Taking a picture of a celeb's hair to the hairdressers - do people actually do this or will I look like a fool?

Just watched Fearne meets McBustes (for all your early 2000's boy band needs) and really like Fearne's long bob.

I need a hair cut and thought about taking a pic of her with me, but do people actually do this IRL or is it just something magazines tell you to do?

Can't find a recent picture of her hair now, but it seems v similar to what she had in 2011 (according to google images).

What do you think of it?

I have dark brown hair, and not planning to go lighter, if that makes any difference!

Obviously no longer relevant, but I was coming on to say that I've taken a celeb pic in before (Haile Berry with a gorgeous cropped cut) and not an eyebrow was raised. Unfortunately, last time I went, the only pic of my hair the way I wanted it was one of myself, and I didn't have it stored on my phone, so the only way I could find it was by Googling myself (work-related photo). Now that did get me an odd look .
