Seen a couple of bits that I kinda like, but really can't decide if it's generally hippy frumpsville or not!

I have a rainmac from there which is nice but never bought anything else.

I occasionally have a look (attracted by the use of natural fibres!) but nothing in there seems to fit me. Cut is all wrong somehow. My friend likes it though and she looks nice in their stuff.

I do think it's definitely aimed at 40 somethings who'd like to think they're still in their late 20s and possibly dream of relocating to Cornwall Grin

Lurleene · 11/05/2015 16:41

All you posters saying that the sizes are wrong are WRONG! (Sticks fingers in ears lalalalalala can't hear you).

PetiteBateau · 11/05/2015 16:46

I think the quality of FF clothing is very poor indeed. I bought a dress in there a few months ago & washed it at the temperature recommended on the label & it was unwearable after that. it shrank & was far too short & tight & I had only worn it once. Load of shit!

PetiteBateau · 11/05/2015 16:47

Although I do have some lovely earrings from there

QOD · 11/05/2015 16:49

I agree lurleene!

Fecking bitches are wrong!

PrincessShcherbatskaya · 11/05/2015 20:14

Agree that a lot of their stuff is a bit 'safe' bordering on frumpy, to me white stuff and fat face are pretty much the same. But I have bought jeans from there which I love (the slim leg ones) and have the odd bit of knitwear and pyjamas which I like very much. The tunics/dresses and skirts are not for me. I think Joules is very similar.

FakaP · 11/05/2015 20:19

I love their jeans and shorts, the fit is just right for me. Some of the prints are not to my taste...

Also like their accessories.

Quality is better than most high St stores.

Floisme · 11/05/2015 20:25

Speaking strictly for myself, I don't think they're good for the middle aged at all - far too shapeless and floppy. I need clothes with a little more ahem... structure these days. Smile

EmmaWoodlouse · 11/05/2015 22:42

I really like the colours and the fact that it's cotton, but their prices are usually a bit over my budget. I've had a few things in the sales. Beware though, some of their t-shirts and sweatshirts leak colour for several washes.

trice · 12/05/2015 07:57

Lovely pyjamas, nice socks, good for kids t shirts and men's clothes are nice.

The women's clothes are all very droopy and unflattering on me.

Instituteofstudies · 12/05/2015 08:52

I'm in my mid-50s and don't like FF at all. Drab, weird shaped/fitting stuff. Whenever I've been in, it seems a bit deserted too. I think the men's/kids stuff looks far better in terms of style though.

Carlile · 06/04/2019 21:52

Fat face use to have nice dresses , now all seems to be made for only 100yrs old ladies. It’s a shame!

HaventGotAllDay · 06/04/2019 23:13

I think Fat Face and White Stuff have swapped "scene" over the last 5-10 years or so.
Both are sold in a factory shop near me (also sells Monsoon and Per Una) and FF while massively weird and wonderful sizing- I am a 14-16 top but needed a 10 or small in FF- weren't bad while WS was all beige cropped trousers and creased linen shapeless tunics.
Now seems reversed, WS quite colourful and FF seems to have bought a 10 yr supply of sludge green dye.
Mind you, I really liked what appeared to be a bright indigo purple top in WS and when it arrived it was a dull navy and hung like a tent. The model must have also been 8ft tall as on her it was mid thigh and on me below knee (and I'm 5ft 10)

Ladygloss · 07/04/2019 08:44

I have a couple of nice summer dresses and jumpers from there but most of it is shapeless faded coloured frumpiness.

Bluesheep8 · 07/04/2019 09:10

jollysleepygiant you've just described me! Must be why I quite like FF. But I agree, the sizing is bonkers. I'm a 10 and very often their 8 is far too big.

Bluesheep8 · 07/04/2019 09:15

Ooops didn't realise it was such an old thread

mrsoutnumbered · 07/04/2019 11:10

I bought a couple of shirts in there and was really disappointed in the quality. I've had things from Primark wash better.

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 07/04/2019 11:16

I think I prefer white-stuff (slightly more minimalist) but they're both so similar.

I'm loving the new H&M eco-conscious looks - minimalist, but made out of nice natural materials (although it does sadden me that as a fast-fashion business, they could never be a sustainable business)

TSSDNCOP · 07/04/2019 13:38

It's a shop I got over in the early 2000's and the stocks not changed since.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 07/04/2019 13:53

I used to like it, but find the colours very dreary now. Their Bretons are good quality, and I like that they do longer lengths in their dresses etc.

I like their kids stuff though.

Palominoo · 07/04/2019 13:57

Awful.. Looks like it should be a frumpy concession in Debenhams.

DameDoom · 07/04/2019 14:32

Frumpy mums at any age. No make-up ever, no style, loves camping in a shit tent with bad-breathed 'funster' husband, thinks Jamie Oliver is cool, describes themselves as a scenester apropos PTA bi-annual get-together, frugal to the point of Scrooge and doesn't need to shower or bathe more than every couple of days because they never smell.

And wears long pendant necklaces as a statement.

Palominoo · 07/04/2019 14:35

Dame Doom is spot on.
