What would you get from Cath Kidston if you had to?

I have got a gift card from an internet refund in store last summer.

I went and bought a bag the other day but don't really like it (in fact I got two, and don't like either)

So they are going back
but what to actually get? I get the feeling a lot of it is overpriced, under-quality stuff that's just basically fashionable tat, but what I like to buy is stuff that is nice quality, and not just 'image' based - something that is good and will last.

So what would you recommend from Cath's? I have got about £65 to spend.

A sewing box, mostly because I need one, and as mine sits on a open shelf it'd be good for it to look nice. It is however madly overpriced.

Other than that I need to replace my address book so that also. Failing that mugs, I quite like the shape and size of them in Cath Kidson.

A jumper , dd has a couple of lovely ones which have washed really nicely

Save the card and give it as a gift to someone that likes that shite stuff.

Would probably get a spotty tablecloth, tea towels or some cushions to throw on the bed.

I think you're wrong about quality, by the way- overpriced and "safely trendy" yes - but in my experience the quality is good.

Yes I'd buy a tablecloth. They're quite nice and quite expensive.

Was just looking at the site there. I'm not a huge Kidston fan really, but I would have no trouble spending £65.

The penguin ones are very jaunty - and there are some rather nice retro flower prints or polka dots. Brushed cotton. They do last. I've been buying them for other people for a few years - this year my DM reciprocated and gave me some for Christmas.

But I've found it very easy to ignore everything else....

I'd be stuck. I don't like the majority of her stuff but last year I bought a navy velvet bag from there and it is very nice. I got it because I was with my sons girlfriend and we went in the shop as she gets a student discount!

All the floral stuff is very twee and I'd get easily bored.

I've just looked at the website and can only see the Stanley salt and pepper shakers that would amuse me for a short while

If you don't see anything you like, I would buy things in the sale that you know other people would like and keep them as standby gifts.

For a money box it's not that big and over priced

Oh pyjamas sounds Okay. Tablecloths - I will have a look, though I don't use a table really and I know the baby would be great at that trick where you pull the corner and everything falls off

I think the quality is generally Ok but things like, the bags not being lined (some of the more plasticy ones, like the horsey tote) and some clothes not being lined, that sort of thing annoys me. They have a lot of reviews saying 'this skirt should be lined at this price, you shouldn't get away with it!' and so on.

Mugs are great I agree.
I will wander into town and see what is left. The bags I got are lovely quality and a good size, but I find myself a bit embarrassed at the flowery prints, because it's what we were into when we were doing our GCSEs about 25 years ago and I can't bring myself to revisit post Victorian stuff

Quality is good. But I wouldn't buy a bag, they're everywhere.

I have to say that when we were out shopping (I'd taken my son and his girlfriend out for the day to Cardiff), that the Cath kidston shop was heaving and there was a queue for the till, so she is obviously very popular.

This is it, the stuff is nice but for the price it is a bit, well, it's just overpriced basically.

The only thing I REALLY like is the digital wallpaper. That's like £150 a roll I think or something though.

I like the big spotty bags but they had run out in the nicer colours.

How about luggage? The shop sells some pretty weekend / overnight bags for around that price mark.

the bird print is lovely. I'd get a purse in that print. Or maybe the weekend bag

A duvet set should use up your £65

Sewing box. I am not a CK fan but I love my sewing box.

I think I am all bagged out really but the holdalls are really nice.

I also like the Space duvet set but it looks to be sold out. I wonder if the shop has got any left.

It's a bit ££ but if you've got to spend the money on something, it makes sense to get something nice.

The sewing boxes are beautiful. I just inherited about 20 tons of old sewing equipment, button tins and material from my Granny though so not sure I can take any more!
