Did it!

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 18/10/2013 13:12

Cremo, I thought you'd lost a pineapple of weight! I am feeling very blobby!

Cremolafoam · 18/10/2013 13:17

Still puffy and swollen tho BTM .not a damn thing I can do about that for another 6 weeks at least. Sedate walking and light stretching is the limit. Even that leaves me knackered.
Internally still knitting together- bleurgh.

bigTillyMint · 18/10/2013 13:19

Yes, that must be very frustrating. I would be the size of a house if I couldn't exercise and was sitting around bored eating all sorts of crap.

CointreauVersial · 18/10/2013 18:01

Hmmm, I'm still on the fence HRT-wise. Still hoping optimistically that the worst is now behind me, and I don't have to resort to any more hormones..... Crem, you poor thing, I hadn't considered the impact of your hormone levels literally falling off a cliff post-op. Keep stretching those abs, though.

TFI Friday! Although it was a slow day in the office; I switched on my PC to find a large red virus warning, which put it out of use for most of the day. So I mooched about doing this and that.

Meanwhile, DS and DD1 were home alone (INSET day 2). I came back to a sticky kitchen (smoothies and toasted sandwich-making), and towels and toenails all over the living room (DS decided to dig the foot-spa out of the loft and give himself a little pedicure, the big jessie).

bigTillyMint · 18/10/2013 19:25

CV, that's just the kind of thing DS would doSmile

Stropperella · 18/10/2013 20:00

I do not like the idea of HRT at all. My experiences of hormonal contraception were all extremely negative - and believe me I dedicated more than a few years to the experiment. Also, I always had dire flooding and icky clots during periods and was on tranexamic acid and various other things all the way through my 20s and 30s. Also often had vomiting and diarrhoea 24 hrs before and always had to use super-plus everything and STs as well. Was always a nightmare at work. To be honest, since I had ds at 40 this has all been a lot better and even now it's not (yet) anywhere near as bad as it was 20 years ago. I have also always been prone to extreme PMT rage and that's no different than before either. I just find that my hair growth cycle is pathetically short, my skin has nil elasticity and I can't bloody well remember anything. Confused Also, I get knackered much more easily and it takes me days to recover.

bigTillyMint · 18/10/2013 20:26

Are you me, Stropps?! I had fainting on periods in my 20's, but no vomiting or problems with my hair. I only did the pill for about 5 years. And it did improve briefly after the DC, but then got significantly worse in my early 40's.
Angry

Stropperella · 18/10/2013 20:38

The hair thing (together with baggy skin and rubbish memory) has arrived in my 40s, so I'm assuming that's to do with my hormones. I used to only have wavy hair. The insane frizz has all happened post-ds. It's clearly his fault. Grin

bigTillyMint · 18/10/2013 20:41

My hair was much more wavy pre-DC's!

lalsy · 18/10/2013 20:57

I get enormous cold sores, thus flagging up my state to all who know me, and have had phases of having monster, but short, periods with revolting clots. What a system, and why haven't they invented injectable chocolate?

I have sleeping over boys in my living room, so can't go and celebrate Friday in customary G and T on the sofa till I doze off dribbling fashion.

hattymattie · 19/10/2013 09:31

lalsy - it's so annoying when the teens take over the living room. I really need a house with another wing! Maybe you should doze off in dribbling fashion in front of them - that would crap their style Wink

bigTillyMint · 19/10/2013 09:34

Well crepey moment here - schlepped off to return the clothes airer Angry and only realised in the shop that I have forgotten my purseShock I had swapped bags, it was early morning and I have a cold..... Now have big credit note - will need ideas on what to spend it on in Lakeland! Lucky I keep an emergency tenner in my phone - to pay for carpark and much needed coffee!!!

lalsy · 19/10/2013 09:59

Oooh BTM, big Lakeland credit note, Saturdays don't get more exciting than that!

Hattie, that certainly would..... They have shuffled off now leaving skittles packets and coke cans strewn around - could be worse I suppose.

Blackduck · 19/10/2013 11:46

H all, lovely, lovely dinner ... Yum, could do it all again! Just a shame we couldn't make the maximum of the hotel, but had to get back for the hound and ds... Fancied a mooch round Cheltenham......

Work wise boss has indeed resigned, will go in March, but the admin head of school has also been headhunted for a new role elsewhere in the organisation so I am eyeing up her post....

HRT - my dr is very resistant to any medication unless your life is unbearable! I can't say mine is really, periods have disappeared (it seems) no rage, and hot flushes in control now i'ved stopped drinking.

hattymattie · 19/10/2013 12:28

er - should have said cramp their style - mind "crap" might do as well.

BC - not drinking controls hot flushes Sad

Blackduck · 19/10/2013 13:27

Hi Hatty - yes - a trawl round the net suggested cutting alcohol down/out helps and I certainly have found it to be true. Bummer, but there you go, I'd rather have a good nights sleep sans the sweats than a glass (or three) of red....

Cremolafoam · 19/10/2013 13:54

Haven't had a drink since I saw you lot Shock so can't be the reason I woke up in drenched sheets and a wet nightie last night. Had to change the sheets at 4am and in the end dh slept on the sofa as in his words " I keep dreaming I am a pizza burning on a flame grill"
Horror. Feeling lightly sautéed this morning.

hattymattie · 19/10/2013 14:11

Gosh Crem - haven't been that bad yet - I'm obviously not yet in the full thows ...

Stropperella · 19/10/2013 14:15

I've had fairly drenching night sweats for a number of years, but I think they're all anxiety-related as I generally wake up in a pool of sweat with my heart hammering after a hideous dream about seeing the dcs blown to pieces in a war zone or something similarly unpleasant. I find cutting back on the booze tends to reduce the incidence of this kind of thing as well. Sad but true.

Cremolafoam · 19/10/2013 14:17

Just had a second shower.
Hatty I am sure everybody is individual so no don't expect things to deteriorate necessarily.

bigTillyMint · 19/10/2013 15:44

Cremo, that's awful - I did have a few of those moments too, but it doesn't help that DH is like a bloody flame grill!

Stropperella · 19/10/2013 17:31

Aww no Crem. I hope things settle for you sooner rather than later. Has your dh baked anything tasty today??

Stropperella · 19/10/2013 17:32

Just thinking that a bit of tasty baking sometimes helps. Or even the smell of baking...

Cremolafoam · 19/10/2013 17:45

There is talk of a Victoria sponge filled with our own homegrown raspberries in the sandwich bit.

He is moving on the choux pastry soon. We have had Danish pastries this week as a follow on from Les croissants. Dd has scoffed the lot tbh as with the diabetes I don't really indulge.Smile
Trying to encourage him towards sourdough and focaccia so I can partake a bit.

bigTillyMint · 19/10/2013 17:59

Yummm! Sounds like GBBO chez Cremo! Just watched last episode on catchup - that Ruby is so annoying, but I bet she'll bloody win.
