I've lurked a little, and measured...and now am feeling brave enough to post....

So, I come in at 32.75" underneath (though if I pull the measure really really tight I'm 32"), and 38" in the oh-so-unattractive bending over position. Currently in a 36B, which doesn't fit in many, many ways, but I'm thinking 32E/F might be more like it, which is a bit of a shock to the system!

Please could you lovely ladies advise on sizing and possible brands/styles, etc.

TIA.

Hi, can you help me please? I have close set breasts with lots of tissue and fullness at the top. The only style I can wear is a plunge or one where the central gore is pretty low. Can't wear Panache at all. I can wear Feya Deco but my rib cage is a bit bony and I find the wires quite uncomfortable. I'm 29/40 but usually prefer a 30 gg as a result.

What I'm looking for an everyday nude bra, not too expensive, super comfy. I've been looking at the Curvy Kate daily boost and it might work depending on how high the centre goes. Would I be better with a 28h or hh? And is there anything else anyone can recommend? It's so frustrating because more of the g-plus bras I find are balconette or full and they cut my breasts in half.

potoftea · 01/06/2014 20:05

Sorry to butt in but I have studied these bra advice threads and am still seeking a bra that fits and doesn't hurt.
My problem is firstly that I have never found under wires that sit against my skin, the middle bit always stands out.
I always wore a 36 inch, but following the advice here have started wearing a 32, with either an e cup or dd. But always with stand out central bit, and always feeling like I can't wait to get home and open my bra. The only bra I can bear for a whole day is one of those soft over the head ones which is ugly and only suitable for baggy clothes.
Please, please help. When I actually had a dream recently where I found a comfortable bra, I woke up so disappointed.
Oh and no bellissimo here, am in Ireland.

potoftea · 01/06/2014 20:08

Sorry for rudely interrupting when GhettoFabulous had just asked. I crossed post as it took me so long to type.

Please could you experts help me too? I've got post menopausal saggy boobs and although I measure 32/33 underneath can not get 32 or 34 to do up without strangling. When I do the leaning over thing I am 39/40. Main problem is getting a suitable bra to hoist them up from elbow level.
Most comfortable seemed to be 36DD but the wires don't lie flat and the back rides up a bit. In fact the only bit that fits is the cup size. Although when I hoist the straps up to give more uplift the bottoms of my boobs sometimes come out the bottom of the bra.
Any size, style and brand ideas greatly received.

SorrelForbes · 01/06/2014 20:39

potoftea If the centre gore is refusing to lie flat then you need a bigger cup. What are your measurements and have you been scooping?

storynanny2 Most 32s should do up and 34s definitely should! Have you tried to do them up back to front? This is a good tip for establishing if the band fits before you start throwing cup size into the mix. The 36DD sounds too big in the band (riding up and boobs falling out underneath) and too small in the cup (wires not lying flat). Your measurements suggest 32F/FF, 34E/F but your 36DD has the same cup volume as a 34E and a 32F so I would discount those two sizes as they'll also be too small. Start with a 32FF/34F and be prepared to go bigger in the cup.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/06/2014 20:41

GhettoFabulous, how wide are your breasts (i.e. are they quite planted on the front or do they go far under your armpits?

Potoftea, are your boobs very close together? Generally, the gore not sitting flat is because the cup is still too small

potoftea · 01/06/2014 20:48

I am 32 and half inches underneath and 39 at fullest. And yes I scoop all I can.
Thanks.

potoftea · 01/06/2014 20:50

They don't look close together I think, but I don't really see many naked breasts to compare!

SorrelForbes · 01/06/2014 20:51

potoftea I'd start with a 32F based on those measurements.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/06/2014 20:52

In that case it sounds like you probably do need more cup space, but it could also be that you need a different shape, so something with more projection towards the centre. Which bras do you wear at the moment?

potoftea · 01/06/2014 20:59

I can bear my Triumph one most of the day but my recently bought gorgeous brand is really uncomfortable and is a 32 ff.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/06/2014 21:09

Gorgeous is a whole law unto itself, runs notoriously small!

If you don't have enough cup space (whether due to size or wrong bra shape) then the band will feel artificially tight because it's not sitting against your skin but is instead having to stretch further than it should to allow the gore to float, if that makes sense.

What I'm wondering is if you need something with deeper, narrower cups. If I try on a Curvy Kate bra (they are quite wide and shallow) then even if it's the right size the gore won't sit flat because I have deep, narrow boobs (relatively) so at the inside edge I have more boob than the cup shape allows for, even though the overall volume should be able to contain me. Kind of trying to fit a square peg in a round hole! Could it be that? If so, it might be worth trying something like a Cleo Marcie/Millie as they are deeper cupped. Panache Idina and Jasmine might work too

potoftea · 01/06/2014 21:14

Thank you so much for your advice. I do feel that the bra style is the problem rather than simply sizing. Will check out some of your suggestions.

GhettoFabulous · 01/06/2014 21:41

If you go to the bit where it says "outward pointing apex" my breasts look like the middle picture.

storynanny2 · 01/06/2014 21:51

Thank you sorrel, wow that is quite a different size to try! Any suggestions for particularly saggy boobs style wise? I usually go for full cup under wired up padded. Don't think I have ever tried balconette.

SorrelForbes · 02/06/2014 07:56

storynanny2 I'd try balconettes as they do give the best list. Are you near a Bravissimo? They have a good selection of brands (including their own range of half cup styles). The Lepel Fiore half cup is also very nice and the Panache Cleo unpadded range is also good but you may find with them that you don't fill the top of the cups. Debenhams Goreous range does nice balconettes as does Freya (the Patsy is popular).

storynanny2 · 02/06/2014 08:31

Thanks for your advice, I will investigate.

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 02/06/2014 19:53

OK. 36 round chest and 48 doing the bending over thing. I'm currently mid weight loss but would like to have one well fitting bra all the time.

Help me, oh bra ones, you're my only hope.

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/06/2014 21:16

Start by trying a 36HH and work from there.

SorrelForbes · 02/06/2014 21:22

Try a 36HH but be prepared to need a 34 back (if you're squishy of torso) and a bigger cup.

Evening Stats Grin

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 02/06/2014 21:28

Definitely squishy of torso. Thank you so much! Was three stone lighter and am still wearing the same bras...

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 02/06/2014 21:34

John Lewis apparently have 6 styles in that size. Who knew!

SorrelForbes · 02/06/2014 21:39

The Fantasie Elodie is a popular bra.
