Am sick of wearing jeans and plain tops, want something a bit erm prettier ( i think).

It's an adult course but in a college full of teenagers so I don't want to look like i'm trying to be 16 but don't want to look like my gran either (haven't actually got a gran).

Budget is as cheap as poss and especially clothes from DP as my mum has a card

It's full time so need a fair few tops and a few bottoms and advice on whats sort of shoes with what too.

Oh and I know i'm there to learn and it's not a fashion parade LOL

New Look do basics for cheap

A bright pink coloured top and blue jeans would be fab, not too try hard but still comfortable.

What about combats? Nice linen trousers for about £15 in there

nutcracker · 10/08/2006 20:41

I like combats but am never sure what I should be wearing on my feet. I have one pair but they are too small now

Pink top and jeans sounds nice.

Also do you think some cheap bracelets and stuff would help make the clothes look nice ??

nutcracker · 10/08/2006 20:44

I like dresses but never feel comfy in them, but seeing as you've recommended them I will go and have a look and try them on and see.

Stuff that you feel comfortable in is the most important thing

Its no good going out and blasting your mums card on fashionable items which youll wear once then realise you dont like them/feel like a prick in them

Buy some staples, (i sound like a fecking surrey wife)

plain tshirts, diff colours. They do them in new look or river island for 2 for a £10
Some jeans, smart but comfy
Combats
A hooded cardigan or top

As for your feet, I wear trainers or boots in the winter. Maybe flat boots with the jeans? Converse type trainers for the combats?

nutcracker · 10/08/2006 20:50

LOL WB, great advice though, it's really helpful, thanks.

oh and meant to add also what sort of bag ?? Carrier bag LOL ? Will have folders and other junk.

OP posts:
WelshBoris · 10/08/2006 20:53

You should try and get to the sales now if you can,see if there are any bags left

Something big, over the shoulder type thing?

NOT A HELLO KITTY RUCKSACK

Thanks

nutcracker · 10/08/2006 20:56

LOL @ Hello Kitty

I do have a bag that my stuff would fit in, it's a gold/silvery sort of colour, woudl that be ok ??

OP posts:
tiredemma · 10/08/2006 20:57

I wore the same crap near on week in week out, as did most of the other women on the course..

BIG bag, to fit EVERYTHING in.

nutcracker · 10/08/2006 20:58

I knew you were going to say both of those things emma

Am pretty sure I won't look the worst so thats ok

OP posts:
sophabeszabo · 10/08/2006 21:00

if there is an aldo near you, they do great bags (different sizes but some big enough for folders and books) they are not expensive but are rip offs of nice designer bags....

hear what you're saying. until recently i didn't feel comfy in anything but jeans, but i figure i'm 34, time to expand my range!!!

WelshBoris · 10/08/2006 21:01

Silver gold is fine, the colour doesnt really matter as long as its hard wearing and can fit stuff in

nutcracker · 10/08/2006 21:02

Hmm not heard of aldo but will see if I can find one.

Thanks for all the help, i'll be the best dressed there

NomDePlume · 10/08/2006 21:02

Well done on going for the course, nutty !

I know what you mean about college and clothes. I don't want to go looking frumpy, but don't want to look like a 17 year old wannabe .

nutcracker · 10/08/2006 21:04

Thanks am determined to get my head round it this time.

The clothes thing is a minefield NDP They should do a short course on what to wear at college LOL.
