Impulse purchases you regret..

I had my eyebrows threaded today in Superdrug as there was a special offer on and I thought (on impulse) why not try it. Bad move..

Now it's not the end of the world as they will grow back, but needless to say I will not be repeating the experience!

Would anyone else like to share comfortingtales of daft impulsive purchases?

Marsha you've just reminded of an awful shoe purchase. Fold up ballet flats which I got via a groupon deal. They were unwearable, kept falling off and had to be binned.

Thank god I didn't pay full price, or I'd have been really pissed off.

Yy, they are an actual pair of spikes worn & signed by Bolt.

GossamerHailfilter · 01/03/2014 15:55

A Cambridge satchel.

Its lovely and I love the colour but its so inconvenient to unbuckle it every time I want to go in my bag.

FrugalFashionista · 01/03/2014 16:00

A juicer victim here too Wink

flippinada · 01/03/2014 16:02

Ah, another failed juicer Grin.

I distinctly remember that I really, really wanted mine and was so excited when I got it. It didn't last. Ditto ice cream maker.

Haha me too. But it broke before I regretted it. Hunk of junk.

Flip me too, me too. They get to stay because they were the price of a posh sandwich and drink.

flippinada · 01/03/2014 16:03

The excitement didn't last is what I mean. The juicer is still very much around and taking up space!

Mine were a similar price Marsha. Full price about £25 a pair which considering how flimsy and poorly constructed they were was a bloody cheek, frankly.

Knee pads for crawling pub Hmm

Not expensive but wtf was I thinking?

Whatnamenext · 01/03/2014 16:16

Pfb!

Not pub. Damn you autocorrect.

Whatnamenext · 01/03/2014 16:17

Oh FFS just realised this is on style and beauty. Got distracted with juicer confessions.

boodles · 01/03/2014 16:25

A mulberry handbag.

CiderwithBuda · 01/03/2014 16:25

Half my wardrobe! I think I'm slim and tall and willowy. I'm not.

FrugalFashionista · 01/03/2014 16:26

A fellow ice cream maker victim here too Wink
I won mine in a recipe contest during my poor student days in the economically depressed and gray 1990s and to my defense used it quite a lot matcha frozen yogurt anyone?

  • but not in recent years...

Style mistakes? - too numerous and depressing to list Grin

santamarianovella · 01/03/2014 16:39

Wedge trainers, tried to love them but I couldn't pretend anymore, they are truly vile,
I bought a juicer too,wish I hadn't ,used it for a few monts,and then couldn't be bothered with it.

GossamerHailfilter · 01/03/2014 16:42

Thought of another - a really nice tan coloured knitted dress from Dickens and Jones - it makes me look lik a fat turd :(.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/03/2014 16:47

Grin I had a juicer years ago.
The DC wanted to make a drink when the dishwasher was broken so I had to clean the poxy thing by hand.
They used grapes, apples, oranges (and got very little juice ) so we added tinned pineapple.

It wasn't worth the effort or the price of the fruit TBH.

Clothes-wise. Loads.

A crushed velvet dress that I thought looked fabulous (it didn't) and it was way too short.
And all those nail varnishes (for Christmas) that I never wear and end up giving to DD.

The search for the Perfect Red Lipstick that doesn't make me look like a Transvestite Hooker.

coffeeinbed · 01/03/2014 16:47

Goat yogurt is lovely.

talulahbelle · 01/03/2014 16:48

Juicer - although DH used it to juice practically an entire tree's worth of apples to make cider with, so not a mistake for him.

IPL laser thing. Works fine, but I got pregnant shortly after buying it so can't currently use it (not sure why, but the instructions say not to)

Ice-cream maker. Although I have plans to start making frozen yogurt with it if the weather picks up this year.

Leather suit style jacket - which I have worn once and can't part with despite the fact it doesn't suit me as it was so expensive.

Hmm, I need to think about purchases more carefully!

Nocomet · 01/03/2014 17:01

This, it was in M&S sale, it looked more olive green in the shop.

It's a 16 and free to anyone who wants it Grin

Really enjoying all of these and so glad it's not just me! Does anyone have a juicer that they really love and use all the time?

To balance it out I have some wonderful bargains - but that's for another thread.

Oh, another one - does anybody remember 80s make up? The first thing I bought was an orange and black eyeshadow set from Mary Quant. Although not really a mistake because I loved it at the time.

EugeneKrabs · 01/03/2014 17:07

Tally lash - the IPL won't harm your baby/risk your pregnancy but because if the hormonal changes, they aren't recommended because if the increased risk of things like hyper pigmentation and skin reactions/sensitivities.

EugeneKrabs · 01/03/2014 17:08

tallulah, not tally lash, cursed ipad

WeightyKaty · 01/03/2014 17:15

I've had a juicer for 2 weeks and it's fab. I understand this may wear off!
