it stays most of the year in my cupboard

OP posts:
Buzzardisnotina4birdroast · 27/12/2013 17:25

I agree Alaska. Having read all these threads though I wonder if I should try again?

ggirl · 27/12/2013 17:31

doesn't give my hair any volume but it does de frizz the ends

UsedToBeNDP · 27/12/2013 17:31

My drawer is full of miracle hair gadgets. All basically shit

EirikurNoromaour · 27/12/2013 17:34

It's lovely on my hair but a lot of effort. It looks great for a special occasion.

FutureDreamer · 27/12/2013 17:43

It suits my hair: it makes my hair look like I've had a decent blue dry in half the time and with a quarter of the effort. I always get compliments when it's been "done".

I'd be happier if it transformed my fine hair into bouncy Cheryl Cole style locks but you can't have miracles.

AmberNectarine · 27/12/2013 17:48

I actually really rate mine, but my hair is reasonably short and fine so it's a quick job. If I had loads of hair I'd probably get bored. On a scale of things MN goes nuts about it is nowhere near as shit as Bare Minerals.

trixymalixy · 27/12/2013 17:52

I asked my Mum if I could borrow hers for a weekend to try it out. There was a look of sheer panic in her eyes at the thought of not having one for a weekend. She says she can't do her hair without it.

PartTimePunk · 27/12/2013 17:54

Agreed OP. I sold mine as it took ages to work on my thick wavy hair, and the results didn't seem to last more than and hour or two before it was back to frizz.

lade · 27/12/2013 18:04

I absolutely love mine!

But I have frizzy hair, that used to be half destroyed by the GHDs. I now find, if I dry it with the big hair, I only need a 30 second blast to finish it off with the straighteners. I use my Big hair every time I wash My hair and it is now in much better condition Grin.

treaclesoda · 27/12/2013 18:34

it's the only miracle beauty gadget that I've ever bought that I actually do use on a regular basis. Everything else has disappointed, but this is great.

The trick is definitely to use it on almost dry hair though, I'd be there for hours if I tried to actually dry my hair with it.

Floppityflop · 27/12/2013 18:38

I've only had mine a couple of days and not quite got the hang of it yet. I think if I did actually section off my hair it would work better but it did take me a day to figure out that it rotated... If anyone has any tips on how to get the best out of it I'd like to hear them.

ziggiestardust · 27/12/2013 18:40

I have long hair and it needs to be done on mid length or short hair to get the best effect really.

Definitely section off, and use when hair is 90% dry. It's not something couldn't live without.

marleymooo · 27/12/2013 18:52

I should use it regularly but I don't. I usually rough dry my hair and ghd it once its dry, but the difference when I use bbh is amazing. No flyaways and looks like a professional blowdry. I still need to ghd when I'm done though but the volume and smoothness is brilliant.

StickyProblem · 27/12/2013 18:57

I love mine, I look horrendous without it. I just clip up the top, then dry the bottom turning up, then do the top turning down. Takes about 20 mins which for me is quite a lot, so I've also got into dry shampoo Blush

My hair is past shoulder length, very thick and fine, and without the bbh it's flat, and in raggedy waves, like Bridget Jones. In fact it was Bridget who made me realise I need to start actually doing something with my hair instead of rough drying!

hootloop · 27/12/2013 19:01

I have really thick wavy hair, none of the miracle hait devices or products have ever helped so I chucked them all out and had a proper shortcrop now I can get out of the shower rub it with a towel and look fab.

MissBeehiving · 27/12/2013 19:13

I didn't use mine when my hair was longer but now it's bob length I use it everyday.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/12/2013 20:02

I took mine back.

DipMeInChocolate · 27/12/2013 20:08

I bloody love mine it makes my below shoulder length, super thick and course hair bouncy and styled. I use a £7 tesco hairdryer first. One of the few miracle gadgets I believe in.

LamaDrama · 27/12/2013 20:16

I rough blow dry mine first until its 95% dry.

Then section off, using 2 crocodile clips & start styling with the BBH, takes about 5 mins.

jasmine1979 · 27/12/2013 20:19

I really don't like it. I have waist length fine hair, and I think that unless you have very thick strong hair, it's probably not a good idea.
I find the temperature on it is far too hot to be healthy for your hair and is also quite violent in the way it styles the hair? Yes, it can give a nice sleek result, but I honestly think it's not worth it in the long run as it will trash your hair. I also wasn't impressed at how the bristles ended up splaying on mine even though I was careful to replace the shield carefully after each use.
Everytime I see one of the threads on here about it, I'm tempted to pull it out and use again. Sometimes I do, and each time I remember why I flung it to the back of my draw in disgust. I then feel guilty all day for subjecting my hair to it. Grin
I suspect it's fantastic if you have shoulder length hair or above though.

SundaySimmons · 28/12/2013 09:53

I bought mine, used it once, hated it and put it away for a year or so. Then on a whim I got it out again and loved it as I then had a medium length bob.

Then I started growing out the bob and away went the big hair styler again.

Now I've grown my hair and style it in a shorter Farrah Fawcett do which whilst not a fashionable hair style, really suits my face. I've been using brushes and hairdryer but might have a go with the big hair and see what it does with my longer hair.

Mintymoomoo · 28/12/2013 10:19

I'm still really unsure about mine, I have fine bob just touching the collar bone, I was expecting a amazing smooth bouncy finish and not have to use the ghd like everyone on here claims but so far I just end up with a surly that looks like a have a helmet on!!!! Yes it has volume but ends a frizzy

Any advice what I'm doing wrong

I wouldn't be without mine.

toastandmarmiterocks · 28/12/2013 10:41

I do like mine but I swear it is not as good as it used to be. I have shoulder length fine frizzy hair and it makes me look vaguely normal as opposed to the shaggy haired 80s pop star I have a tendency to look like...
