Cremo, how fab to be going to Ghana doing community work. Is it organised through school? I would love to get DD to do something like that. And great that your DH is in a better place (and that you won!)

I have been trying to get my old machine to do free-style embroidery for DD and seem to have managed to make it not sew properly at allSad Off for a restorative coffee and chat with a friend shortly instead!

cremolafoam · 06/04/2014 14:45

BTM not through school - found it via my sister who has years of overseas experience with various projects.
This is it here

I think you need to be careful of some of the bigger organisations who really just offer expensive holidays with little actual beneficial voluntary contribution. Dd is vv excited. She has her grade 8 in singing/ theory and violin which helps with the specialism.

bigTillyMint · 06/04/2014 15:56

Just been looking at the website - it looks fab!

herbaceous · 06/04/2014 19:38

Just back from relatively exhausting day out. Met DP's family for pizza in covent garden, wandered round the market in the crowds, trying not to lose DS, then walked over to the Royal Festival Hall for my gig. DS amused us all by tearing along the bridge after the relies, shouting 'aunties and naaaaaaan'.

Our singing went down a storm, but reduced DP's mum and two sisters to tears. I suppose I should have thought that our programme of Where Have All the Flowers Gone, various World War One songs, and Send In the Clowns might have had an emotional effect.

cremolafoam · 06/04/2014 20:10

Oh herbs - it sounds emotive and wonderful . Smile

Lol @ dsGrin

NUFC69 · 06/04/2014 20:20

Music sounds lovely, Herbs, I like all of it, but particularly "Send in".

Project Trust seems to be well thought of here, I haven't heard of the organisation linked to. (My charity sometimes helps local youngsters financially).

It's been an exhausting day; Dd, DSil and the two Dc were stuck at the side of the motorway until we drove down and I brought home sil and the little ones. Have to say it was frightening stopping on the hard shoulder, transferring the car seats and then getting the children safely inside.

It took until gone four to get everyone back to our house and the car to the garage where it will be looked at tomorrow. And then DS and his family came to see us, too. I find that the older I get the more tiring incidents like this are.

bigTillyMint · 06/04/2014 20:42

Sounds like a lovely, if emotional, day Herbs.

NU, that does sound quite tiring!

Now have to think about packingHmm

CointreauVersial · 06/04/2014 22:27

It's been a nice weekend here. Yesterday was taken up with DD1 and DD2's drama club show, in the local theatre; seeing my 12yo in a blonde wig and a white dress, playing Marilyn Monroe, was quite something. Grin DM and DSDad came over to watch the show and stayed the night (shamefully I couldn't motivate myself to cook so we had fish & chips for tea). Today has been a lazy home-admin kind of day, a perfect Sunday really.

I'm not looking forward to work tomorrow. I've been having "issues" with someone in the office, and have left work on several occasions recently with my blood absolutely boiling. It isn't a personal issue, more of a professional one, and I instigated an "expectations exchange" during lunchtime on Friday so I am hoping things will resolve. Even thinking about it is making me cross.Angry I hate having to play office politics.

Well done to your DD Rudy. No matter how it went, I bet the experience will always stay with her. She's crossed the line from feeling concern to actually doing something at a cost to herself Thanks.

hattymattie · 07/04/2014 07:52

Rudy - Impressed with DD, that really is seeing how tough life is.

NU - that is my nightmare - getting stuck on the motorway.

Here everybody safely at school. German student is lovely and more importantly liked my aubergine lasagne. I think she'll find our school rhythm quite tiring though as they apparently walk ten minutes to school. German teacher gave DD2 good telling off for pointing out that his schedule wasn't very clear - it wasn't!

Blackduck · 07/04/2014 09:19

Herbs that sounds fab....

Well done Rudy's DD
Here Sunday was a very quiet one - ds didn't even make it out of his onesie........

Now back to it, but at least after this week it's a couple of short ones :)

I haven't started work yet Grin though DD2 is going to go over to a friend's soon...

herbaceous · 07/04/2014 09:52

Well, first day of the Easter holidays dawns, with a 6.30 rising DS. Who seems to have been replaced with a butler from the 1930s. He cleared away the breakfast things, for the first time ever, without being asked, then said 'You're welcome, Sarah.' He then tidied up his toys so he could make his train set, which has so far passed strop-free. Another first. And he was utterly cherubic yesterday. If this lasts, the holidays are going to be a breeze.

For some reason feel I should point out our songs yesterday were at the lighter end of our choir's repertoire. It's back to tricky Vaughan Williams after our break.

Oh and good luck with office politics, CV. It really is the pits.

NUFC69 · 07/04/2014 10:10

Early start for us as DH woke up to go to the loo, woke me and then I couldn't get back to sleep. DGC are here and engaged in competitive lap crawling with the cat. Doesn't matter who is on a lap, the other two want to be there as well. MiniHerbs sounds delightful - I think he needs hiring out.

QueenQueenie · 07/04/2014 10:54

Could you train him up Herbs to hand round the nibbles at the next meet up? Those skills need nurturing!

motherinferior · 07/04/2014 11:27

I have just pointed out to a client that I cannot make a two-page spread in the membership magazine out of 173 words. I really can't.

motherinferior · 07/04/2014 11:55

Any suggestions for anywhere central and nice for us - just Mr Inferior and me - to eat on Friday night? Not Indian Grin

NUFC69 · 07/04/2014 12:05

MI, I am disappointed in you; I thought you were superwoman. Grin Needless to say I can't help you with the restaurant - now if you decamp up here it would be no problem.

motherinferior · 07/04/2014 12:08

I have sent a Firm Email, with some suggestions of things they can do (ie 'this is your problem, pal, churn the words out NOW'). Have exported DD2 to a friend's. DD1 is lurking somewhere before a friend of her own appears this afternoon...

bigTillyMint · 07/04/2014 12:17

Lots of nice places our way, including a new one that friends recommendedSmile

I am supposed to be packing, but am avoiding.

Blackduck · 07/04/2014 12:33

Herbs you do know you are going to pay for this cherubic behaviour four fold.....

Anyone fancy a crepey drink w/b 21st April? Probably down in London from the Wednesday.....

I'm in!

bigTillyMint · 07/04/2014 12:45

Oh yes, I'm sure I could pop along! Where will you be based BD?

QueenQueenie · 07/04/2014 13:28

I will be away, otherwise I'd be game too BD.

What sort of restaurant MI? What sort of priceiness (??sp?)
