I want a new top for work. But I cannot bring myself to buy it. However, it's all I can find. Do I need to man up and face it?Sad

OP posts:
OftheTwilighttheDarkness · 30/05/2014 19:46

I like man made fabrics.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 30/05/2014 19:47

I can't. I sweat like I'm wearing a bin liner.
:(

addictedtosugar · 30/05/2014 19:50

I've been wearing some viscose tops with a cottonish cami or vest top underneath. Works in the winter. Is it possible with this top?

whereisshe · 30/05/2014 19:56

I don't and won't. Every t

whereisshe · 30/05/2014 19:57

Oops, silly phone.

Every time I do I smell awful by midday and am all sweaty.

seasalty50 · 30/05/2014 19:59

Viscose is a natural fibre.

Polyester is everywhere, really expensive (to me) £160 'cord' jacket in CC was bloody polyester. I was appalled.

addictedtosugar · 30/05/2014 20:08

Sorry, the viscose ones are fine. Its acrylic (I've just been up reading the labels)
Perhaps I should have said that when i don't like the feel of a top, I put a cotton cami or vest underneath.

seasalty50 · 30/05/2014 20:12

Apologies, didn't mean to nit-pick Blush Was just worried OP might feel the need to avoid viscose as well.

I wear cotton under jumpers, hate feeling itchy!

addictedtosugar · 30/05/2014 21:19

No, its good. I'm now not going to reject things outright when shopping online, 'casue they dont say cotton. I have another fabric. This is good but probably won't be put into practice til next go shopping when I drop a dress size, get a new job or wear through the clothes I have Smile

Everhopeful · 30/05/2014 21:25

Viscose is natural? What's it made from then? I had no idea!

seasalty50 · 30/05/2014 21:44

Tree bark I think.

Sleepthief · 30/05/2014 21:45

Viscose

I've always wondered at the vitriol viscose has engendered here. I think it's great, where polyester and acrylic (while having their place) give me electric shocks Smile

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 30/05/2014 21:58

Every now and then I wear some polyester I bought ages ago before I saw the light. I always regret it and end up binning the item at the end of the day as I just feel so clammy in polyester. I am slowly, but surely, weeding it out of my cupboard.

That said, some poly blends aren't too bad, but no more pure poly for me.

Deathraystare · 31/05/2014 07:58

Here's one that hates Viscose with a vengeance. I don't care how 'natural' it is - it makes me sweat like a very sweaty pig. Do pigs sweat????

I can wear polyester and acrylic (prefer it to wool that makes me itchy), but viscose causes my forehead and neck and back to drip. Sorry if tmi.

noddyholder · 31/05/2014 08:11

I like it I think the drape suits my shape I am not really sweaty though

Bamboo is a new one on me, my new dress from Seasalt is bamboo.

squoosh · 31/05/2014 17:29

Look at this Temperley dress. £525 and 100% polyester. Ridiculous.

Looks draughty enough not to get sweaty in Grin

PacificDogwood · 31/05/2014 18:38

No.
Desist.
'Tis made of the devil's locks.
And it is everywhere… Angry

PacificDogwood · 31/05/2014 18:43

Bamboo is the new cotton Grin

expatinscotland · 31/05/2014 18:45

No, no, no!

MyrtleDove · 31/05/2014 19:10

Bamboo is nice, very soft - good for yoga pants. Sadly if you're plus sized everywhere is polyester hell :(

canny1234 · 31/05/2014 19:17

I will never knowingly wear Polyester.Having spent secondary school in an excruciatiatingly itchy Crimplene dress I now refuse to wear anything sweaty or itchy - even underwear.

myitchybeaver · 31/05/2014 19:18

Man made fabrics usually mean no ironing, therefore a winner for me!
