style could do with a wee freshen up. Get some of the heaviness taken out of the ends. Maybe a fringe?

Transfiguration · 01/06/2014 18:39

Thanks Eyeliner
I have always avoided highlight dye because of the damage it causes in the long term but as I get older I wonder if I will have to lighten it as the greys come in.
Would you lovely people suggest keeping the length?
How could I freshen it up?

I think a Vidal Sasson stacked bob would look stunning on you. Keep it long enough so it just curls under the chin (no fringe) but graduated in the back.

You have beautiful hair that is thick and a lovely colour -it would showcase it and accentuate your lovely features.

Milmingebag · 01/06/2014 19:31

Google Vidal Sassoon Nancy Kwan bob. Sorry can't link on iPad.

Cocolepew · 01/06/2014 19:39

Thanks milminge and cocolepew
I had a similar bob. couple of years ago and liked it.
Shall I keep the colour as it is?
Would this be too short?

I think loooooong and straight would look fabulous... With some long layers for a bit of movement perhaps?

whereisshe I had long hair for many years in my 20s but think it might be aging now.
The woman in the photo has lovely hair though!

I like the shaggy one - my hair is rather like that Grin

Cocolepew · 01/06/2014 19:56

Love the first and third picture

Transfiguration · 01/06/2014 20:06

I like the first and third out of the 3 too...decisions decisions

You are lovely (and astonishingly young!). I like the shaggy one - I think if you got just a tiny bit off the length, and then some layers and a long, choppy side fringe, that would look really good (although it looks great already too).

Transfiguration · 01/06/2014 20:24

Thanks Remus you are too kind. I feel quite old when I see all the young mums in their early 20s or even younger on mumsnet.

The shaggy one is cute but I wonder if it will look pretty shaggy or just like shaggy from scooby do on me after a week :-D

The shorter style up thread that you had before would grow out into the shaggy style.

Is your hair really straight or is there a bit of a wave when the weight is taken out? Mine is a little wavy when not too long & that shaggy style scrunches up well & is easy to sort out in a hurry Smile

Transfiguration · 01/06/2014 20:32

Yes i had forgotten about posting the short style on its own... I am still strangely attracted to it but wonder if I would be able to carry it off?
My hair is pretty straight short or long though the weight of it flattens it more when its longer.

OP posts:
WitchWay · 01/06/2014 22:42

I think you could carry off the short style - it will only grow, after all Grin

WisemansBridge · 01/06/2014 22:47

My hair is exactly the same as yours transfiguration except you have a nicer face shape so could pull off a shorter style I bet. Mine is awful short so I have no choice but to keep it long/longish. I dye mine a chestnut brown and have some layers put in it so it isn't too heavy, that could be something to think about?

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 02/06/2014 21:25

I think if you're tempted to go short, then you should just go ahead and do it- everyone should try short hair once in their life! What about a Frankie?
