a la Sarah Jane
if your hair is in a sort of chin length one length bob
asked HarpsichordCarrier innocently and casually, and for no particular reason

og GOD yes i wante to eb her when i grow up

poisson · 05/07/2006 19:43

high pony is fine dg

AllieBongo · 05/07/2006 19:44

just the fact that bloody sarah jane had pigtails is enough to discredit them.. i cna't do any hair accessory. If I wore a scarf/headband dh would think i'd injured my head

AllieBongo · 05/07/2006 19:44

high ponytail = mini face lift if tight enough

DumbledoresGirl · 05/07/2006 19:45

Oh high pony tails were confined to the other 30s the last time Mners expressed an opinion...

DumbledoresGirl · 05/07/2006 19:46

under 30s I meant

poisson · 05/07/2006 19:46

REALLY?
i pver rule that earlier verdict

oxocube · 05/07/2006 19:50

Well I am 40 and often wear one of those headscarvey thingies esp to pool or when picking up kids from school. Am I sad, Cod? Mind you, I don't really give a shit and although I don't have the hair for them, I think pigtails/ plaits can be cute. some of my friends do this look and they look great imo

MrsJohnCusack · 05/07/2006 19:51

is there some sort of invisible line on your head where a pony tail becomes a high one?

DumbledoresGirl · 05/07/2006 19:52

I think it is roughly anything higher than the top of your ears.

WelshBoris · 05/07/2006 19:53

snort @ norah

bubblez · 05/07/2006 19:53

I don't think that it is about age but is more a matter of whether it suits your face shape, hair type and dress sense.

If it suits you go for it!!

MrsJohnCusack · 05/07/2006 19:55

oh I'm only winding HC up for fun
I'm sure you all look great in your pigtails, but then presumably they were a conscious choice and not jsut because you couldn't be arsed to wash your hair

Alan · 05/07/2006 19:57

i reckon....say.....110? or until you lose the use of your arms

nulnulcat · 05/07/2006 19:58

am nearly 36 have hair past my waist regularly have it in high ponytail, 1 plait, 2 plaits, pigtails whatever i feel like on the day really currently piled up on head all messy with a barbie pencil holding it in place as couldnt find a clip or a scrunchie

Greensleeves · 05/07/2006 19:58

I do it pigtails, not plaits, but my hair is a bit longer then HC's

I almost certainly do look a prat... but it's a way of keeping it out of my face/off my neck whilst still having hair... the alternative is scraping it all into a punitive little bun, which is my other look

megglevache · 05/07/2006 19:59

nulnulcat · 05/07/2006 19:59

mrsj the main reason i put my hair up is coz i cant be arsed washing it!!

MrsJohnCusack · 05/07/2006 20:00

me too - have it in a ponytail/loose bun when i can't be bothered to wash it

I look like a quarter wit with bunches though

MrCliveOwen · 05/07/2006 20:14

I don't do pony tails or bunches - they aren't manly enough for me !

Medulla · 05/07/2006 20:19

about 50

harpsichordcarrier · 05/07/2006 20:20

well I think I look cute and perky...
I put my hair up with a pencil too sometimes esp when singing
usually a scoobydoo one

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 05/07/2006 20:44

HC you are cute and perky

you don't need a schoolgirl hairstyle to prove it

MrsBadger · 05/07/2006 21:08

hair up with pencil is allowable when singing

tis arty

get a black one though - Scooby Doo is not art
actually my old choir had dedicated Choir Pencils so we all matched

(would not advise pigtails unless actively trying for either infantile, hippy or (if messy and windblown), surfy)

HandlebarMoustache · 05/07/2006 21:09

I was waering pigtails when I met you Franny you should have said "Take them out, you look a nob"
