Glad you asked this noddy! I was wondering what stuff I can get away with again this year and what to chuck / sell on ebay!

c'mon then all you style gurus!

moondog · 29/08/2006 16:02

Burlap and cotton wool snood

Basket weave pantaloons

Open weave vests and matching knickers

Assymetrical damask cloaks

Sorted

janeite · 29/08/2006 16:03

Grey! Wide legged trousers; little fitted school girl type cardigans; big chunky cardigans - all grey. Pinafore dresses - though not for me with my ample bra-dept; grey too.

Am quite happy as I love grey in Autumn but not seen much if anything that I actually want to BUY yet. Would love a grey wool, flarey type of skirt - anybody seen anything?

mazzystar · 29/08/2006 16:04

Vogue says
Grey
Red or purple if bored of grey
Tunics
Parkas
Platform court shoes
Wide trousers
Smart tailoring, moving away from very feminine things
Thick black tights (hooray)
Big accessories

LucyCat · 29/08/2006 16:05

oh goody _ was hoping I could wear my open weave vest again this year - they are just sooo practical in Manchester.

Thanks moon'styley goddess'dog!

fullmoonfiend · 29/08/2006 16:19

Sigh, I hate grey, I have the wrong complexion for it, I end up with grey-looking skin too...

I have a parka already! Yay!

MrsBadger · 29/08/2006 16:22

well I'm not wearing any grey this winter, so vogue can kiss my furry badger arse.

I see a winter of cosy brown corduroys and snug jumpers...

Quadrophenia · 29/08/2006 16:24

I see a winter of walking around naked unless I lose weight right now as none of my clothes fit. All the fashions I have seen look very early eighties, I'm not impressed at all, and certainly will not be buying a jump suit

kitegirl · 29/08/2006 16:27

winter sandals with opaque tights

sweater dresses and big knits

new grunge - fab

I'll be the one swishing round in my lovely, untailored, un-grey, very last-year, pretty long cord skirts with boots! Sometimes I feel like the little boy in the Emperor's New Clothes when it comes to high-fashion. Bag of shite!

I didn't mean to imply that Vogue were right by the way.

I wish I could wear a sweater dress, but not possible with these hips (never mind watermelon pg belly)

expatinscotland · 29/08/2006 16:51

my Hebridean wool shawl.

bundle · 29/08/2006 16:54

sweater dresses = work of the devil

bakedpotato · 29/08/2006 17:06

surely the only time any adult female can wear a sweater dress is when pg?

expatinscotland · 30/08/2006 09:36

Or if she's a 5ft., 10in.+ fashion model.

Gobbledigook · 30/08/2006 09:46

I don't care what the fashion mags say really although some of my wardrobe coincides with what they suggest anyway. As usual I'll be wearing:

Jeans (but boyfriend ones in the day time) with 'trainers' or timberland type boots or smart boots.
Fitted jumpers over a white vest. Might get a couple of polo necks.
Going to get a nice warm parka for the school run.

OR

Shortish skirts (got a dark denim one, brown cord one) with opaque tights and knee high boots. Also long skirts depending on temperature!

Will also probably wear my trusty gillets over fitted jumpers in autumn. Might get a faux fur one. Saw a nice M&S one in Eve magazine.

So, anyone seen any nice Parka coats?

harpsichordcarrier · 30/08/2006 09:53

goodness me gdg, we are style twins
xcept I don't really do gilets. I think my norks are too big. ditto polo necks.
fitted jumper over a white vest is a good look I think

MrsBadger · 30/08/2006 10:11

ooh, gdg, parka thread here

think the FCUK one is the best of the bunch

Gobbledigook · 30/08/2006 11:44

Oooh, will visit parka thread in a mo.

HC, I don't have large norks so not a problem here! There are bonuses then!

expatinscotland · 30/08/2006 11:46

I am rather small of nork, so look forward to polo necks and gillets.

CurrantBun · 30/08/2006 12:08

I also live in fitted jumpers over a white vest - not sure what the hell I'm going to wear now I'm pregnant as will be at my largest during the winter months. Should I just buy the same sorts of things but in larger sizes to accommodate the bump - or will they not fit properly elsewhere (especially across the shoulders as I'm very narrow) and I'll just look silly?

I think I'll feel really uncomfortable if I have to change my fundamental style to accommodate being pregnant - for example, I'm really not a skirt person (don't even own one) so can't see myself opting for skirts instead of trousers. Yet most maternity stuff I've seen is vile.

Think I might just hide in a cupboard until February!

Mmmmm at black opaque tights for another winter.

Can I still wear my knee high wedge heeled boots though?
