it stays most of the year in my cupboard

This is the one 'beauty' gadget I couldn't do without. Literally, not figuratively. It's the only thing that smooths and controls my thick, frizzy, wavy/kinky mane. I'm now on my third one - love love love BBH.

dontcallmemam · 28/12/2013 10:48

I love mine. I have a short chin length bob with lank, straight hair & it definitely gives me oomph.
If you're good a blow drying I think it'd be a waste of money though.

IamInvisible · 28/12/2013 11:27

I think they are shit. I've used it on wet hair, damp hair, 95% dry hair and it does nothing. It lives in the bottom of the wardrobe with the curling wand that was raved about on here, which was also shit!

toastandmarmiterocks · 28/12/2013 11:40

Ha, I do have a never used curling wand at the back of my cupboard too IamInvisible...!

madmomma · 28/12/2013 11:45

It gives me helmet hair. Big, but weird looking. I'm sure if I was less ham-fisted I could make it work miracles though.

sotiredfornow · 28/12/2013 11:50

Bought mine yesterday and am a total convert. LOVE it. FWIW I think the texture and condition of your hair has to be somewhat favourable to start with - it's not a miracle worker. I have naturally curly/frizzy/wild hair but I've used the Brazilian Keratin Kit raved about on here which has given me a great starting point. The BBH would not be all that successful for me the way my hair was prior to the Brazilian.

Perhaps this is the reason for the divide in opinion?

HepsibarCrinkletoes · 28/12/2013 11:53

Love mine. Perhaps you're just crap at using it.

alemci · 28/12/2013 12:06

My hair is probably is a bit helmety too but I use the BBH quite alot and it is quick. I have the smaller barreled one and my hair is a longish bob with layers

I think it may be quite harsh on my hair but is it any worse than using a hairdryer and a brush which takes ages and my hair still goes a bit bowley ITMS.

Mintymoomoo · 28/12/2013 13:11

Hmmm maybe I take it back, just tried mine again, figured out its useless on the front of my extra fine baby hair so just blasted that with dryer and ran the ghd once through just the very front, but the rest of my hair looks fab, shiny, thick and curled under into the bob it is, maybe I just needed to get used to it and try diff things to see what works, in fairness only used it about 4 times since I brought 3 weeks ago

StephenKatzCrackerHat · 28/12/2013 13:58

Anyone who really hates theirs, I'd be willing to buy it! I'd really like to try it out but can't afford to risk £40 if it doesn't do anything for my stupid fine hair Sad

KeepYourEyesPeeled · 28/12/2013 14:08

I tried mine again yesterday and still not overly impressed . My hair is naturally wavy , bra strap length and takes styling well . Just looks more bouffant but not in a good way . I shall be sticking to my curling wand .
To be honest I think my hair is too long for it . I know friends though with shoulder length hair with layers and it looks amazing with the BBH

boocha · 28/12/2013 15:22

It's shite

SwedishEdith · 28/12/2013 19:00

I tried it again after all these "OMFG" threads. Yes, I know how to use it. Yes, my hair was 90% dry before I started. Yes, my hair is in good condition. Still looked no better, and took longer to look no better, than using a hairdryer and brush. Amazon sent me two when I ordered it a couple of years ago, sold one on Ebay, so mine was free really.
