What do you take your makeup off with?

I have been using makeup wipes, but they give you wrinkles, apparently, so I need something else.

I've tried OCM in the past, but need something that can be used daily.

Can't be: Expensive, strong smelling, contain alcohol, be difficult to find.

Any suggestions?

No7 cleanser (either normal/dry or dry/v dry depending on how my skin is behaving) with cotton and eye make up remover. I use the No7 Hot cloth cleanser about 4-5 times a week too in the evening when I have a bath, it gives me a good deep clean.
I avoid using wipes if I absolutely have to, horrible things!

IDismyname · 17/03/2014 19:48

I'm a Liz Earle Hot Cloth fan.

Chloerose75 · 17/03/2014 19:53

No7 wipes if I'm feeling lazy. They are the only wipes I like.

S&G peaches and clean for a cheaper option. Botanics make up remover lotion with marshmallow also does the job.

Lancôme Bifacil or Clinique take the day off are very good (oily type) but nice

Also like Lancôme lotiony type make up remover but I forget the name. Something glacé?!

BrandyAlexander · 17/03/2014 19:55

Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser which takes pretty much everything off and is very gentle. However, if I have been using long lasting make up then I use MAC oil cleanser and Nars eye make up remover.

Er...water? Grin

Another almond oil/ cotton wool fan here. And I use hot cloths (Muslin square or flannel) for rest of face.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 17/03/2014 20:04

Oh and if I run out of my usual stuff vaseline wiped off with wet cotton wool does the job very nicely.

ophiotaurus · 17/03/2014 20:07

Garnier micellar water here. Gets liquid eyeliner off no problem.

BoJolly · 17/03/2014 20:10

Dead Sea mineral soap & water.

I have very sensitive skin and this is the only thing that doesn't irritate it yet gets all my make up off.

Cocolepew · 17/03/2014 20:14

Used to use soap but I've moved onto micellar water, the Garnier one is half price in Tesco.

I can't put my moisturiser on after it though, it sits on my face and smears when I try to rub it in.

lovingmatleave · 17/03/2014 20:16

Soap and Glory as below. Removes everything but doesn't dry skin out too much.

Bunbaker · 17/03/2014 20:17

Another Liz Earle user here. It is very easy to use and ideal for lazy people like me. I have some cheaper hot cloth cleanser from Superdrug lined up for when I finish the Liz Earle.

SuzanneSays · 17/03/2014 20:19

Hello Quietly- I live abroad and get it from health food shops- but you could probably get it in a good supermarket or a bigger boots? I love it as you can give your face a really good massage too (when you can be bothered!).

GeorginaWorsley · 17/03/2014 20:21

Old fashioned cold cream plus hot flannel.

Millyblods · 17/03/2014 22:41

I use baby wipes fragrance free and then I give my face a good rub with them to remove dead cells. They don't give you wrinkles.

Bunbaker · 17/03/2014 22:44

I'm sure I have read on beauty pages of magazines that the beauty gurus only recommend using make up wipes as an emergency as they don't really get all your make up off.

Qix · 17/03/2014 23:53

Have been using Eve Lom forever, but just bought a new waterproof mascara that would not budge. Have switched to olive oil on my eyes and it is a revelation!

hollyisalovelyname · 18/03/2014 00:25

Johnsons wipes and Garnier eye make up remover

singaporeswing · 18/03/2014 05:03

MAC or Shu Uemura oil, then Alpha H cleanser. Occasionally micellar water.

auldspinster · 18/03/2014 12:10

Micellar water if i'm feeling lazy, the new Garnier one is particularly good. Otherwise it's either nspa hot cloth cleanser from asda or soap and glory hot cloth cleanser taken off with a facecloth and hottish water. If i've got lots of eye make up on i'll take it off with a biphase eye make up remover.

mill3003 · 19/03/2014 17:36

Sensitive baby wipes. Cheap & cheerful from local cheapy shops! My old beauty therapy tutors would murder me if they knew!!

James04 · 19/03/2014 17:36

Does anyone out there use Environ products?

crestfall · 19/03/2014 18:22

Vaseline and toilet paperBlush

Loopylu84 · 19/03/2014 19:16

Basic olive oil for eye makeup-use a cotton pad and press on the eyes for at least 10 seconds-even the thickest mascara will come away like a dream

For the rest of the face try Dr Bronners organic rose soap-it's quite pricey (for soap!) but one bar lasts me about 4 months, used with a warm flannel it's terrific

NUFC69 · 19/03/2014 20:22

Coconug oil, followed by the hot cloth wipe. My skin feels amazing since I have been doing this - very soft (I am almost 66 so am very pleased that I discovered coconut oil after reading MN threads).
