Heel balm for upper arms???

MildredH · 11/05/2014 15:55

Recently read on another thread about a ? Heel balm for bumpy upper arms but didn't save details..

As we approach bare arm season I need to do something about my upper arms. The skin there is red and bumpy- a bit chicken skin-ish.

Has anyone tried this wonder tip? Can you tell me what I need to buy/ how often to use etc..

Thanks!

This is the stuff you need.
www.boots.com/en/Eucerin-Dry-Skin-Intensive-Lotion-10-w-w-Cutaneous-Emulsion-Urea-250ml_6771/
It is literally a miracle product - works within hours. However you do have to keep using it every day.

nomoreminibreaks · 11/05/2014 17:23

I heard that the vitamin (can't remember which it is) in carrots is great for this. Try drinking carrot juice.

I'd forgotten about this tip until the other day. My arms have been really bad but I have a thing for carrots at the moment and noticed the bumps had all gone since I've been eating lots of them.

You have keratosis pilaris (or something). I've heard that about Eucarin but if money is no object (or not a major object) I recommend Paula's choice Beta Hydroxy acid body cream and a body shop recycled plastic sponge thingy. That'll kill it and if you are only using the body lotion on your arms it will last ages. I'll try and post a link.

nomoreminibreaks · 11/05/2014 17:28

Just looked it up. It's vitamin A apparently.

Kundry · 11/05/2014 17:35

Heel balm is a bit thick and odd feeling due to the 50% urea - it would work but you don't need that much for the rest of your body. Anything 5 or 10% would do. As Amethyst says, Eucerin do lovely products as urea is the core of their range.

Flexitol

StealthPolarBear · 11/05/2014 17:38

flexitol works wonders for me, as does regular pumicing

Saurus72 · 11/05/2014 17:45

Also try those exfoliating gloves in the shower, they're brilliant at smoothing away rough bits.

SirChenjin · 11/05/2014 17:51

You have keratosis pilaris - DD (almost 15) has it on her face, and all down her arms and legs. We are experts on the condition here Grin. Eucerin doesn't really work if the condition is bad, and exfoliating and moisturing only helps a bit. We're now on salicylic acid emulsion from the GP and have Isotrex gel as a back up - if neither of them work she's going to be referred to a Dermatologist.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/05/2014 18:37

Was going to suggest eucerin but it's been mentioned already!

HairyFairyFoof · 11/05/2014 19:28

Aldi are doing a version of eucerin, 10% urea still but only 1.99!! Its helping my KP massively!!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/05/2014 19:29

Is that the foot cream? It's fab!

HairyFairyFoof · 11/05/2014 19:32

Yep Smile

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/05/2014 19:44

Love AldiGrin

SauceForTheGander · 11/05/2014 19:47

I think this has worked - an unintended consequence.

Heel balm for upper arms???
Amethyst24 · 11/05/2014 20:47

Weirdly, I also find St Tropez gradual tan helps a lot.

TheMightyMing · 11/05/2014 22:12

Hairyfairyfoof- (love that name)!!! - what's the Aldi one called please? Thanks

HairyFairyFoof · 11/05/2014 22:20

Its called Lacura Foot Cream, its in a white tube with blue writing, dont have the bottle to hand at the moment but i believe its 250mls Smile
And thankyou, i love my name too Grin

CallerIDBingo · 11/05/2014 23:22

I hate my KP but often can't be arsed to do anything about it.

Best things I have found is heel balm with urea from Poundland in a large tube (buy in bulk when you see it), no shaving, and Nair Soy and Pomegranate hair removing cream (Bodycare) which seems to break down the hard skin as well as remove hair.

You do have to use the urea cream every day though to see a difference. Nivea shower moisturiser also helps on the back of my arms.

Have searched for the Lacura Aldi footcream but have never found it - it looks like it's back according to their website so will ask DP to pop in there tomorrow Grin

Fram · 11/05/2014 23:26

dove shower gel- the one for 'age' Hmm
works wonders.

anchovies · 11/05/2014 23:27

Best thing about the aldi one is it's fragrance free. Flexitol worked but the smell was horrific!

Nocomet · 11/05/2014 23:28

DD1 reckons Soap and Glory body scrub helps and it smells nice too.

darksideofthemooncup · 11/05/2014 23:32

This will probably divide opinion but I have had a few sunbed sessions and the KP has completely disappeared.

MildredH · 11/05/2014 23:46

Oh wow. I have an actual thing- with a Latin name no less! Have google imaged KP and that's exactly what it looks like.

I will try something with the urea in- probably the aldi one.

Bad news that you have to do it every day- at 33 years old I STILL have not mastered committing to anything on a daily basis.

I've used sunbeds in the past and it does improve KP massively, I'm extremely pale and have never, ever tanned except on the holiday after I had 12x10mins on a sunbed. My KP also was 90% improved.

It was only that once though, I wouldn't go back on sunbeds, too scared.

But if you can get to grips with the worst of it using heel balm etc, then a spray tan can also hide any remaining redness.
