Where do you buy your work out gear?

I need to replace all my workout tops again, I have to do it fairly often as they just end up stinking of sweat. Last lot I got was from Gap with a 30% discount code. I don't want to spend a fortune but I also don't really want to have to keep replacing them - any ideas? I need approx. 10 tops and some sports bras.

Sweaty Betty stuff is lovely but ££££ even 2nd hand on eBay.

EduardoBarcelona · 19/05/2014 19:55

i dont know how sweaty betty keeps going tbh
its not that nice

ivykaty44 · 19/05/2014 19:59

Don't use conditioner and line dry

trixymalixy · 19/05/2014 20:17

Why do you need so many tops op?

some good value ones here

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 19/05/2014 20:32

10 topsShock

I get my running gear from wiggle. They have good discounts from time to time. I prefer nike stuff generally, the fit seems consistent and the clothes last really well.

Sometimes sweatshop have some offers too. Sports direct online is okay, don't bother with the store, it's a jumble sale!

ThatBloodyWoman · 19/05/2014 20:50

Am I the only dirty beggar who gives running stuff several a couple of goes before washing?

(I am a solitary runner.....)

CMOTDibbler · 19/05/2014 20:57

Clean kit each time for me, but I seem to sweat a lot running. When I'm away for work, its the same all week and I find it very grim.
However, a sign of activity levels in this house is that we do a sports wash every other day, so its not an issue - 3 running sets, 2 bike, and 2 swimming costumes. And two tri suits which I don't wear round town in case I'm arrested for causing trauma to the oldies

Meglet · 19/05/2014 21:18

TBW no, I often wear my running kit twice. I only run on my own and for 30 mins or so. I don't really sweat in the fresh air TBH.

Always a new fresh kit for the gym though, especially classes when one is in close proximity to another person.

sweetheart · 19/05/2014 22:07

I need approx 10 because most days I work out twice, once at lunch time and once in the evening. I wear clean kit each time - there is no way I could wear mine twice! Means I could go a couple of days without needing to wash and re-wear immediately

Are you an instructor. Or slightly obsessed ?

KatyS36 · 19/05/2014 22:13

I get this problem of stinky tops. I've solved it by buying t shirts from icebreaker which are made of marino wool. I have worn them until then fall apart (years!) and they never smell. ££ yes, but cost per a wear is very low and it is fantastic knowing I never stink.

I've also have a lot of luck with sweaty betty, although I tend to buy sleeveless tops there as they are expensive and I don't want to risk it.

'Normal' sports kit just smells rank on me!

More than slightly obsessed Wink

Ooh I wish I could work out twice a day, I love it but I'm catching up on Game of Thrones so need to sit down in the evening. Once it is then.

Primark (brightly coloured £5 tops and black leggings)
TK Maxx
Lidl when they have them, just bought my third item from there.

Charitygirl1 · 20/05/2014 14:37

Forever 21 surprisingly good

Pompbear · 20/05/2014 16:09

Sainsburys do pretty decent stuff too

Suzannewithaplan · 20/05/2014 17:39

wiggle
debenhams
john lewis

AmberNectarine · 20/05/2014 18:37

I LOVE sweaty betty. I could keep them going on my own!

Also the odd bit of nike or adidas. Have had no success with cheaper stuff.

Bambi75 · 20/05/2014 18:56

Sweaty Betty every time. Great quality and lasts for ages. Stylish too, not that that's the no 1 priority in the gym.

trixymalixy · 20/05/2014 21:27

I've exercised twice today . Didn't wear the same stuff twice though. I do sometimes depending on how vigorous the exercise was e.g. If I've played a fairly sedate game of tennis I might re wear the stuff to run the next day.

I like the look of the forever 21 stuff, I'm going to pop in there for a look.

theresnowheretohidewithachip · 21/05/2014 03:02

Gap capris and vest tops. And if cold out, an old sweatshirt.

Blackjackcrossed · 21/05/2014 06:01

I like Ronhill tights, for tops I like Nike racer back vests, Helly Hanson merino top layer, Sugoi sometimes appeals. I have a Gap racer back which is fine too. I exercise too much to compromise on style, quality or comfort. My gear usually lasts for years and it takes abuse as I mainly can be found rolling around the dirt at military fitness classes. A friend buys cheap stuff and she has to replace it every year, it's a false economy.

conquita · 21/05/2014 06:16

Sweaty Betty for me. The leggings suck you right in and make me feel better running because I don't jiggle about so much. V. Expensive though but it's worth it to me as I wear their clothes more than my normal casual stuff.

Suzannewithaplan · 21/05/2014 11:14

I like some of the sweaty Betty stuff but it does seem overpriced (?)

Sometimes buy from pure lime, sometimes nike

trixymalixy · 22/05/2014 12:59

30% off gap with grazia this week....

OnlyLovers · 22/05/2014 16:02

I'd second TK Maxx. You do have to keep going back until they have what you want, but when it's good it's AWESOME. I've had big brands like Nike and LA Gear from there for peanuts, as well as those lovely luxury labels like Manuka.

Genuine question: does people's workout gear really start to smell irredeemably of sweat, even with regular washing? Mine seems to be fine (touch wood). What sort of time period are we talking before your gear starts to reek?
