Ok please help/check this for me

following the measuring guide of doing the band and then leaning forward and measuring the results are

41in band

57in leaning forward fullest part

I had been wearing 38 and 40 G and GG but was finding them very uncomfortable and quite tight on my back. The cups didn't seem to be too far wrong though so I'm confused with possibly needing a J or JJ

I followed a few measuring guides and they seem to be suggesting I need either a 40 or 42 J/JJ

Is that right? Confused

Sorry, I don't get it.. If a 34 was really tight round, surely 30 would be even worse as it's 4 inches less round my back?!

Am I being dim?

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/03/2014 18:26

They don't exist in isolation - if the cups are too small they steal the fabric from the band.

Try it on back to front.

Just tried a 40J curvy kate bra and it seems to be perfect!

Ooh result! I was hoping that would work as they have one of the more interesting ranges in your size!

Not sure which you went for but amazon have the princess in black and nude, in red, daily boost in black and mocha, www.amazon.co.uk/Curvy-Kate-Balcony-Womens-Blush/dp/B0090FZRFE/ref=sr_1_1?s=clothing&ie=UTF8&qid=1396186909&sr=1-1&keywords=curvy+kate and gia in white and blush]]

few here too

lubeybooby · 30/03/2014 14:48

I am so happy, it's really comfy and ticks all the 'good fit' boxes. At last, at last!

It's this one www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009RLM3VW/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

but I will definitely get more in this brand and size now. Thanks again Flowers

Shows that it's not just the size which matters - I suspect you'll see a fair difference in the cup width and depth between that and the Panache of the same size.

here is the upcoming stuff for next season - if you click it tells you the sizes they'll be making. They're making the Gia in a gorgeous purplish colour

Oooh, can I have some advice please? I'm measuring 39/47 and cannot even remember what size my current bras are. I think I've tried everything from a 38 to a 42 band, and cup sizes from B to F.

What is your magic formula for the numbers?

Looking at your questions above, my answers would be:

  1. Fuller at the bottom, flat above
  2. Set mid to high on torso
  3. Wide
  4. 2 finger-width gap
  5. They are softer & larger since BF.

Thanks in anticipation!

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/04/2014 01:25

Try 38FF, 38G, 40FF, 40F. I think the 38s are more likely. Basically band size=underbust measurement and it's 1" per cup.

Style wise - I'd suggest most of the bras mentioned above, this seems to be a wide and bottom heavy thread Grin so:

Curvy Kate - balconette styles, or the tease me/thrill me/fleurty/entice verging on half cup types in particular but CK runs WIIIIDDDEEE!
Freya - patsy half cup in particular although freya in general are on the wider side
Fauve - half cups
Bravissimo Alana, dotty spot, pretty as a pin up, bravissmo half cups
Tutti rouge - they're all wide!
Possibly cleo maddie or juna although they might be too narrow

Thanks so much for the quick response - I'm off into town in an hour or so for holiday shopping so will try and get to the lingerie dept in JL or Debenhams and see what's there.

Copying your post into my iPhone as I won't remember any of it otherwise!

Will report back Smile

Hello, can I have some help please?

I am measuring 28/36 but wearing saggy 32d feeding bras. I had a fitting in john lewis last week where the fitter tried to get me to buy 30dd which clearly didn't fit. The gore was away from the body and there was quad boob. So I came away braless, gutted.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/04/2014 14:49

Your measurements suggest a 28FF as a start point.

Was the bra in John Lewis wired? It can be almost impossible to get non wired/feeding bras to tack anyway, but a 30DD will be 1-2 cup sizes too small in volume terms anyway.

blackteaplease · 01/04/2014 15:03

Thank you. It was a wired t-shirt bra,the cups were definitely too small without even scooping.

I wanted a slightly padded balcony/plunge bra but the jl fitter said that all their dd+ bras were either sheer or t-shirt style.

What sizes either side of that should i also try? I might bulk order a load online and return those that don't fit.

goodbyeyellowbrickroad · 14/04/2014 02:20

Finally had time to look at bras again after a house of visitors!

Breasts fuller at the bottom
Set highish on torso - have found some wires cut in under my armpit especially Panache bras
Root of breasts is wide and definitely goes round under arm
With no bra on there's about a 3/4 inch gap
Breasts feel softer than they used to and I'm still breast feeding. Only feed a couple of times a day so doesn't have any impact on size

Just looking at a new swimming costume - has anyone tried the Fantasie Versailles?
