Bra gurus - please help!

I've lurked a little, and measured...and now am feeling brave enough to post....

So, I come in at 32.75" underneath (though if I pull the measure really really tight I'm 32"), and 38" in the oh-so-unattractive bending over position. Currently in a 36B, which doesn't fit in many, many ways, but I'm thinking 32E/F might be more like it, which is a bit of a shock to the system!

Please could you lovely ladies advise on sizing and possible brands/styles, etc.

TIA.

Fantasie have been the best fitting previously. Off to john Lewis today!

Update: Having to wait for Cleo Juna - dispatch delay....

I also ordered a Freya Lauren 32E, more because I really liked the look of it than from recommendation!

Have tried it on and the band is a perfect fit, though it really accentuates my sticky-out left rib that lies just under my boobs.

Left boob fits perfectly after scooping, but I think my right boob might be narrower - even after asymmetric scooping and shoulder strap adjusting, there is still a bit of puckering of the right cup.

Any suggestions? Smile

Does anybody buy bra's from George at asda..? After measuring using mumsnet guide I tried on loads of bra's in George.. None of them fit and all made me look flat chested, or boobs bulging over cups Hmm
Maybe I should venture else where

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/06/2014 18:36

What sort of size range are you in Toast?

ToastMakesMeHappy · 03/06/2014 18:44

Well my measurements came up as 40 and 45 so assuming 40 dd.. I tried that size, 38d, 38dd and 40d... None of which fit.

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/06/2014 20:56

I wouldn't expect a 38D or DD to fit - when you go down in the band from what you measure you need to go up in the cup. It is very common for those who are a bit squidgy of torso to need to do that. I would say you should probably be trying 40DD, 38E and 38F to start with.

That said supermarket bras as a rule aren't great. They work ok for smaller, lighter breasts but for bigger breasts they're not really up to much. I'd suggest casting your net a bit wider and looking at like of Freya, Fantasie, Panache, Curvy Kate, Bravissimo...I suspect you'll notice a real difference in quality and lift

ToastMakesMeHappy · 03/06/2014 21:59

'A bit squidgy of torso' Grin love that!! Describes me perfectly. I will head to bravissimo as there is one not far from me. Thank you for your advice

SpiralArchitect · 11/06/2014 10:45

Cleo Juna finally arrived - 32E is perfect for cup size, the band just does up, doesn't pull out much, I feel well supported, etc...BUT I then suddenly develop horrendous over-band sag, especially under my arms.

I don't think it's stray boob because, even after scooping, the excess flesh fat doesn't come anywhere near the cup.

Do I need the Cleo Juna's cups on a wider band? Stats and Sorrel, over to you!

TIA once again.

Bumping - any advice, please?

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 12/06/2014 09:33

I'm suspecting that you maybe need wider cups -under arm fat normally needs to go in the cup. It might be worth trying one cup bigger on the juna but also consider curvy Kate balconettes like entice and tease me or bravissimo half cups. Freya patsy half cup or Freya marvel might work too

SpiralArchitect · 12/06/2014 16:33

I did order the Cleo Juna 32F but the cups were way too big so it went back.

The underarm fat is more towards the back than the front which is why I thought it might not be boob!

Will have a look at those other styles - I spent a soul-destroying hour in Debenhams last week trying on bras, none of which fitted perfectly. I wish we had a Bravissimo....

Thanks for your help Thanks

I suspect that a wider bra plus good scooping will be the solution. Sometimes if you have been wearing the wrong bra for a while you have to almost retrain your breast tissue back to the right place as ill fitting wires can cause migration - it's often the cause of people who have a second bulge under the arm
