Help me build an autumn wardrobe!

Neena28 · 12/08/2006 18:46

I'm 5'8" size 12 on bottom and 10/12 on top. Have 32 F norks and still a bit of baby tummy (not too much).

I have shoulder length brown curly hair, very pale skin and green eyes.

I had a really crap experience on Thursday with a women that is the mother of one of ds's old playgroup chums. She is always really well dressed in a kind of funky quite fashionable way and made some pointed comments about mums letting themselves go etc etc. Whilst I think she was being ott she has got a point. I used to be really smart at work and going out but can't get the working from home/stay at home thing at all.

I have thought about it for the last couple of days and would like to blow £3/400 on a new autumn/winter wardrobe that is funky/fashionable but also suitable for the life I now lead.

Would really like some serious guidance and help as I do think I am stuck in a rut and I know it's making me not so bothered about my hair/make up etc.

Some things to note: I have quite slim calves but they are really pasty so would need trousers or tights with things. Have looked at the boots on Duo of Bath but can't even decide which ones are good or not. (would quite like the tights and flat boots thing I think)I have tried all the tanners but none seem to look ok all. I would like to disguise my tum a bit and not look to 'mumsy' as I am in my twenties.

Please help! I'll answer any more questions that might help but would love some of you stylish ones to take me under your wings. Thanks

Tartan is apparently going to be big in the autumn/winter. There is a lovely tartan skirt in Monsoon, Beatrice Check Skirt (for some reason you can't link to individual pages on Monsoon. It is £55, would look gorgeous with boots and a piece of knitwear.

Sounds like with your figure you'd look good in a bin liner. She's jealous, don't worry. Get down to Primark and see what colours are in for Winter. Buy one or two more expensive bits, perhaps a coat or long cardi.

Neena28 · 12/08/2006 19:24

Thanks so much all...could you link to anything?

What kind of boots with jeans tucked in? Have liked that look on others but never quite worked out whether it would look good on me.
I have bought a coat from M&S limited collection it's brown double breasted with cream stitching will try and link.

My problem is I think that i can get a good top but then can't make it into an outfit iyswim.

Are there any shops I should head to especially.

Malory where do you live?

xx

neena dont rush into buying stuff now for winter as u mightnt get to wear it til november, with our climate.
plus the shops are only beginning to get stuff in,
take a trip to one of those shops that have a personal shopper and even if u buy just one thing, that visit, it will boost your moral immensely just having a bit of fun and learing what works

neena the limited have fab boots for jeans this winter in cream, i got htem last year in brown , they might do same colour again this year.

i was in debenhams and nine west had some funky boots in green leather for autumn , long and green owuld kinda go with alot of colours, even black, in a chic way , with green corsage or something to balance the boots, alos in brown and short wedge bootsi n brn and black. good price too.

go for a really nice cardi/jkt, a big thing this season, that will look good over jeans as well as skirts, day or night and be functional.
i am on the hunt for one myself
something wth a cowl neck and wraps around, grey i think is the colour for that. peru na might well do something thou i am not a fan of per una more the limited.

will link if i see anyhting

Getting to the point of travelling anywhere Malory! I'm in Leicestershire so can get to most places reasonably easily.

Thanks for the help. I have read the trinny and sus books etc and feel like I do have an idea but it's when I get in the shop I bottle it to a point.

Please find me some individual things that would be great...point me in the direction.

I do like the idea of everthing on Malory's list and on Hermenkne's too. But what and where are the great debate!
