Do you get changed?

Navy 7/8 trousers
Navy thick lace sleeveless top
Tan slipper shoes with orange trim
Shades of blue scarf with little orange flowers
Black short jacket (my only lightweight)
Black bag

I'd ask him which charm school he graduated from and suggest he phone and ask for his money back. Sounds like a lovely outfit to me! Try not to let it spoil your evening.

theincrediblealfonso · 10/05/2014 19:44

Nope, I'd tell him to fuck off!

Toothytwo · 10/05/2014 19:45

'You're right, we clash, see you later' Grin

littlegreengloworm · 10/05/2014 19:47

I wouldn't wear black with navy but you'll be taking the jacket off and your outfit sounds lovely so don't worry about him

usuallysuspect · 10/05/2014 19:47

I wouldn't get changed.

MirandaWest · 10/05/2014 19:49

I can't imagine my bf saying that but I suppose different people are different. Did he say it unprompted?

Not sure what I'd do as I'd then feel awkward in what I was wearing. I'd provably ask what he thought I should wear (whilst seething at least inwardly).

namechangenumber5 · 10/05/2014 19:51

You know him best. What did he mean? Is he a good judge? Is he mean?

SmokyHeart · 10/05/2014 20:17

Your outfit sounds lovely and I would assume that you know more about style than your DH :)

NearTheWindymill · 10/05/2014 20:38

Well I don't think you can mix blue and brown and certainly not black and brown and I would never wear black with navy.

Sorry OP but I think he might have a point. Sure you look very attractive though. Can you just ditch the black jacket?

My DH has a habit of wearing a pale blue shirt with beige/camel chinos and I always send him back to change.

BindibachMilly · 10/05/2014 20:51

Tan and black are wonderful colour combinations as are navy and tan but black over navy does tend to dull the navy down somewhat. Do you have a cardi that you could wear if there is no other jacket option?

BindibachMilly · 10/05/2014 20:53

I also think that pale blue looks good with camel. Calvin Klein uses this combos a lot. Think we have different tastes.

BindibachMilly · 10/05/2014 20:57

I have these on my pinterest as I love them

I could love the combo a bit more on him than on DH that's to be sure Grin

BindibachMilly · 10/05/2014 21:01

ha ha ha ha!! Smile...Poor DH.Bless. Im sure he is lovely.

NearTheWindymill · 10/05/2014 21:04

Aw yes, in all his blonde, freckly, gingeryness Shock. I do luffs him. He bought himself some pink shorts last year and tried to team them up with a turqoise polo shirt.

NearTheWindymill · 10/05/2014 21:04

Anyway I do apologise for hijacking your thread OP.

Crutchlow35 · 10/05/2014 21:06

In my opinion black and navy don't go together ever.

defineme · 10/05/2014 21:13

Well black and navy is wrong (it's taken me long enough to get used to camel with black), but if my dh ever expressed an opinion other than 'you look very nice' I'd fall over because he knows the unwritten rules... never ever comment negatively on dw's appearance. I thought all dhs knew that rule? I'd also find it deeply unsexy if dh expressed an opinion on clothes and colour- I'm aware that'd not very right on, but that's how I'd feel.

BindibachMilly · 10/05/2014 21:13

Oooo pink and turquoise.......mmmm.....lovely colours in a scarf maybe but shorts and polo shirt! And he sounds cute Windy.

BindibachMilly · 10/05/2014 21:16

Actually on the whole I don't mind my DH commenting if an outfit really doesn't come together as good as I imagine it in my head. He has saved me from a couple of bad purchases recently. Although I dress for me I do like to know that he is appreciating how good I look.

NearTheWindymill · 10/05/2014 21:20

"Does my bum look big in this?". "No your bum just looks big".

PandaPicnic · 10/05/2014 21:23

oh i wouldn't team black and navy

but he was v rude and i would not have got changed

do you i thought today wandering around the shops why are all these women asking there dh/dp with them what do you think to this etc when the man clearly had no style

Morgause · 10/05/2014 21:24

He's right.

WildThong · 10/05/2014 21:59

I came to the conclusion that whether he was right or wrong was a moot point. It was mean and unnecessary. I didn't get changed.

WaitingForMe · 10/05/2014 22:03

When DH and I were first dating he said "have you put on weight?" when he picked me up to go out. He was trying to be observational and thought it was like changing my hair colour.

We had a chat about that Angry
