Would you wear this to a wedding?

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CORAL-COLOURED-DRESS-FROM-NEXT-ONLY-WORN-FOR-AN-HOUR-SIZE-14-/281257657763?pt=UK_Women_s_Dresses&hash=item417c4345a3

Or is it too dull/work dress? The wedding is in April, so I was thinking of getting a cream jacket similar to this:

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ladies-Fitted-Sleeve-6-Button-Colour-Blazer-Jacket-Womens-Size-8-14-/171019310561?pt=UK_Women_s_Coats_Jackets&var=470247479587&hash=item27d18b95e1

I am just worried its a bit blah if everyone else will be in floral numbers- but then will they if its April? The wedding is in a nice hotel with gardens but the wedding itself isn't overly formal- groom and groomsmen in ordinary suits and shirts just matching ties, no bridesmaids and MOTB not wearing hat/fascinator.

Thoughts appreciated!

I should say- I already own the dress, it was bought in the sale last year but I never wore it as put weight on after having DS. it now fits. But I'm not sure it is 'weddingy' enough.

I don't have a suitable jacket though, I would have to buy that.

Also- would these shoes go with?

I would honestly say it's totally fine! It's not my own style at all but looks weddingy and dressy enough to me.

dexter73 · 03/02/2014 12:22

Looks fine to me. Not keen on the shoes though.

RayPurchase · 03/02/2014 12:26

I think the dress is great, definitely 'weddingy'. The jacket is a bit cheap looking though. Those shoes look a bit office-y to me.

RayPurchase · 03/02/2014 12:28

How about these shoes?

josephinebornapart · 03/02/2014 12:32

The dress is fine but not the jacket :(
The jacket looks cheap-too may buttons and funny ruching on sleeves.

I'd put either navy or nude accessories with coral- def not leopard print shoes which look a bit cheap.

And an April wedding will not be warm- it can snow in April. I got married mid March and most people were in winter coats and warm clothing!

MerryMarigold · 03/02/2014 12:41

The dress is nice, but I don't like the belt bit. Perhaps you could look for a better belt, which is a bit less 'twee' and a bit more glam. Don't like shoes. Like idea of jacket, but not that particular one. I like this one but I am not a fashion expert.

dexter73 · 03/02/2014 12:42

I'm probably not the person to ask about nude shoes as I can't stand them! Maybe tan shoes to pick up the belt of the dress? (Sorry I am useless with shoes!)

josephinebornapart · 03/02/2014 12:43

I'd wear a knee length coat and accessorize the dress with a cropped cardigan. maybe ivory or navy cashmere.

Trills · 03/02/2014 12:43

If you dressed it correctly then yes.

Mollydoggerson · 03/02/2014 12:47

Yes I think I would wear it to a wedding.

GreenRedBlueYellowPurple · 03/02/2014 12:51

Knee length coat is a great idea!

Showy · 03/02/2014 12:56

I've been to lots of weddings recently and most of the female guests were wearing dresses like that. Above the knee, bright colours, nude towering heels and a little jacket. It seems to be the wedding uniform.

Financeprincess · 03/02/2014 13:32

The dress is nice, but a cream jacket will make it a bit yawn. The jacket Marigold posted is much better. The shoes are a bit dull, you can do better than that. A lovely pair of shoes will really lift the outfit.

JohnCusacksWife · 03/02/2014 13:44

If the wedding is in the hotel do you need a jacket? I'd go for nude heels and some statement jewellery...maybe turquoise? It always looks good with coral.

The dress is fine but the jacket and shoes are not!

How much time are you going to be outdoors?

I would take a pashmina and not take a jacket/coat/cardigan.

Leviticus · 03/02/2014 16:19

Dress is classic shape so fine I reckon. I can't bear 'wedding' outfits anyway.

The jacket is cheap looking and frumpy, as others have said.

namechange74 · 03/02/2014 16:22

agree with others, keep the dress, nice statement necklace, but no to shoes and jacket. I've got a dress that colour and wear it with tan wedges in the summer which looks great and dresses it down a bit (it's more dressy than yours)

RonaldMcDonald · 03/02/2014 16:49

mmm the jacket is a bit 'roll up roll up'
dress is tres dull

RonaldMcDonald · 03/02/2014 16:51

I think weddings are an opportunity to be outrageously fashionable and often times wrong
don't go safe - go fabulous, it's a celebration

Sammie101 · 03/02/2014 16:55

The shoes Raypurchase posted are gorgeous.

I love the dress, but agree with other posters the jacket looks cheap. But I think a cream jacket with nude shoes would look great Smile

I really don't like the shoes you posted (sorry Hmm), that pattern is the same on these weird shell ornaments my mum had when we were younger and they weren't very nice Confused

BackforGood · 03/02/2014 17:01

I like the dress. Not so sure about the jacket - I quite like it but think I would go more 'formal' style for a wedding, myself.

GreenRedBlueYellowPurple · 03/02/2014 17:06

It's true that when I go to weddings, I have to look my absolute best (because I'm single again now-haha!) but some people just want to not spend much money, not buy anything new and wear something vaguely wedding-y and that's fine too!

janmoomoo · 03/02/2014 17:11

Love the dress and shoes, it will look fab and perfect for a wedding. Not keen on the jacket, but you should plan on something, it could be really cold in April.
