Petroleum jelly for nail growth - testers needed!

I have a tub of pound shop petroleum jelly which is the same as vaseline brand.

I sometimes use it on eyelashes and eyebrows overnight as it gives them a boost and on my daughter and I both notice that our lashes grow quicker and fuller.

Recently I got too much jelly out of the tub and rubbed the excess into the end of my finger. The next morning it was noticeable that the nail looked better than the others.

For a week I have now been rubbing a teeny tiny amount into my finger nails, cuticle and surrounding skin. The nail growth seems to have accelerated and my nails are strong, flexible and have a healthy sheen in their natural state.

Does anyone else rub petroleum jelly into their finger nails and get great results?

Anyone want to test it for a week and see if their nails grow faster/look better?

My nails are the best they've been for ages and my mum's are so good she's wearing nail varnish which she hasn't done in years!

I have been applying vaseline to my nails each night before bed for a week now. I am amazed at the difference, I had weak, flakey, splitting nails, they already look slightly presentable. Will give it another couple of weeks and report back. I am 51 and have never had nice, strong nails, if this works I will be telling the world!

I have been applying it for 4 or 5 nights. There is no obvious difference at the moment, but I'm going to persevere for longer.

I shall give it a go too.

None of them have worked so here goes with Vaseline....

What about if you've got nail varnish on? Can you still apply the Vaseline?

I missed a night and didn't think there was any difference. However, I used the petroleum jelly last night and I can notice the difference.

I'm gonna give this a go also, since pregnancy my nails and hair have been shit.

How are we doing with our experiment?
It's a great idea and seems to work.

I've done it for three nights, have a dark varnish on my nails so haven't checked how they look but they are noticeably harder and feel stronger.

My nails have improved using it. They're less inclined to break. Mire flexible. I am also using Mavala though that hasn't done anything up til now

just reporting in, thanks, my nails have never looked so fab. I whitened under with a pencil and painted on the barbara daly goodbye yellow and oh wow can't stop looking at them they look like stick on fakes!

I just wanted to say that I have been using Vaseline night and morning on my nails for a week and I am very definitely seeing a huge difference. Stronger, less inclined to catch ,and looking very healthy.

I am starting today, I would love my nails to stop splitting into layers, so looking forward to trying .

I rub Burt's Bees cuticle butter into my nails every night as I get really dry skin around my nails. Since starting that, my nails have grown faster, are stronger and look the best they've ever looked.

So I think it's just the massage that's doing it.

That said, I'm in! It's dirt cheap and if my theory is right then it can replace my BB stuff.

I am a fan of Nail envy though, it made a huge difference when all my nails split and peeled off after ivf. I think it depends on your nail type.
