Because the hair dresser today seemed in captures about my naturally coloured hair vs my age (36) vs about 2 grey hairs
Both my parents went grey in their 20s
I am not sure what has happened as I am stressed to the hilt, generally

I am sure it can't be that unusual. I am light brown/dark blonde

OP posts:
youbethemummylion · 18/03/2014 22:26

Started going grey around 20/21 have had to dye to cover greys since about 27 I am 30 now and if I didnt dye would be completely grey

Sherbert37 · 18/03/2014 22:27

49 and hoping to get to 50 without ever having dyed my hair. Not even for fun. Can't stand the mess. Only the odd grey hair. Must have saved me so much money.

CointreauVersial · 18/03/2014 22:29

Hanging on in there at 47. I shall resist as long as I possibly can, in fact, probably won't bother at all.

I have a few greys, but they are mostly on the top/back of my head, where I can't see them.

magentastardust · 18/03/2014 22:31

I started noticing the odd one just after age 30 -blamed it on being diagnosed with underactive thyroid!
Started getting it dyed at hairdressers around age 32 -needs done every 6 weeks or so-sad times :(

ExcuseTypos · 18/03/2014 22:32

I'm 47 now and sick of dyeing it. And it's bloody expensive. I do not want to go grey yet though.Sad

elQuintoConyo · 18/03/2014 22:33

Started gping pure white at 18.
Started dying the buggers at 22.
Still dying at 39.
I have given myself a cut off age for dying: 75 Grin

ListenToTheLady · 18/03/2014 22:34

Since I was 40-ish I have noticed more grey hairs and that when I dye it, it gets rid of the mousey look that comes from the greys being intermingled. Overall though, my hair is still dark brown, so I don't dye it that often, and usually neglect it over the winter. About to do it soon.

My granddad had dark hair into his 70s!

DramaAlpaca · 18/03/2014 22:37

I'm almost 50 and have only just noticed a couple of grey hairs recently.

Yika · 18/03/2014 22:42

Not yet dyeing at 47 though in the last couple of years have started to get noticeably greyer. Will hold off as long as my natural mousy blonde keeps the upper hand. If the greys start to dominate the dye bottle is coming out!

goingmadinthecountry · 18/03/2014 23:12

Just had my first few grey hairs blended in with a few highlights for the first time ever - just turned 50. My dad still isn't particularly grey at 85. Mousey hair has to have a few benefits!! Love it because it's not much of a change.

WildThong · 18/03/2014 23:12

Early 30s for me. It started gradually, then one day I woke up with a silver parting! That's what it felt like anyway.

Oh and my pubes too Blush

williaminajetfighter · 18/03/2014 23:15

33...

Iggi101 · 18/03/2014 23:18

40s and just the odd one (or three) that I pull out. Only part of my body that isn't showing my age...

juneybean · 18/03/2014 23:19

24/25 I think

WandaDoff · 18/03/2014 23:36

I am 34 & I haven't had any grey hairs yet.

My parents went grey early & my younger brother has quite a few greys

They all have dark hair & I'm more mousey/dark blonde.

MIL never had any grey, she still had brown hair when she died at 72.
She had very fine hair, like a young child.

AlternativeMoniker53 · 18/03/2014 23:47

I'm 37 and have only ever found one grey hair. I am naturally mousy blond with highlights so they wouldn't be very obvious, the one I (DH!) found was a different texture though, wiry, thick and sticking up.

Shimmyshimmy · 19/03/2014 07:06

I'm 42, I have a couple of greys - used to pull them out but they look worse shorter than hair. I might highlight in a few years but I have no intention of a full dye, watched my mother do it for years - she's 82 and still does. She feels a total slave to the process.

Badvoc · 19/03/2014 07:12

17

MrsMellowMellons · 19/03/2014 07:13

I am 50 and only have 1 or 2 greys :). However I do have pendulous breasts down to my elbows !

zookeeper · 19/03/2014 07:42

Lol you beat me to it Mrs M; was just about to post not a single grey hair at 48 but my breasts are oldGrin

Wishfulmakeupping · 19/03/2014 07:45

I was about 25 , I used to work with a girl who went grey a at 16

NearTheWindymill · 19/03/2014 07:56

Similar colour to you OP (light brown). Had highlights from about 16 but only occasionally because it went blonder in the summer anyway. Notice the odd grey hair from about 25 but it really was just the odd one until my mid 40s. Am 54 now and for the last few years I have highlighted more regularly and now have a half head every 12 weeks. It will soon be less than a half head but every six weeks.

My mother and MIL are exactly the same age. MIL went grey in her early 30s my mother like me but highlighted them out. There is a picture of them at DS's christening 18 years ago and my mother looked 20 years younger yet their faces were equally unlined. Both 77 now. My mother has aged but MIL still looks more old ladyish.

I think very dark hair greys earlier

Iwillorderthefood · 19/03/2014 08:07

I was 32 or so when I did it regularly, but started going grey when I was 13. I am almost white at the front now, so dye it. I am not quite ready to look that old at 39. My mum almost totally white by the time she was 42. My dad kept his black hair until much later.

MairzyDoats · 19/03/2014 08:16

Not yet (38) but have noticed a few wispy hairs going white at the front in the past 6 months... So far just pulling them out! My sister is 2 years younger than me with similar colouring and she has loads more greys [gloats]

Beastofburden · 19/03/2014 08:20

Can't remember Grin. What I want to know is when i can stop. Costs a bloody fortune, takes forever. But when I had some time off work recently, I stopped just to see what it looked like and it was hideous. I reckon I will be dying until I retire at this rate Sad. I would love glossy silver locks but what I get is dead rat.
