Bra intervention please!

Ok please help/check this for me

following the measuring guide of doing the band and then leaning forward and measuring the results are

41in band

57in leaning forward fullest part

I had been wearing 38 and 40 G and GG but was finding them very uncomfortable and quite tight on my back. The cups didn't seem to be too far wrong though so I'm confused with possibly needing a J or JJ

I followed a few measuring guides and they seem to be suggesting I need either a 40 or 42 J/JJ

Is that right? Confused

Is that with push up style bra? Does that make a difference? Confused

Help needed please! Just measured at 33.5 under and 44 over.

Currently in an Elomi 34H with definite room in the cup and having to do the back up on the tightest hooks.

Live in the US and went to a store on Sunday to get fitted but wasn't happy with any of the bras I tried on. Lady there fitted me in a UK 32G or H depending on bra. How I miss Bravissimo!

Based on the measurements I would have said 32H/HH or 34GG/H. I've not tried ELomi, but they're a sister brand to Freya and Fantasie which can both run big in the cup. It could also be a style issue combined with the size being a bit off - gaping can be because of the cup shape, or because the band is too big!

What sort of shape are your breasts? Also, try to have an objective look at your breasts and work out whether they;

  1. Are fuller at the top, bottom, or kind of equally full
  2. are quite high set on your torso, or quite low (this is more about where the root of them is rather than sagging)
  3. is the root of each breast wide or narrow - do they go round under your arms or are they more narrow and on the front?
  4. what size of gap do you have between them in the centre
  5. what sort of condition are they in (i.e. have babies etc made them softer or emptier etc>)

So my new bras arrived, i ordered 40j, 40jj, and 42j to try - all panache

did the scooping etc and all of them are too big, the 42j cups are way too big (flappy at the top of the cups despite scooping for my life) but it felt good on my back and could only get a couple of fingers in

the 40 j was a bit better cup fit but felt too tight

the 40 jj way too big in the cup

I think I must have funny shaped boobs.

Shall I try a 42H or HH ? or other?

Which bra and is the extra space only at the top? Are you filling the bottom?

Report
lubeybooby · 26/03/2014 17:03

on the 42j the bottom and sides of cup seem fine, gore in the right place, but there is quite a lot of 'flappy' room in the top of the cups

the 40 j was a better cup fit, again sides bottom and gore all good, less extra space at the top of the cups, though still a little on the big side.

the 40jj I didn't fill at all. I could have stuffed it with socks.

all fully scooped for each try on.

all panache bras if that makes any difference

Which specific bra(s), can you link at all? The flappy room may be a shape issue

all sizes were that one ^

I will add that there was no balconette effect with them at all though, my entire boobs from just above the 'root' were totally inside the cups, with room at the top.

Panache bras, are a rule, are narrow, deep, and quite tall. So it may be that it's not the perfect shape for you. Although it's described as a balcony there are elements of full cup about the style especially in bigger cup sizes.

I'm wondering if you maybe need something with a lower, slightly shallower cup. However, I know the range is very limited. Curvy kate does a 40J, and they are notorious for having softer, stretchier bands than Panache so they could be worth trying - there are a few here. Maybe one of the balconettes would be worth a try.

Other options: pretty as a pin up, although it's a full cup I believe the cups are quite closed at the top. Try the 40J to start, maybe the JJ as Bravissimo cups can be a bit smaller than panache. Bands not as firm IME hence trying the 40
alana, a nice balcony/ette with great uplift. Runs small - try the 40JJ
fantasie elodie - again, looser bands than panache and also wider and a bit shallower in the cup (but not as much as curvy kate). Supposed to be very comfortable. Try the 40J and maybe JJ.

Size wise, if you want to stick with that panache one I would say that if the 40J is right in the cups then I would try the 42HH as they should have the same volume

Thank you!

Right time to return the wrong ones then and try a few more. Flowers

i'd b v grateful for help too - i'm 31 under and 36 over and dread the flesh bulging out over the sides at the front and around the bra strap on the back as much seen on late middle aged ladies (which i am)

john lewis used to estimate me as 34b and more recently as 32dd but none of the bras they recommended looked ok (they implied it was my fault/age) and so i reverted to the uniqlo smooth all in ones ...

any suggestions?

Size wise -30dd,30e, 32dd, 32d. I posted questions on Sunday about breast shape -could you answer those and maybe we could narrow it down for you

addle · 27/03/2014 16:08

Thank you -

fullest toward the bottom
they are highish on my torso
and wideish I think (more so than they used to be)
there's about an inch between them with no bra
they are softer as a result of having children

OK, it sounds like you need quite a wide-ish wire, and probably a balconette style. A taller cup (especially in a moulded bra) will just give you gaping at the top. Does that sound familiar?

If so, I'd suggest looking at Curvy Kate (especially those like Tease Me, Thrill Me, Fleurty, Entice), Tutti Rouge, Freya half cups (padded ones not the balcony), bravissimo own brand half cups, and possibly Cleo Maddie. Possibly the Cleo Juna too - it might be a bit narrow but if it's not it's a very good bra.

Ok.

30 round and 37 cup.
Will be getting non wired as breastfeeding still - if that makes a difference.

Pre pregnancy wore 34 or 36 c. During pregnancy went up to a d
Now feeding wearing a 36dd.

Help please :-)

SorrelForbes · 28/03/2014 10:26

Your measurement suggest a 30F. However, the cup volume of a 30F is roughly equivalent to the cup volume of a 36D so actually smaller than your current 36DD. If you scoop whilst wearing the 36DD, is there any overspill, quadboob, under arm bulge?

You can wear wires whilst breast feeding. Just make sure the bra fits
properly and the wires aren't resting on any breast tissue.

Rachie1986 · 28/03/2014 12:55

Perhaps a little quad boob. Issue is cos I'm breastfeeding they get quite full and push out anyway.. Perhaps better to wait til I stop feeding and then try and get a good fitting bra?!

I would say no, Rachie. 36 is a really wrong size for you and offers no support, you will end up with a neck and back pain like this. Just search for bargains.

I found a 34e (!) seemed to fit in a mothercare nursing bra (which is what I needed!). 36 was too big but 34 felt tight so perhaps I measured wrong to get 30 round!
Tried a 34dd and initially ok but not when I scooped!! The e was much better.

Thanks for help! Will def be remeasuring when I stop feeding and potentially change sizes (again!)

Report
SorrelForbes · 28/03/2014 17:47

The 34E was probably too tight because the cup was too small. You need at least a 30FF maybe bigger.
