Skin tightening recommendations for sagging face

Help! I'm in my 40s and whilst I don't really have any lines my face seems to be shifting downwards so that it is starting to resemble a rather forlorn and forgotten candle. Apart from surgery can anyone recommend any serum, treatments or anything?

No advice I'm afraid, just hoping someone might have some, as I share your pain. In my late 50's, I have just developed jowls, which my sister helpfully pointed out are genetic, as my mother and grandmother had the same weird jawshape as me and both ended up very jowly.

Thanks, nothing I can do about it then! (Except maybe stand on my head a lot to defy gravity)

sugar4eva · 12/11/2013 17:20

Facial exercises? Invoice king to try them ; but keep forgetting ! But if exercise tones the body then maybe it works I the face? I wd love one of the facial exercise machines but they are £ 300 price range and its a lot if they don't work! I wonder if anyone has one and could comment on if they are good or otherwise?!

sugar4eva · 12/11/2013 17:22

Sorry did not mean invoice king ! Meant meaning to try ! But my phone had its own agenda it seems!

DrankSangriaInThePark · 12/11/2013 17:23

Roc Roller Ball Complete Lift.

It doesn't work miracles but it does seem to tighten the jowly bits and the lines between nose and mouth seem lifted.

It was a MN Klaxon product before the summer. To be found as cheap as chips in places like Home Bargains, or for £25 give or take, in proper shops.

CakeL · 12/11/2013 17:28

I sympathise, I started a similar thread recently, some great ideas.. I've started the exercises. I am currently obsessed looking at peoples lower faces in public, on tv, anywhere comparing them to mine and wondering why me!! :( ...

CakeL · 12/11/2013 17:41

The roc roller looks like it's worth a try thanks DrankSangriaInThePark and thanks for starting this thread op!

noddyholder · 12/11/2013 17:43

I seem to remember Kate Moss advertising some elctric thing for this. Jowls are my biggest fear and I am getting on now and am obsessed!

SirRaymondClench · 12/11/2013 19:19

What about those Caci treatments? Do they work?

Fadqueen · 14/11/2013 17:44

I've had some Caci treatment and although my skin has a much fresher look about it, the treatment has done naff all to help my jowls.

I'm nearly 45 and I hate the way my face seems to be heading south. I wouldn't entertain botox but I am looking into the advice given above and on the previous linked thread.

I have become a little obsessed, or just bloody vain!

MillyRules · 14/11/2013 18:52

Face exercises. As someone up thread said, if you exercise and tone the body muscles you can do the same with the face. After all, when you have a face lift they pull the muscles tight and cut the loose stuff off.
I have started doing them this year and they are making a difference but you have to do it every day. Also look up face yoga for similar thing.

futterbingers · 14/11/2013 20:53

I bought Olay Anti-Wrinkle Firm and Lift 2 in 1 Day Cream and Serum Age 40 for half price in Tesco a couple of weeks ago and for the first time ever, I think I can see a difference in my skin. I've bought expensive creams, recommended creams, also serums, lotions and potions and never before have I looked in the mirror and thought, yes that makes a difference. I'm 53 and my skin is still in good nick, and I'd like it to stay that way; for the first time ever I'm thinking I will buy the same cream again.

Hi Guys,

I was about to ask about the sagging face thing too. I gained a lot of weight during pregnancy and I have developed the genetically saggy lower face (I have a large lower face anyway) that my grandmother and dad had/have too.

I'm trying facial exercises but it doesn't seem to be doing much. I'm seriously considering investing in one of these skin tightening treatment, however, they are very expensive and I don't know if it's a case of the emperor's new clothes with some of these treatments..... I don't want to be the emperor especially when I feel guilty about spending that amount of money on myself - however, saggy jowls, on me, are horrific... IMO....

Thanks for all the replies, ideas and link to a similar thread. I have just started doing an eyelid lift exercise. I now need to find something for the bottom half of my face.

I'm going to look for the Roc Roller Ball Complete Lift when I'm back in the UK at Christmas. Thanks for all recommendations. The only way is up!

Dermal fillers? If they're done by a good practitioner they can take years of you.

hurried · 15/11/2013 10:21

Ahh you see the people I have seen who have had fillers look... a little puffy... maybe it's finding the right one, like you say Agatha...

AgathaF · 15/11/2013 10:27

I have them done and definitely don't look puffy. I think the ones you have seen are not done well.

castlesintheair · 15/11/2013 10:29

AgathaF, how do you go about finding a good practitioner?

OP posts:
AgathaF · 15/11/2013 10:36

Castles have PMd you.

Mabelene · 15/11/2013 10:41

I have a tua trend face machine which I think is good, doesn't take long to do www.tuatrendface.com. I think it's quite expensive but mine was a Christmas present a few years ago

hurried · 15/11/2013 11:37

Agatha- ditto to Castle's question...

AgathaF · 15/11/2013 11:41

Have PMd you too.

Twinklestein · 15/11/2013 12:04

The only people who think fillers don't make your face look puffy are the one's who've had them.

If you look at celebs who can afford the very best treatment they still look puffy. In some recent pics of Madonna she looked very puffed up.

Personally I would not inject anything into my face whether botox or fillers because people who go down that road end up looking ghastly, and the long term safety is as yet unknown.

My age guru is Helen Mirren as she has lines, she's not gone for scary surgery, and she looks amazing.

AgathaF · 15/11/2013 12:10

Good for you Twinklestein. Whatever rocks your world.

By the way, I think the celebs you refer to have had implants not fillers.

Twinklestein · 15/11/2013 12:38

Some celebs have had one or the other and some have had both...
