Anyone want to use up half finished products in a virtuous and smug manner

I have waaaaay too much beauty/cosmetics. I have boxes full of new stuff and haven't used up the old stuff first. As a result, I have lots of half used lovely cosmetics and face/body products lying around. I also have tons of samples and GWP - all cluttering up the place. Since I am not going on holiday any time soon (damn you children) there is no point in keeping them for putting in my weekend bag (sob! those were the days) .

So I am on a mission to use them all up. Upside - saves money in the short term. Use lots of nice stuff on a more regular basis. Will force me to actually wash my face/put cream on, rather than rinsing face with water in the shower and whacking some hand cream on my scaly bits once a week.

Anyone else in?

So far, I have:

  • cut the top off my smashbox primer and using the dredges. I have got an extra fortnight out of it so far. I use a bulldog clip to close it over afterwards. I will use the 3 tubes of clarins beauty flash balm as primer afterwards. I have no idea why I have so many!
  • refilled up my spray toner bottle with a freebie smaple bottle of Avene stuff. Not as nice as my normal one but totally fine for the short term.
  • fished out 3 tubes of hand cream and put one in the kitchen, one in the utility, one in my office drawer. Need to find another one for my bedside table - I have about a million tubes of hand cream and never put it on so hopefully this will help.
  • started using a bottle of conditioner i don't like to shave legs.

I wear makeup about once or twice a year, so no real problem there. Shampoos, moisturizers, body butters etc though...

Anything like handcream or body lotion that you don't like - what about leaving it in the loos at work? Colleague did that and I thought it was a brilliant idea. Haven't got around to actually taking any of my surplus stuff in yet though...

Yes it was Thr Marie Claire one. It looked so nice...but i still have the Ren set i got with a mag last year untouched. I never saw the Elle but I actually might buy it for professional. It was recommended on here but I'd rather not invest in the full size one until I have tried it. That would be okay wouldn't it?

I am in, have started doing this anyway as have de cluttered cupboards of anything old or that don't work or suit me, so am left with less stuff. I did splash out on some ren products last year which I am enjoying using up but am having to use up some body lotions I don't like the smell of much. Once each type of product finishes I will buy something I really want instead!

I've just looked at my makeup stash. Oh my god Shock
My new mantra is going to be "you only have one face, you can't use all the stuff" Grin

Oh God.... Fell off the wagon yesterday. Bought Nars Douceur Blusher. I didn't need it and I have similar (though not the same) but, it was like a little jewel shining out at me, from the counter. I love it. But I KNOW I ought not to have Blush

I sorted out the bathroom toiletries today

I left DH and DS things on the shelf, and put DD and mine in a basket in the cupboard (things to finish up)
Anything new went back into the storage baskets until we're a bit clearer.

Upside is, I have some Philosophy 2 stage exfoliator, some mini L'Occitane jars and some Elemis Eye Serum that I'll use tonight in the bath.
Along with a whole load of S&G that I have no recollection of buying Blush

I've finished a cleansing balm Smile and about to finish a shower gel
Threw out some gloopy lipgloss and some old brushes

I'm in. Makeup is my weakness, eyeshadow in particular. (all the pretty!)

I cleared out and reorganised my makeup drawer last night - in fact I tossed out a bunch of clothes that I never wear, so now I have two makeup drawers (one for eyeshadow Blush). My hope is that now I can see and find everything that I've got, I'll use it properly instead of just buying the next latest product, or falling for the special offers.

I've been pretty good with skincare lately, and have used up most of my stash. I used to travel a lot for work, so any samples and mini sizes when into my travel bag, but I hardly travel now, so minis get used immediately. I've saved several mini size jars so I can refill them with my regular products for travel.

I've just had a very virtuous shower.

Finished - one large body shop body scrub, one mini molton brown shower gel, one medium sized champneys body cream.

I have put my last body scrub into the shower so can justify buying a new one when that's finished! I still have enough shower gel and body lotion to last me til Christmas though..

On a side note, I've been religious about body moisturising since we started this and I think my skin is happier for it.
