Just that really. Summer church wedding for D/B. Acting as witness and so have to walk past lots of people. Feel rather depressed [PND) and down about myself and the way I look so I want to feel lovely. Just for a day.

I'm winter colouring, the dress looks to be electric blue. In early 40's. 5'7, Size 10-12 probably more of a 12, wide shoulders and hips but go in at the waist. Have a 9 month old so stone heavier than I used to be and a horrible tummy. Bit worried that I may not be able to BF in it, but Dd will be a bit older by then anyway.

So, do you think it's suitable? Appropriate? Finding it really hard to get something that fits the bill. Probably won't wear a hat / fascinator. Am very indecisive and the whole thought of it is stressing me but I can't just not go Sad

FAB-U-LOUS

Really.

Your figure looks great, arms slim and amazing legs.

I don't believe the side version is too awful but if you mean you have a bit of a pot belly on display then shape wear pants will sort it out.

You really don't need to look any further for a dress. Just work now on accessorising, getting your hair etc right so you feel as great as you look.

Keep posting here for tips if unsure or if you're getting worried about it.

If you're feeling self-conscious (which you shouldn't, it looks great!) this is good, I have it for wedding-post-baby-bit-self-conscious-need-to-breastfeed purposes. Not too extreme (so you can still sit down, breathe etc) and let's you wear a nursing bra.

It's a lovely dress and very appropriate. You look great in it. Get some fresh air and sunshine and perhaps some tummy control knickers to make you feel a bit more confident about your side view, and you'll be good to go.

You are absolutely not 'big'! You look fab Smile

Although I know how it feels when you feel 'big', I was a skinny minnie when younger so my adult curvy female figure can often seem 'big' to me too.

I've recently lost weight and have had comments on how 'slim' I now look, am a 12/14 and do feel slim.

I know that to a lot of very slim (and shorter) people a 12/14 is not particularly slim, but it is for me.

I love that dress - you look fantastic.
Sorry you are feeling low - hope you feel brighter soon.

On a side note - love the dress someone else linked, may get it for a wedding I am going to!

Thank you for the reply kind replies. I'm still not sure that I'm seeing what you're seeing but you've made me cry (in a nice way). I feel that my shoulders and hips are just too wide and that I don't have a shape, just a wobbly body. I feel very mumsy. But then I am a mum I suppose.

Photo was taken with saggy old nursing bra and no control knickers. I like the look of that m&s slip and i think I will treat myself to a new balcony bra before the day in an effort to lift everything up. I'm a SAHM so my days of very high heels are over, and the reception will be a marquee on the lawn type affair. Thought wedges I already have in the photo would be a bit more practical, but can look around if you think another type of shoe would be better? What would I need jewellery wise? I like silver metals and pearls mostly.

I love that other HoF dress too Smile.

Dress looks amazing! so Wedges are practical but heels will make you feel super duper sexy! Your call! Good underwear and shape wear ( shape wear for confidence not because you need it btw).

Silver jewellery - yes but not pearls with this dress, also how about a bit of fake tan for a natural glow and maybe a session at a beauty counter like MAC to give you some ideas to try at home. Little clutch bag too? If DC's are going to the wedding I would take a separate practical bag too and stow it away somewhere. Hope you have an awesome time!

Wow, that is a lovely dress & looks fabulous on.
May I suggest a different bra? The one you have on is not doing you any favours.
Black hat, pashmina, bag & shoes would look really smart or possibly a fuchsia colour?

I had thought about a fake tan. Am happy to go and get it done somewhere. Are there any brands I should look out for? I tan naturally quite easily but always worry with fake tan about looking orange. Also the thought of having to strip down Shock

So should the clutch bag match the shoes - and be a different colour to the dress? And would a fascinator or clip look better than a hat with this dress? Sorry for so many questions, I'm quite clueless. I'm happy to be pointed in the right direction

Yes, password. Definitely a different bra. That's my sleeping-in nursing bra Blush. Won't want to be wearing that out of the house!

It's a stunning dress and absolutely appropriate.

I think a fascinator or clip, not a hat.
And I'd do a clutch and shoes in same colour, pretty much any colour you fancy with this dress except black (sorry password).
Re: tans, I'm too scared of them, if I were you, I would try it out now to see what works for you. If my legs are looking grotty, I just use Sally Hensen's airbrush legs, a sort of mousse like foundation that makes them just look a bit smoother and nicer than they really are.

Can you do heels?

these would be lovely.

I'd get a clutch in the same colour or perhaps silver, depending on headwear.

Report
tethersend · 06/04/2014 14:13

tan would also be nice.

tan clutch

Yes I agree fascinator or clip and matching clutch and shoes ( agree not black, sorry), possible colours bright pink, nude or a blush colour would also work. For the tan, if having it done professionally, I always ask in terms of holiday destination and duration, eg I don't want to look like I've spent 2 weeks in the Caribbean more like 4 days in Spain, but just ask for the lightest tan and a natural glow.

Hi lamb, I did re measure and came out at a 32g. But like I say I'm in nursing bras which although made by hot milk are still horrible (actually spent most of my time in them since 2007). I need something that will lift me up and give me shape as I'm terribly saggy, deflated and empty up top. I'm thinking a balcony shape? Last time I went to be measured (in JL) I left in tears as the assistant said I was an odd shape and she couldn't help me.

I realise I don't paint a pretty picture of myself but evidence is there!
