Why do people buy dresses that they have no clue how to wear

Bloody "accessorise this dress for me"
In the shop are you blindfolded ? Is it lucky dip?

Don't see what the problem is myself. No worse than asking a friend whilst out shopping. Other people may have suggestions that one might never have thought of. No worse than asking if their hubbie is cheating on the relationship pages (when it is bleedingly obvious to everyone that he is!)

What i hate is people posting such shite as 'need dress for wedding. Size 28, don't like my arms, stomach, legs or face.'
Lose weight then?!
I asked someone that once and apparently six months wasn't enough time to lose a single pound...
Thats just laziness.
Wear a fucking tent then.

Have you never asked a friend for advice on such things? Also other people come up with ideas the op might not of thought of. I would have thought thats the point of a forum where people are able to ask questions. Sheesh!!

Skinheadmermaid · 27/01/2014 13:59

I lost six stone in seven months.
It is possible.

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 27/01/2014 14:01

Tan shoes much better than nude and go with practically everything.

The topic is style and beauty. How to accessorise a dress fits nicely in that category.

Perhaps the fumes from the hair colour have gotton to you. A lie down might be in order.

DrNick · 27/01/2014 14:06

snigger at skinhead

NO ONE ever thinks that ;)

Well I'm rubbish at putting things together so I need all the help I can get.

I like shops with lots of mannequins dressed in various ensembles so I can see which top is meant to go with which skirt etc. I'd love to buy more separates but I end up with dresses because I'm rubbish at putting stuff together, including accessories :(

capsium · 27/01/2014 14:12

In answer to your question OP....

Just for fun.

buttercrumble · 27/01/2014 14:15

DrNick Confused

BackforGood · 27/01/2014 14:18

DrNick - if it winds you up, did you know you can hide topics?
I've hidden topics where they wind me up.
I leurve the fct that you can ask a question about anything in the world on MN, and some kind sole will help you out. If it's not for you, either hide the S&B threads, or if it's all "silly questions" that annoy you, then perhaps don't log in ?

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 27/01/2014 14:23

I see the point of the questions as people will often suggest something that you wouldn't have thought of.

Skinhead- you're like a reformed smoker then? I've done it so anyone can? I've lost almost 10stone and lost most of it in the first 6 months, through calorie control and exercise (so no loose skin other than my stomach), but I know its hard for others and not everyone has the right motivation. If the time is truly right it will happen. Every year I would half heartedly say I was going to lose weight, lose 2 stone and then put it back on faster than I lost I. But one year (2 and a bit years ago) something just clicked and I've never looked back.

ElizabethBathory · 27/01/2014 16:41

People should just buy dresses that are so awesome they don't need accessorizing. Job done.

Lj8893 · 27/01/2014 17:31

Ohhhhhh Grin gotta love a bit of passive-aggression!!!

Don't worry drnick it was only shoes I wanted to know about, I know how to accessorise the rest of the dress Smile

HermioneWeasley · 27/01/2014 20:04

OP, if it bothers you, don't read and respond.

LittleBabyPigsus · 28/01/2014 00:26

Skinhead not sure why plus size women asking for style advice offends you so much. Actually, not all of us want to lose weight in the first place. I can style myself and have no problem with my arms/stomach etc but 'wear a tent then' is the kind of thing that results in plus size shops being full of crap.
