Marsha if you want to do a bit of HIIT the easiest way for you would be (say once a week or every third run) to find a nearby hill...and remember I know you have one(!) run up it as fast as you can for 45-60 secs. Then walk back down to your starting point. Repeat 6-10 times. Killer but doesn't take as long as you usual run (but you could rest for 5 mins and jog for half an hour afterwards if you wanted) but will massively improve your fitness /speed and blast fat - not that you have too much of that to worry about Smile. You can download an app with a timer like a voice over, that works in conjunction with music on your iPhone to do this, look for Tabata timer and you can adjust the settings, say 1 min work/1.5 or 2 mins rest....

also to add a bit of resistance work, do a few sets of push ups (on your knees if you aren't as hard core as Dry Wink, tricep dips using a dining chair, squats, lunges and planks after your run or on in between running days Smile.

MarshaBrady · 19/10/2013 17:07

Thanks Sleep that's really fab. I'm nearly there, sprint a bit at ends of stages but not hills. And ha! Yes I have a good one here. So will try hills.

And have listened now do that free outside gym thing which is great. Also I dress in gym gear for the morning school run. This is the biggie, it's hard to ignore it if you're already in the outfit. It's not for fashion, so I must do it.

shopafrolic · 19/10/2013 17:31

What should I wear to show people round my house on a Sunday - breton, jeans and boots? Inoffensive?

OP posts:
Drywhiteplease · 19/10/2013 17:43

A good tip Foxy... But why is mouth breathing so bad? Am I going to fill myself with too much oxygen and become a top athlete ? not working yet

Sleepwhenidie · 19/10/2013 17:56

No probs Marsha. Gym kit first thing also a great strategy, feels like serious wimping out if you them take it off having done no exercise Smile

I think my eye is ok - tender but not obviously bruised. Thank goodness for the v attractive headguard Grin. No idea what to wear this evening, think it will be pretty relaxed affair...I'm not looking it forward to it so much so not especially enthused about clothes.. Anybody want to put something together from my wardrobe please ?

MarshaBrady · 19/10/2013 18:08

Yep completely agree on that! Grin

Love those J Crew shiny shoes. Got to be those with something.

Shop yes sounds good. Nice of you on a Sunday!

shopafrolic · 19/10/2013 18:13

The Zadig fur - and a simple top and jeans with the J Crew shoes?
Marsha I don't think we can afford to turn people away really - selling is funny in the villages so I need to grab every opportunity. It's going to be weird doing a sales pitch on my own home!

BrandyAlexander · 19/10/2013 18:39

Poor you Sleep.Thanks

Shop, sounds good and inoffensive! We had one viewer that turned up for a second viewing before the estate agent and dd and I started showing her around. Felt very weird! Bizarrely they were the winning bidders, so have turned out to be our Purchasers - they are the only ones we actually met.

Marsha, I love running outside. Pre dcs, dh and I would always pack running gear and go for a run when we finally got out of bed.....oh those daysEnvy

LinusDKD · 19/10/2013 18:55

Cropped black trousers, sequin jacket, black loubs and a simple top sleep?

Drywhiteplease · 19/10/2013 18:57

No shooting yet....only goes 2/3 times, normally in December, normally on my birthday!!Hmm
Just posting a pic of my feet tonight. I love these shoes.....v glam, there is a shoe shop in a market town nearby which sells the most amazing shoes at really reasonable prices. Cripple me though.
And why is it pouring? My hair is perfect! Sad can't really tournament up in my Merrell Walefield rain coat .

Sleepwhenidie · 19/10/2013 19:45

Just noticed that I look like some kind of midget on pic Grin...but it's theory leggings with Steven black heels and wang top (wow does that get some wear)!

MrsRadicchio · 19/10/2013 21:05

Lovely shoes Dry and great outfit Sleep. Hope your eye is ok.

Enjoyed the book chat. I love reading and used to read loads - but I like reading before bed which isn't possible at the moment as DS2 is still in with us.

I really like thrillers for relaxation: I like the Rebus books (John Rankin), Peter Robinson, Indridasson (Sp?) also like Kate Atkinson, should read her new one.

I went through a stage of reading all of John Irving and Margaret Atwood's books. Another author I really enjoyed is Jeffrey Eugenides, especially Middlesex. Want to read his recent one too.

Dry I love Birdsong!! But not so much his other books. Also love Jane Eyre, I am a real romantic.

Wasn't sure if I should mention this but a very guilty pleasure is Marian Keyes!! I avoided reading her stuff for ages as it just looked hideously twee but it is surprisingly good.

I wanted to link these shoes for QueenC - thought they were a similar shape to the M&S ones you aren't wearing now. Or do M&S do those in black too?

If you are going pared down with the shoes, how about statement cuff or earrings (as mentioned on the winter thread I think!!)?

Santa I am beyond Envy about your new purchase Smile

MrsRadicchio · 19/10/2013 21:06

Oh, just remembered I want to read Jennifer Saunders' autiobiography too, and Morissey's.

libertychick · 19/10/2013 21:22

Foxy pm - have seen a potential poncho for you at a good price so have sent you a link in case it's low stock,

My poncho is a bit of a mystery - I bought it in Charli in Hampstead. They had lots of sale stock in the basement and it was there - reduced from £70 to £35. It had tags pinned on that said 'Micky Made in Italy' but when I google that brand it only come up as ebay listings. It's not on the Charli website or on any other sites with multiple brands like Asos or HOF etc.. Also the poncho itself only has one very small tag sewn in with fabric details - no branding Confused. It's 70% poly, 30% wool but feels really nice and IMO doesn't look too cheap....anyway I love it. My outfit today (black slim cut Levis, denim shirt, grey leather converse and the poncho) feels like it will be worn to death for a few months!

libertychick · 19/10/2013 21:28

Marian Keyes is a guilty pleasure of mine too MrsR Smile. I think she writes well - she treats her characters with compassion which I like and her own personal experiences as an alcoholic shape a lot of her stories. I remember reading 'Watermelon' and in the first page she has the character reflecting on how she used to suspect that people who had multiple bad luck had probably caused a lot of it themselves and then after a spectacular run of bad luck had just realised that sometimes shit really does just happen Smile and sometimes in bucketloads.

OneLittleLady · 19/10/2013 21:28

Is it really vain of me to want a small mole removing? It's on my neck, right where necklaces sit and can get really sore if my jewellery rubs against it. it has bled a few times in the past and I really want it removing but I'm a bit worried that the doctors will just think I'm being vain

libertychick · 19/10/2013 21:43

one I can give you the official NHS line on this Grin. Practically no area in the NHS offer any kind of cosmetic surgery anymore. However, moles or skin tags that catch on jewellery or bra straps etc are sometimes considered. Your best bet is if your own GP does minor surgery as it's a simple procedure and they might do it themselves. If they can't do it or if there isn't a local clinic doing minor surgery it's less likely you will get it done as any procedure that has to be carried out in a hospital setting is very expensive so there has to be a good medical reason for it. They won't think you are vain if you ask. These sorts of things bother lots of people and it's a common request - just don't get upset if they say no - it's not you just a system that cannot afford this sort of stuff. BTW, if it is a mole and it's bleeding, even if you are fairly certain that it's due to jewellery catching you should ask your GP to take a look anyway. HTH.
