Comfortable (really comfortable!) ballet pumps

Preferably the bendy sort with elastic round the top. Are there any reliable online sources? I've got a great pair from Pretty Ballerinas but the cost was eye watering and I don't particularly like their current fabrics. I'm off to Paris in a couple of weeks for a mix of work and sightseeing so need some shoes that I can walk around in while also being smart enough for wearing with a dress...

Thank you! There are some great options here which I will investigate - there is a Clarks round the corner from work but I never think of it for adult shoes.

I did get excited at the idea of super comfortable Lanvin pumps (had an "I work hard, I deserve nice things" moment but then saw the price and realised I don't work that hard!). But am now confident I will be able to pull off elegant and comfortable in a single pair of shoes...

Clarks Originals are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn.

TippyHaha · 11/03/2014 20:33

AnneBronte Hi. I've always found my Stylesnobs true to size and just take my usual 38 with no problems.

There's a sale page on that link I posted - you might get yourself a bargain! Or if you're a 37 I think there's a couple of pairs on eBay at the moment.

TheScreamingHeebieJeebies · 11/03/2014 20:37

The Topshop ones are ridiculously comfy and v pretty. They might be dead by the end of your trip but as they're only £16, meh!

Glitterfeet · 11/03/2014 23:42

I was going to suggest a brand like Hush Puppies, they do make comfortable shoes.

I've just bought some from Foot Cushion. They're not the bendy ones that you're after but I could walk in them around a city. Slight heel , great memory foam base, they look like any other pump from above. I'm impressed for the price.

Ypu can also get some great inserts for shoes now.

polyhymnia · 11/03/2014 23:51

I like Pretty Ballerinas. Very comfortable.

ocelot41 · 12/03/2014 07:22

Watching with interest - I find my feet really swell up when I have been on them all day as well as in the summer when its hot. Clarks ballet flat often fit well in the shop but end up giving me awful blisters in real life - I am tired if wasting money on flats I can't wear for more than an hour!

Anyone else find this and has found that another brand have more 'give'? I really like the look of Stylesnob but don't want to spend eighty quid only to have them languish in the bottom of my wardrobe!

rollonthesummer · 12/03/2014 18:27

Has anyone tried these ones??

freezingmytitsoff · 12/03/2014 18:36

Haven't bought the new look ones but was tryin them on the other day and there very flimsy, no support at all.

Terramirabilis · 12/03/2014 18:39

Do Stylesnob ship to the US? I can't find an answer on their website.

CockBollocks · 12/03/2014 18:41

The most comfy ballet flats I have are a pair of Toms I found in the sale.

They are soooooo comfy, but quite pricey when not on offer. I can stand in them for hours and hours.

carrie74 · 12/03/2014 18:46

Banana Republic do good ballet slippers, I prefer the leather ones to the patent ones. They've got cushioned soles too which are great.

Jacksterbear · 12/03/2014 18:51

I have those New Look ones. They look lovely and are extremely soft, so do not rub in the slightest and are very comfy. However, support-wise you might as well be barefoot! Great for pottering around but no good for properly walking anywhere.

Swannykazoo · 12/03/2014 18:55

Anybody else have heel rub misery? I'd love to wear ballet pumps but heels get shredded in no time. Even fit flop ones Sad

Picturesinthefirelight · 12/03/2014 18:55

I'm a bit put off the Bloch ones as I feel like a company such as Bloch shouldn't be promoting a style of shoe that gives no support to the arch....BUT

Are they really comfortable. I can't usually wear very flat shoes. & poor dd with her high instep can't keep them on.

TheJumped · 12/03/2014 19:24

They are v comfy indeed. Size down if they slip off your feet, they're slightly large fitting. But the stretchy bit at the back helps with that. My holy grail ballet flats have leather in and out, stretchy back and a not too round toe, more almondy. Bloch tick all the boxes, they're just too bloody expensive!

mamijacacalys · 12/03/2014 19:24

these?
I worn mine today for the first time and they were lovely - no rubbing, aching or blistering whatsoever!
A tad expensive but my other pair from this range are 6 years old and going strong...

TheJumped · 12/03/2014 19:24

(I have a high instep too)

Picturesinthefirelight · 12/03/2014 21:02

I seem to spend extraordinary amounts if money in Bloch as it is. £56 for tap shoes & £32 for jazz shoes anyone.

Brillenbar · 12/03/2014 21:12

Second banana republic. Padded soul is so comfy it's almost like wearing trainers!

BewitchedBefuzzledBewildered · 12/03/2014 21:15

I was going to suggest making your first stop the repetto shop in Paris. The most comfy ballerina shoes I have ever had.

fififolle · 12/03/2014 21:56

There's lots of Bloch ballet flats on eBay...

SilverSixpence · 12/03/2014 21:57

Got some really really comfy and pretty ones from Wallis recently, the metallic textured ones with gold bows. Was really pleased with them as they normally cause me problems

GraduallyGoingInsane · 12/03/2014 22:02

I like Bloch and Repetto, although I am narrow footed and my wider footed DM didn't get on with Repettos.

On a more wallet friendly front, Topshop are very soft and don't need breaking in but the soles are very thin when walking far, and you can sometimes get Dune ones in TK Maxx for about £20.
