Any HoC Natural Romantics?

Just checking if there's anyone else? Getting to grips with my colours, (autumn) and finding styling that suits a bit harder.

Would like to know if anyone has any recommended shops or ideas. Off to study up in my book as all I can remember is scoop neck & palazzo pants!

I've not had a style day but am an autumn and think I am likely to be a natural romantic judging by what I have read about it. I put 'natural romantic' into the search bit of pinterest and it came up with lovely things which have given me lots of ideas. Hoping that someone comes up with some shop ideas.

Hopefully · 11/12/2013 17:48

My DH is one, but he's not much cop in scoop necks Grin

Plumpysoft · 11/12/2013 19:52

Is that the same as romantic natural? I am dramatic/romantic but it is called romantic natural weirdly

evelynj · 11/12/2013 20:11

I'm not entirely sure it it's the same the other way round-think the first May be the more dominant style gene so to speak. I'm not even entirely sure of my sub type-think its deep autumn as my 2 stars are dark brown, dark olive, coffee & bronze but I'm still waiting for my consultant to come back to me.

I thought I'd be some sort of dramatic as love big jewellry & statement looks, (my sahm & lazy lifestyle doesn't lend to it tho ;)

Hopefully-I'd love to know what my dh was but don't think I could convince him to go. What is good for a natural romantic man? Is you dh a 'believer'? On a scale of 1-10 how obsessed with HoC diagnosis is he?!

I think phase eight is a fairly good shop. Celebs who fit that style are good to know too. Nigella, (God bless her), is one & I think Kate Winslet. Any more?

I'm a natural romantic autumn leaf but struggling to get out of my slobby ways of baggy trousers and comfy shoes. I have managed better with tops and scarves though.

I've invested in a good pair of gold and (tiny) diamond earrings & a bangle but forget to wear them half the time. Same with lipstick.

So I'm a work in progress but I figured it would take a long time to put the whole look together.

I didn't know Nigella was one. Can't say I was particularly inspired by Kate Winslet as an example as I am not an English rose. Do you know of any other celebs as I do find it quite hard to visualise the look.

At uni I did favour a satin vest top, velvet fitted jacket, jeans or calf length skirt and high heeled pointy boots as my going out look and I think that maybe is the natural romantic look. I just can't seem to get back there. Or imagine taking the toddler to the park dressed like that.

opalmum · 12/12/2013 12:39

I'm a HofC diagnosed Natural Romantic. Nat Rom is sort of buxom wenchish. Rom Nat is a bit more theatrical, a bit more highway woman or piratey. That doesn't help much does it?! I tend to look for soft deep v necks, draping and curved shapes. Phase 8 is good, Great Plains also not bad.

Plumpysoft · 12/12/2013 21:44

Yes I love pirate!

evelynj · 12/12/2013 23:02

Aha, that's a good explanation-although I'm natural rom I can see myself as a pirate type. Since my diagnosis I have hardly been out if my hoop earrings that I haven't really worn since school!

Judy finnegan, Alicia Keys, Caroline Quentin, (there must be better...)

Thanks for the Great Plains tip-never shopped there before & a lot in the sale ATM-not much for me right now but good to keep an eye. I need some plain low scoop neck tops if anyone sees any...

My consultant suggested key words for my look (am also Natural Romantic). When I implement things in line with what she said, it works well. Start small and bring some of the 'ideals' into your everyday wardrobe in little ways, especially in your identified colours. I was given a cardigan in the right colour but wrong style for me (round neck, button up) and just cannot wear it as it doesn't look right now that I know. Keep an eye open in charity shops too, it's a cheaper way of finding ways with changing style. Worth the effort, I've found. Smile

evelynj · 13/12/2013 14:59

Ooh chalat, what are your key words? That sounds good!

OP posts:
Seri77 · 16/12/2013 11:09

Keywords do sound useful. I've just reread the booklet & sheets I got from my consultant. I do have individual items that seem correct, I just can't seem to combine everything properly.

Perhaps I need to save up for a styling/shopping session with a consultant to get me on track with a capsule wardrobe.

I'd really like some glamorous but very comfy boots, ankle or calf length, not too high a heel but pointy of toe. I also need some work and casual trousers. And to learn to use belts.

Anyone seen any natural romantic Pinterest boards?

evelynj · 19/12/2013 21:25

I need to learn to use belts too. Afraid they look too weird on plus size ladies like myself though.

Keywords I think are correct-flowing, rounded, draped, textured

Seri-pointy of toe seems to be against what I was told but maybe there are different types of natural romantic.

Maybe Clark's or dune for boots? I too find that finding a mix of colour & style is like the holy grail & I'm more likely to wait to come across something than go specifically shopping for an item.

Worried how I'll cope with the sales! I'm on the lookout for scoop neck tops-seems to be a shortage....

evelynj · 19/12/2013 21:30

Seri-tell us what's wrong with these-too high, not pointy or glam enough etc & we'll work from there. ;) Also what colour?

Love the colour of those boots but the heel is way too high for me. Slouchy boots are not something I've considered as you're meant to tuck the trousers in aren't you? Trouser shopping is a nightmare for me as there are 14 inches difference between waist and hips (widest part at top of thighs).

I think you're right about the not so pointy toe, I just like them because they make my wide feet look longer.

I've been tempted by these for ages but even in the sale they're so expensive.

I suspect losing some weight may help with my confidence in dressing natural romantic style. I feel it's a bit 'look at me' when I want to hide because I've gone dumpy.

Seri77 · 30/12/2013 19:00

I bought the boots as they were further reduced int he sale. I've also bought some half price camisoles from kettlewell in some autumn colours. Progress is being made!

evelynj · 01/01/2014 19:01

Oh half price kettlewell-off to look. Yes those boots are v nice-good health to wear. I'm on a weight loss mission come Monday-never been this big but will still be hoovering up all the junk food in the house until then!

I've not come across much in the sales but tempted by these boots that I had recommended on the autumn thread

Hello! Did my style day yesterday and natural romantic to go with my soft autumn. I do seem to have a few bits (mostly from when I was younger!) but need to work on accessories and a work wardrobe.

How are you all getting on?

bettybigballs · 09/03/2014 11:08

Do you min if I join in? I had a style day a few weeks go and got diagnosed as a romantic natural.

I've found it fairly difficult to understand but the celebs have helped me to understand the concept - i
Was really thrown by the pirate style mentioned on the sheet!

I've started by wearing more accessories and I've bought two statement necklaces to add some interest to tops.

JenniMoo · 09/03/2014 11:11

Hello Betty :) Have you had your colours done? What season are you?

bettybigballs · 09/03/2014 11:39

Hi jenni, had my cours done six months ago an I'm a deep winter. I'm quite jealous of your autumn colours, I love mustards and teals!

Seri77 · 09/03/2014 20:57

Hello Betty and Jenni. I'm progressing slowly, working on upping the accessories to reach my target number from the style day at the moment. I have a nice stacked bangle set that I wear most days though still haven't found any necklaces that I think are right.

I'm also losing weight and hoping to reach normal BMI by autumn when I can start to build my wardrobe, especially my work wardrobe. I've bought a couple of cardis and tops to see me through the summer but dont see how I can pull off the natural romantic look til I feel comfortable in jeans and skirts and generally better about myself.
