..and wondering what I will be! I cannot work it out for myself at all so will be interesting to see how much of my black wardrobe I will have to chuck out (unless I am a winter)! I'm going with HoC.

Enjoy Grin
It's a great experience. Come back & let us know then you can join in one of the threads. Do you know how many others will be there on the day?

ILikeToClean · 16/08/2013 16:43

There will be 3 of us, I don't know the others. I think the worst thing is having to go and meet people with no make up on! I really hope I am a winter.

I'm jealous, I would love to have mine done! I'm a self-diagnosed Autumn. Some spring and winter colours look ok on me but I always feel they would look better on someone else. I can't do summer colours at all.

JennySense · 16/08/2013 17:16

Why not post your colouring here ? We'll all have a guess and we can see who got it right after you've been!Wink

QueenCadbury · 16/08/2013 17:50

If you're a winter come and join us.

Aquelven · 16/08/2013 17:57

That's definitely the worst part, meeting strangers when you don't feel remotely like your best with no make up! I had two strangers as well & they brought their family along to watch Shock

If you're a Spring you can join us..

Ok, I have naturally dark brown hair, but been fairly grey for a few years so dye it, it used to be more of a chestnut but have recently dyed it medium ash brown to get rid of some of the red and it does now look more like my natural colour. And it does make me look more of a winter and makes my eyes stand out more. Hazel eyes. So I am thinking autumn as I am fairly pale and have freckles, but the freckles are not dark brown blend into my skin rather than standing out on a white face, iyswim and my skin looks quite yellowy. I do tan eventually but would burn if I did not put sunscreen on, my veins are blue, so am confused as I thought the hazel eyes (with gold ring) would make me a warm (and therefore autumn) but the sallow skin and blue veins make me think I am cool. My hair colour makes me look better in winter colours I think, but before that I would have said I am an autumn. Confused - hence why I am taking the plunge! Anyone want to take a guess?

Brown Summer?
My consultant had your colouring & that's what she was.

BeginnerSAHM · 16/08/2013 18:28

Heh - love this guessing. No idea but I'll guess some sort of autumn. On the 'bluer' side. Enjoy!

I don't know what I am but I would love to have this done. I look terrible in pastel colours though, I know that already.

I had mid brown hair, green eyes and pale but yellowish not pinkish skin.

ILikeToClean · 16/08/2013 18:35

Aquelven - I have never even looked at spring and summer as I presumed you had to be fair haired! Interesting...

Ohhelp - it's £99, that includes refreshments and the session begins at 9.30 and ends at 3 so fairly long.

Sounds like I might make the consultant work for her money too with my weird mix of cool and warm! Smile

BeginnerSAHM · 16/08/2013 19:54

Make sure you can 'see' it and agree with her. I was misdiagnosed a few years ago - maybe because i have slightly weird colouring - but am definitely a spring; those colours make me look far younger/fresher and less blotchy/tired. I actually don't feel comfortable in quite a few of them (some purple and bright turquoise) but have to admit they make my skin look good... (And there are plenty of colours I do like in the, err, 'correct' palette for me.)

ChickenLickenSticken · 16/08/2013 23:01

Which consultant are you going to? I'm currently mulling over going too.

ChickenLickenSticken · 16/08/2013 23:02

Oh good luck and have fun

rockybalboa · 17/08/2013 04:52

I am intrigued by the concept of having my colours done, especially if it relates to hair colour too as I'm not sure my blonde is quite right. But the whole thing just sounds so old fashioned, please someone convince me why it's so good and I'll go. I'm sick of feeling frumpy and buying things that aren't right. My work wardrobe was revolutionised by a JL personal shopper 4 years ago but I think I need to apply the same to my casual wardrobe.

snowlie · 17/08/2013 05:25

I have weird colouring it doesnt seem to fit any category but I'm self diagnosed winter because of the colours that look good on me rather than my colouring. I suit black and pure white, blues, purple, forest green, reds, lemon. Mustard and beige make me look ill.

ILikeToClean · 17/08/2013 07:11

Rocky - it does sound old fashioned but from what I've read it does work and saves you making mistakes when shopping. I always end up buying something black as it's safe! Am hoping once I know my colours it will help me with a capsule wardrobe that all works together and helps me look good every day Grin

Chicken it's House of Colour in Essex, fairly long drive though so will be leaving soon!

Downfall · 17/08/2013 08:39

Rocky - I havent had my colours done, but will do if when I can afford it. I have read alot of the threads here (there are loads if you search), and self diagnosed as a summer, on the soft side.

Anyway, I have stopped wearing black, and keeping to muted, lighter colours, and I think I look much better. The main thing Ive noticed is I can keep my hair lighter because I'm wearing colours that flatter my skin. For the last few years Ive been trying to find a boring browny blonde tone that is more age flattering, and now realise that it was wearing the wrong awful colours for me that made my skin look sallow and my hair brassy. Even letting my grey grow through is ok, as when you're wearing the right colours you just see the whole 'you' rather than zoning in on things that jar the eye, iyswim?

Keen to hear how you get on OP!

JennySense · 17/08/2013 17:06

So what was the result ?

ILikeToClean · 17/08/2013 18:44

Hi, phew what a long session! All due to me, I was very hard to diagnose and first of all she thought I was an autumn as winter felt too cool but it just didn't feel right, we went through every season and finally I was diagnosed as a Deep Summer! So cool but on the softer side of winter, my stand out colours are airforce blue, sea green, smoked grape, plum, raspberry, burgundy and cherry red. It was such an interesting day. The other 2 ladies were fairly quickly to diagnose as an autumn and a winter! My head is a bit full of it all at the moment so haven't read all the blurb yet, will look at it tomorrow I think!

And get myself on the Summer thread!

Would recommend it thoroughly, it was interesting too that all 3 of us were already wearing colours in our spectrum!

cafenoir · 17/08/2013 19:23

Oooh sounds really good. I thought it would be more than £99 actually. Might go investigate where I can get it done. Do you usually go for those colours when you're buying clothes or makeup or were there lots you'd never thought would suit you?

ILikeToClean · 17/08/2013 19:40

I do have some of those colours, yes, she said trust your instincts as they're normally right, so we do tend to be drawn to those colours which suit us, but can get sidetracked by others' opinions, so a friend may suggest a colour is nicer on you but it may be that that's one of their best colours, so they're drawn to it but it won't be so good on you, iyswim? I do also have loads of black so will need to weed that out!

OP posts:
Aquelven · 17/08/2013 20:08

So you are a summer, but I guessed the wrong sort as I said you might be a brown summer.

ILikeToClean · 17/08/2013 20:19

Aquelven - you were the closest and I was very tricky to work out! I think a Deep Summer is quite unusual!
