Best high street skinny jeans

Hi all, I need a new pair of black skinny jeans, but I don't want to spend more than about £40 max. What's the best high street brand? I've tried Top Shop Baxters but they kind of fall off my hips and have faded a lot. Dorothy Perkins ones were great but have gone very saggy and faded and Next ones seem a bit too high waisted.

Any recommendations? I'm an apple shape if it makes a difference.

Primark isn't bad these days, you just have to know how to pick them. Had a few good jeans from there but they do fade quite quickly. :(

New Look skinnies are ace, but for some reason they arent doing them in my favourite grey at the moment, just a weird tacky white with grey "worn" bits. And most of them are ripped.

Gap always skinny are my faves and tesco high waisters.

New look denim is cheap for a reason, it is not hard wearing. I have two pairs which the material wore into holes inbetween the top of my thighs. I would rather pay a tenner more and get a pair that will last for longer

I have H&M black skinny jeans. They were £8 I think. Not baggy and have stayed in shape and washed well for about 6 months. Starting to fade slightly around the seams now, but not much.

Topshop Leigh's or Joni's, also have oasis cherry in grey that are in their second year and still not baggy and have retained colour perfectly.
(Good for longer leg - am 33/34 inside leg)

I agree about the New Look jeans wearing between the thighs.
I thought it was just my chunky legs but it has happened to both dd's jeans and they are slim of thigh.
False economy.Top Shop all the way now.

haven't had problems with the zips to be honest. maybe that's just till my luck runs out lol. you can try others like New Look or Mannix Knight.

zara have better quality stuff too but the prices are what i don't agree with. that being said, im hoping for a christmas present (jacket) from there :)

meltedmonterayjack · 25/11/2014 10:31

Another vote for Oasis Cherry. Mine are onto their second year and are still lovely dark indigo and don't go baggy anywhere while you are wearing them. I love them. I find them really flattering too - small hour glass with largish thighs

Boomtownsurprise · 25/11/2014 10:32

Primark. £7 or £10.

vanessamcameron · 26/11/2014 17:28

I agree with New Look, great value but they look good too!

Hello: killjoy here.

Before you buy these jeans from conscience-free producers like Primark, please can you think just a little bit about the children and mums who made these jeans, what their working conditions are like, and how much they are paid?

SarahWood21 · 29/11/2014 14:57

My Twin Sarah does have a fair point :) I agree! However, the economy isn't favourable. Every penny does count on spending decision in my case.
