If you had to buy a temporary (fat) wardrobe, where would you shop?

DC2 now 3 months old. I have put on weight since giving birth so I am bigger than I ever have been before. I need some clothes that fit. Obviously I plan to lose weight but that might take a little while as I cannot exercise at the mo.

So, if you had to buy a short term wardrobe, where would you get it from. Cheap and flattering. Does such a place exist?

Previously I was size 14/16, now size 18/20. Most of the weight is on my tum and norks. Casual stuff only for now (back to work in summer and hopefully will have lost a bit by then).

Asda or Tesco with bits from Primark.

Charity shops? THen you can take all the stuff back when you no longer want it.

I've just found cloves.co.uk as was recommended on here. Cheap prices, quality prob isn't amazing but I'm also hoping it's a temporary wardrobe!

Jeggings topped with 2nd hand silk tunic dresses from ebay .
I have just emerged from the same saga and have had the dresses taken in and chucked the jeggings.

New Look - they have a great range and go up to bigger sizes.

Asda, George is fairly cheap but not such good quality as say, Fatface (although much cheaper than shops like Monsoon)

Tesco, Sainsbury's, Primark or charity shops

eBay. That way you can get better cut clothes or ones made with better fabric without spending a fortune.

I got a lot of stuff from Amazon - you can filter for stuff cheaper than, say, £20. I was buying clothes as I was losing weight but not at my target weight IYSWIM. Cheap enough so I wasn't too bothered when it got too big.

I'm similar (but 2 years in!) And need summer/casual clothes.

I'd like fatface/whitestuff/monsoon et c but couldn't afford it and I'm hoping t will just be this summer.

It's cyclical though, if I but cheap tent clothes from the supermarket (which I think I need to do) I'll feel fat and ugly and more likely to eat! Can't spend silly money to feel confident when I only want it for a summer though!

So similar in that I don't want to spend much but don't want to look cheap. I also don't quite know what suits size 20 with large tummy!

Sainsburys jeans and cords are really good - have been wearing them for the last few years and they fit nicely plus cost loads less than M&S. They've also often got some nice t basic tshirts that fit well.

M&S do some good basic cut offs for the summer that are usually about £12/pair in cotton or linen or a mix of the two. I usually end up with a black, navy and beige pair each year - I makes sure I have one decent pair in each colour and use the older ones for when I am scruffy in the garden or knocking around the house. I haven't needed a new pair of each colour each year, but depending on the tops and shoes I have some years I wear one colour more than the others so that would need replacing faster iyswim...

Thank you all. I had a quick look in charity shop today but there was nowt decent. Think would get better selection in the city centre than local town centre.

I like the sound of your silk tunics slimsoon but don't think would be any good for bfing. I am wall to wall cotton jersey for tops at the mo.

After last pg I got fat clothes from sainsburys but I felt awful in them- not flattering at all. Or maybe I would just feel awful in anything! I cheerfully got rid of them as soon as poss.

I'd go for a capsule wardrobe. Tunics and leggings with ballet flats could work well. Patterned tops, or patterned scarves with plain tops, help to disguise size a bit. M&s 5 pocket jeggings are also reasonably priced, flattering and come in many colours.

Charity shops are not great if you need something specific, and just be careful you don't waste money on pieces that don't fit with the rest of your wardrobe!

A few years back now, but I bought my post-pregnancy jeggings (with elasticated waists) from Wallis. Not sure if they still make them. And other stuff from eBay.

I have just cleared out the last of my tunics to the charity shop, or you could have had them!

ASOS have nice plus size stuff, also I have a mate who is probably size 20ish and she gets loads of nice stuff in debenhams (though they must hide it when I go!).

I like la redoute (www.laredoute.co.uk) - their regular sizes go up to 20 and they have a plus sized range too. Not the cheapest, but there are often money off codes around - there's one for bogof at the moment.

George at asda have nice clothes in bigger sizes.

Sainsbury's. They do bigger sizes in sportswear too, for when you feel ready to give it a go.

Can I really wear leggings/jeggings while carrying extra weight? Comfy yes, but flattering? Hmm, really not sure what the alternative would be apart from high waist straight leg or bootcut jeans.

Argh.

I was thinking high waist bootleg for myself. With tunic tops. And I've visions of supermarket faded stretchy shapeless tops.

I so need your thread to come up with ideas!
