Caroline Hirons. Am I the only person that really does NOT rate her advice?

No sunscreen every day? And never over SPF 20 ever???

No red meat or dairy?

You only get what you pay for with skincare and you need to be spending £40.00 - £60.00 if you want a decent cleanser???? Shock

Really???

I'm sorry, but that's just rubbish. Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and Avene Extremely Gentle cleanser are two of the best at only £12.00 each. And as for no sunscreen...

This woman is not a dermatologist. She's a 'beautician' who's worked in the industry for a long time (and clearly has a lot of contacts.) She has no medical qualifications as far as I know and some of her advice would have a decent derm tearing their hair out.

I like some of her advice but take none of it as gospel - nowadays much prefer sali Hughes and a model reccommends.

ABC1979 your post reads as quite unbalanced and unreasonable, as well as being a personal attack. Not to mention that it's quite curious that you resurrected an old thread to offload about Caroline.

Clarabumps · 14/12/2014 13:35

Jeez people can get their knickers in a twist over nothing. If you don't like her blog then don't read it and don't buy the products she recommends. There is no need to come start a thread to slag her off.

There are loads of beauty blogs out there and skincare is so varied that what suits one skin, might not suit another skin.

No need for the personal attacks.
I love her blog. Her advice has changed my outlook on skincare.

I hated Liz Earle cleanse and polish. It made my skin break out and I looked like a burns victim. The OP loved it. So who is right? No one, We're just different. If I was talking about LE, I wouldn't recommend it to a friend as it didn't work FOR ME. Caroline is simply recommending products she rates. I don't see what the big deal is?

I quite like her frank writing style, but I don't agree with some of what she says:

She often recommends expensive skin care, which is out of the price of most women.

She talks about double cleansing, two toners etc - not that I'm an expert, but I'm in favour of a very simple routine.

EssexMummy123 · 14/12/2014 14:05

She also recommends inexpensive products as well, for instance i currently use the Cetaphil cleanser she recommended which i'm pretty sure is around £5 and there was a moisturiser containing echinacea which again cost no more than £5 that i also tried - before going back to Nivea.

I found her regime cheat sheets handy when I first overhauled my skin care. But I don't much like her. She has a bad attitude. She used to be quite rude about cheaper products but now she's being paid by companies that make them she's changed her tune...

To be honest I've gone right off these bloggers in general recently. I don't know what's option, what they've been paid for, and they only ever do content for nothing when it's promoting their own products.
