So I literally have no eyebrows, tried pens and pencils, what else can i try...

I have approx half an eyebrow on either side. I've had this since birth, they've always been like that and extremely sparse too. Im getting really jealous of all the people with fab brows at the moment. my most recent purchase was the laura geller triple pen thingy, complete waste of money! every colour it comes in goes on red so my brows just look really badly drawn on. apart from that tried most eyebrow pencils, a few powders etc. just nothing seems to look natural on me.

I think tattoos may be the next step but i really want to try everything before that as im not s keen on tattooed brows. especially from going to hardly anything to bold, full on drawn on lines.

What else should i try?

Just been reading up on HD brows, they do look good! Might post and see if anyone has had them done in my town so could recommend a salon....

PurpleBoot · 23/03/2014 22:34

Presumably they are no good if you don't have any eyebrow hair at all??

balenciaga · 23/03/2014 22:54

Semi permanent make up.

I had mine done a year ago as also have none existent brows. Best thing I've ever done tbh

If you do it though do your research and go somewhere decent Fgs Grin

Atbeckandcall · 23/03/2014 23:30

You do need to have some bunny fluff at the least but go to a salon that does it and they'll have a look before you book in.

Jumpenpips100 · 04/10/2015 22:13

Has anyone tried tattooing or semi permanent brows? They had a good review on radio 4 women's hour but I am nervous! I have no brows left and fed up painting them on and finding they have gone half way through a busy day. Has anyone tried semi permanent brows?
Thanks j

Did someone say, "eyebrow tattoo"?

I've been in a constant battle with mine since I was about fourteen when I realised that one of the reasons I looked so odd was the blonde, sparse eyebrows which contrasted wonderfully (naaat) with my natural brown hair. I spent a disproportionate amount of time every morning filling them in, worrying about them sliding off in hot/wet weather and generally hating my face without them drawn on. I got them tattooed on about 2.5 years ago and I love them. I had them topped up last about 2-3 months ago and this is what they look like with no make up on. I do still shade them in a bit because obviously "strong" brows are in and you wouldn't want that on your face semi-permanently.

It's expensive- I paid £300 to get them done initially, and I'm told that's very reasonable, then you have to have them topped up at least once a year. But for me it's worth it, it was that much of an issue for me before. You do hear some horror stories about marker pen brows but I'm very pleased with mine.

In your case I would look at home tinting first; there's a kit you can get from Boots which costs around £9 which does a good few applications and is straightforward to use. If there enough to hair there you might find that you're satisfied with the result that gives you, but if they're as sparse as mine are you'll likely still be wanting to plump them out a bit. Benefit Gimme Brow is very good, would recommend. And tattooing could be a reasonable last resort!

So I literally have no eyebrows, tried pens and pencils, what else can i try...

Eye brow extensions. Cost about 25-30 and look natural.

Vixxfacee · 04/10/2015 23:42

Go to the HD brows website and put in your postcode. Trained HD brows therapists will come up in your area.

Fluffyears · 05/10/2015 01:19

A colleague has hd brows and they are really nice. I have crazy hard to handle brows so if you wanna swap and deal with long black bushy monobrow lets do itGrin my threading lady keeps mine normal.

biscuitkumquat · 05/10/2015 01:27

I was in the same position as you, and eventually decided I was get brow tattoos.

But, I was really worried that being a woman of a certain age, they would look a bit OTT, but I had a technique called Embrowdery, where they apply individual feather strokes. It honestly is fantastic. It cost me £200, and has lasted now for about 18 months so far.

If I'm going out, I do still apply a bit of powder, just to define them a bit more, but I actually have full eyebrows.

Would highly recommend. I may have before & after pics, I'll have a look

I have very sparse blonde hairs at the end of my brows (but full at the start weird!) and have found a blonde waterproof wax pencil lasts the best. I found one on ebay for a couple of pounds by Laval and it's actually quite good.

squoosh · 05/10/2015 10:31

Castor oil is a good way to stimulate brow growth.

BerylStreep · 05/10/2015 10:42

I use a suqqu felt tip, or I find Trish McEvoy's brow pencil good too.

I also do home tinting, but it only really lasts about 3 or 4 weeks, hence the pencil use too.

I'm quite interested in the brow tattooing if anyone can put up their before & after pics?

cestlavielife · 05/10/2015 11:06

eyebrow tattoo. definitely. they do fade so if you really dont like it you could go back to pencilling/make up. benefit is you can swim get caught in the rain etc and come out with eyebrows! i go to debra robson
www.debrarobsonldn.co.uk/treatments/eyebrow-shaping-and-tattooing.html (i see the assistant as cheaper but good)

big investment for first time but top ups cheaper every 6-9 months.

best thing i did when eyebrows went sparse. make up options just didnt work for me.

BerylStreep · 05/10/2015 12:44

Cestlavie can I ask how much you pay for the first treatment & top ups?

GingerLDN · 05/10/2015 12:51

Maybelline BrowSatin is good. The hazel/blonde one has no red tinge and it is a pencil at one side and filling powder at the other.

Crosbybeach · 05/10/2015 13:02

A friend has just had eyebrows tattooed, she's in her 60s and they look very good indeed. She did her research first and it cost her about £300 I think. But if she hadn't told me I don't think I'd have noticed it wasn't her usual, very good, drawn on eyebrows.

WoodleyPixie · 05/10/2015 13:03

I have similar I think. I have them tinted when I have them waxed. Too much of a wimp or threading, at least with waxing the majority is off in a couple of goes.

When I go in the therapist tints my brows and then waxes them, she says this so she can see everything she is working with. They are getting better now, one eyebrow really doesn't need any shadow (I use a dark brown eyeshadow and apply with a brush) whereas the other is still a bit thinner and so needs shadow to even them out.

Cheshireblue · 05/10/2015 13:03

I have HD brows and love them. However,I got an email for microblading last week and Im defintely interested. I just wont commit until I am convinced with the results!!
Rudy have you had them done?

happyhearts7 · 05/10/2015 13:42

vix1980...I have very sparse eyebrows as a result of overplucking as a teenager (was bullied because of what would be my now very fashionable thick eyebrows) I used pencils etc then 11 years ago I got semi-permanent tattoos......WOW!! What a change to my life! Didn't have to hide under a fringe anymore and gained soooo much in confidence....they were fabulous, so realistic AND my own eyebrows started to also grow back, unfortunately the lady didn't say they needed retouched every number of years and now I'm back to using pencils & shadow (for the moment).

As soon as I've the money gathered up again & find someone excellent (the lady I went to doesn't do it anymore because of health reasons) I'll be in there like a shot....
