I've got a big occasion next week and I've failed to lose the three stone I'd planned on losing

I need one of those garments that squeeze you tight, is there one sort that works the best?

Thanks :)

Make sure you are sitting down when you google salsa jeans OP. I just did £££ Shock

Mind you, if somebody convinces me they will work I will probably do my usual S&B sheep act and buy a pair!

Most importantly, congratualations. Smile

MichaelFinnigan · 11/01/2014 09:31

Thanks for the congratulations :)

I don't mind paying if they're good, afterAll our whole wedding has cost about £75

But there are so many. Push-in I think are the ones i want but slim or skinny? I like it when the ankle isn't skin tight if that makes sense?

I think shapewear works wonders with muffin top. I love the spanx high waisted shorts - although my tip is to upsize ... they still smooth things out but you arent left feeling like you can't eat or breathe.

AmberNectarine · 11/01/2014 09:32

Probably slim then. I'm now quite tempted by the push-in skinnies!

As the owner of a whole cupboard full of "shapewear" and lots of different brands I think getting the right size and shape is more important than brand. I think trying loads on in M&S will be fine and save £££.

JanetAndRoy · 11/01/2014 09:37

I have spanx that are like pants at the bottom (no legs) and still come up under bra for good control. Paid about £30 for them.

For slightly lighter support, Sainsburys do control pants for £8, and the ones for Apple shapes are great for muffin top.

I have the primark shorts type sucky in pants and they would work great under jeans to get rid of muffin top. Comfortbale and under £10. I wore some m&s ones to a wedding once (years ago so probably different to current ones) and had to take then off as got terrible tummy pains. I'm not sure I even lasted til after dinner!

Walnut8 · 11/01/2014 09:41

I find that the cheaper brands (of the shorts anyway) ride up and ride down.

If you get the tummy pains, definitely too tight I would think Confused

They're my favourite pair of jeans - really comfy and flattering. We had a dress down day at work and all my colleagues kept asking me where I got them. Which is a good thing (I think)

dontcallmemam · 11/01/2014 09:53

I 2nd Felix, the M&S slip works for me. It smooths everything down and there's no ooze. And wearing your own bra is a bonus too.

MichaelFinnigan · 11/01/2014 10:24

Ok salsa push in slim fit jeans ordered (thanks MissBeehiving)

And off to m&s to try on pants. It's the first time I've been actual shopping for about 6 years

Oh, come back and let us know how you get on with the jeans Smile

mistermakersgloopyglue · 11/01/2014 11:07

Congratulations on your impending wedding op!

I don't know if its just me and my fat arse, but I can't get on with the shape wear that is just pants shaped because it really digs into my bum and gives me that 4 bum (bit like the 4 boob) look! The only ones that really work for me are the ones that go right down the thighs. The slips look quite good as well, but I guess they wouldn't work wit jeans?
