More affordable version of Ash Virgin high tops?

I'm coveting a pair of Ash Virgin high tops but they are sooo pricey! I just can't justify it.

Here's a link to them on the Ash website.

www.ashfootwear.co.uk/womens-c1/trainers-c21/classic-ash-c58/ash-virgin-taupe-leather-buckle-trainers-p678

Any one spotted a more affordable version anywhere? I've seen the Kurt Geiger ones but they're even more expensive at £160.

I've checked all the sale websites but my size (six) is always sold out, annoyingly.

Any tips gratefully received by both me and my bank balance...

It's a shame about the US isn't it, it used to be so exciting to go there and shop but no real difference with anything anymore. I'm pretty sure the Daniel Footwear shop legit, it's eBay I would worry about. I am trying to get some funds in the old PayPal account then might follow suit Grin

Do it cherrypie32 (love your name by the way - it's making me hungry).

I'm going to have to stick this purchase on my visa card. Don't want to wait until I get paid as they'll probably all have sold out.

Still dithering between sparkly KGs and plain grey Ash. I know this is ridiculous but I haven't bought myself anything for AGES. It's a big deal!

For longevity, style and cool factor I'd def go with Ash Smile

Cherrypie32 · 04/02/2014 20:36

Please post again when you get them to feedback x

I shall! Excitement mounts......

I really like them too. All the colours so no help there!

Those who already have them, what style jeans do you wear them with? I look daft in converse and skinnies so I guess these would look the same. Size 6 feet but skinny ankles, small calves.

PrimalLass · 05/02/2014 06:19

The KGs don't have a zip, if that helps. More of a faff to put on.

PrimalLass · 05/02/2014 06:37

I have ordered the grey suede pair from Amazon.

ginzillas · 05/02/2014 09:40

PrimalLass - thanks SO much for the link. Under £100 was too good an opportunity to miss. I've just ordered the metal ones. Oooh, exciting!

Coumarin I have the same problem with my legs. I have scrawny calves (not matching thighs though, sadly) but I'm going to sod it and wear them with skinnies anyway. I tried size six Converse hi tops on with skinnies yesterday and they looked fine.

Woohoo - cannot wait to get my new purchase. They'll be here in two days. Fingers crossed they fit.

I am also substantial of thigh. Grin I've only tried the sneaker type converse with skinnies so maybe high tips would be alright.

Did you get the grey ones?

Coumarin · 05/02/2014 10:17

*high tops, even.

Coumarin · 05/02/2014 10:18

Ooh sorry seen you got the metallic ones. Love them!

I decided life was too short not to wear sparkly shoes (especially at that price). I've gone on about these trainers so much in the last couple of days, I've even convinced DH they are an investment buy. Ha ha.

Coumarin I've always had a bit of a paranoia about my 'big' feet (and DD has inherited them - her tootsies are growing at a rate of knots - I dread going into Clarks with her!) but I never think that other people with size sixes or sevens look big so I don't reckon other people will notice yours either.

Just an update. I'm now the proud owner of a pair of Ash metallic grey hi tops. They are very sparkly and lovely. Thanks for all the help everyone! Here's a pic....

Can't see your pic but well done, looking out for mine now x

ginzillas · 08/02/2014 22:34

Which ones did you get cherrypie?
Thanks primalLass for the country attire link which helped me decide x

Not bought yet, literally looking out for grey in my size and maybe a bit reduced would be nice. Are they true to size, people seem to say bit big?

ginzillas · 08/02/2014 23:27

Yes, definitely big. I'm a size six to seven. Bought size six Ash and they are roomy. Quite wide too. I've buckled them on the tightest hole!

Done it! Ordered from Cloggs with 10% discount and free delivery so £110, not bad, colour is Perkish whatever that means but looks versatile. Excited GrinGrin

ginzillas · 09/02/2014 08:04

Yay....exciting!

peasandlove · 09/02/2014 08:54

argh now I want some too!

ginzillas · 10/02/2014 20:29

This thread must have boosted Ash's sales in the last few days - not that they need any help.

I love mine but I'm thinking of getting insoles in them though as they really do come up large - especially after a couple of wears.

ginzillas · 28/02/2014 17:13

Update - and not a good one! Wore my hi tops in the rain today and they leaked really badly! I looked underneath and a bit of the sole has come away at the edge.
Massive shame. I contacted country attire and they said it shouldn't have happened and will give me a full refund.
But they don't have any of the metallic ones left in my size.
Back to the drawing board...sigh!
