I like the dog stuff but they stopped making it
Why? :(
But yes I like cath kidston, I think it was a very clever idea

Orla likely duvet sets are really comfortable btw. I get mine from tkmaxx thou

ginmakesitallok · 25/02/2014 17:58

Yes some stuff. My d neices gave me a ck purse for Christmas and I love it!

Cocolepew · 25/02/2014 17:58

Yes love it.

SuperWifeANDMum · 25/02/2014 17:59

Apparently she doesn't use any of her own products as they are not her own style and refers to her product range as 'fussy' She also doesn't like housewives.

Procrastinating · 25/02/2014 17:59

I have read a few interviews with her, the interviewers always comment on the fact that she has no 'Cath Kidston' style stuff in her own house.

buttercrumble · 25/02/2014 18:01

Used to but sick of seeing it now.

Missred · 25/02/2014 18:02

No.
Sadly I think saturated market now IMO. Shame, as early stuff was lovely, but you see CK copies just about everywhere.

Owllady · 25/02/2014 18:03

I thought she had sold it tbh
I don't think it's unusual she doesn't have it her own house either. I have a textiles degree though, it would drive you insane I think - being surrounded by your business idea. It's like with anything.
I thought, correct me if I am wrong, she isn't actually a print person either -rather a businesswoman?
I know orla likely us an actual artist teacher etc

TeacupDrama · 25/02/2014 18:05

was nice but now everywhere also the all over kidston look is horrible but the odd piece can be lovely like anything once it is everywhere it starts to look wrong same could be said of any trend like union jack cushions in different colour combos first was original now it is yuck

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/02/2014 18:05

No, overly fussy and twee. Walking into one of the shops is enough to induce a headache. Emma Bridgewater isn't much better.

tougholdbird · 25/02/2014 18:06

No

ProbablyCaroline · 25/02/2014 18:07

No. I remember her very first shop...and even then I thought "But I can get that down Walworth Road in the charity shop for 50p!"

plutarch14 · 25/02/2014 18:08

No. It's over. It's such a specific 'look' that it could only be just a trend, not classic in any way. When it first came out it had a quite attractive air of being homely and domestic in a 1950s sort of way.Now it's been reproduced on every market stall and comes across as tacky. It looks a bit silly on grown women imo.

polyhymnia · 25/02/2014 18:09

No way. Twee and done to death. shops remind me of something at a theme park.

plutarch14 · 25/02/2014 18:12

Ha - just read that article. As if CK gives a bollocks what some journalist thinks, she's made millions out of this chintzy crap.

ShoeWhore · 25/02/2014 18:12

No. That's hilarious that Cath doesn't like it either! Grin

Ifyoubuildit · 25/02/2014 18:12

Yes. On mugs

LaurieFairyCake · 25/02/2014 18:13

Yes, very much. Not stuff on its own in general but using the fabrics to make cushions/tablecloths/small things.

I love the London print and I'm gutted at things they discontinued like the wallpapers I liked and the dog beds.

Owllady · 25/02/2014 18:31

The concept was mid to late 40s
I could of done a better job of that article
She was also quite heavily supported by her wealthy family to set up her business, she didn't do it with 50p in her back pocket
I have nothing against her anyway, I think.. it was a brilliant idea. I wish I had thought of it and had a wealthy family :)

BoiledPiss · 25/02/2014 18:34

So the consensus is no then! Grin

Yes for nightwear and some of the kiddie items.

Yes for the spot prints (kindle case, purse etc)

No for the daytime wear

lottieandmia · 25/02/2014 18:36

No

lottieandmia · 25/02/2014 18:36

Fine if it's for children though.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 25/02/2014 18:37

No. The bags are everywhere now, lots of teens seem to have me or fake versions.

All a bit too fussy anyway.
