Where do you love to shop for your kids? And what are your favourite brand/s?

I will start:

Bonpoint (although I'm more of a window shopper!)
Neck and neck
Amaia
La coqueta
Nanos
Mini a ture
Igloo
Alex & Alexa
Zara
Gap (obvs!)
Trotters
Jojo Maman bébé
Baby Caramel & Child
Marie Chantel
Petit bateau
Ilovegorgeous
Pure baby

Have I missed any good ones?

Gosh no, then. Alexa and Alexa sell lots of the brash, obvious label brands, in the main; Ralph Lauren, D & G, Juicy Couture and so on. Not my cup of tea at all. I have bought shoes (Bloch) and some, few, of their accessories, however.

Tootsa Macginty is a brilliant brand; lovely quality clothes, great fun designs & a fantastic ethic behind the company.

Also pretty reasonable - I will be buying lots but only just heard about them. (I don't work for them BTW!)

Elsiequadrille · 17/08/2013 16:33

I like Tootsa, and that most of the clothing is unisex.

QueenoftheHolly · 17/08/2013 16:39

Oh and Startsmart, which I like but can't really justify for an 8 month old with a caterpillar growth rate Grin

BTW - not sure why people get chippy about how others spend their money Confused. I imagine the chief execs of charities have been known to spend some of their exorbitant income frivolously from time to time.

Elsiequadrille · 17/08/2013 16:45

I don't know why it bothers people so much, how others choose to spend their money (not so much thinking of this thread even). I buy brands I like and know are good quality.

QueLinda · 17/08/2013 16:59

I love Bonpoint but can't afford it. Also love a website called Cyrillus which is French. I will buy DD dresses for special occasions from Chateu de Sable (French again).

I prefer the beige look to the funky Scandi brands on NordicKids but it's not very practical to wear a lot of beige and pastels when you are 14 months.

For every day it's Boden, JoJomamanbebe and Aarrekid for the nicer pieces and that is mixed with cheaper stuff from Mothercare and Sainsbury.

QueLinda · 17/08/2013 17:06

I forgot Brora. I love their stuff but really, it's hugely expensive. I currently would love to buy these dungarees for DD but really can't justify it.

Elsiequadrille · 17/08/2013 17:08

Lots of dry clean only with Brora, too. But such good quality.

Loving these suggestions! Some new ones here. Yes I can't say I only like one style... but i do sway towards the more classic children's clothing. I usually have DD in a pair of bloomers/shorts with either tights under or socks (Pom Pom) a pair of Mary Janes, t-bar or ankle boots (max and may, start right etc) or in summer some canvas shoes or salt water style sandals, a printed blouse (a-line + Peter Pan collar, smocked my fave) love liberty prints etc, and a cardigan/matinee jacket...chunky knits and fair isle cashmere mix is just 'pure' baby IMO. She almost always has a matching bow in her hair... Even though it's slow growing and only about 10cm long Blush
In winter I love pixie style bonnets/beanies and I currently have my eye on the mini A ture wang jacket for her.
Loving bonpoint's new a/w season- not at all beige IMO (not that that's a bad thing) gorgeous, muted colours. Plum, maroon, emerald..classic style and not pretentious.

4 dds here so I tend to spend on labels I know will last long. Without a doubt, Polarn o Pyret is a winner. I buy all their clothes in the sales, very cheap given they are being used constantly for about six years.

I also buy mini-a-ture. As the girls get older, I have been buying a bit of boden as well. I go to a big designer baby sale in london so get labels like no added sugar, christina rhodes, Scandinavian brands eg bamboo baby, lots of brilliant one-offs. Struggling now as dd1 gets older. She is almost seven and I feel the need to get less 'babyish' clothes.

imip · 17/08/2013 23:11

Oh, and I LOVE bissgard for shoes, usually get them in sales at igloo.

chattychattyboomba · 17/08/2013 23:17

Imip you must live near me Wink
Where is this designer sale you speak of and how can I partake?! Grin

It used to be in old st, but was last in canonbury. If you google junior style sale you'll get more info.it used to be really great. And very cheap. However, it looks as though they are 'relaunching'. Sometimes I could walk away spending over a hundred pounds (this would include raincoats, presents for briefs with newborns) and it used to be really the only place apart from po.p that I shopped. I haven't been this year and it had gone downhill a bit. Other times they were almost an outlet for store who had not sold all their mini-ture stock! Thence some occasions I could spend nothing. I also brought for a year or two ahead. I think you'd like it :-)

imip · 17/08/2013 23:27

Friends with newborns, not briefs with newborns. Stupid iPad and useless tired operator!

chattychattyboomba · 17/08/2013 23:30

Hehe thought it was some kind of new lingo Wink thanks for that info! Am going to check it out but also have a Bicester trip planned so hoping I'll get some good bargains there!

I love the Mini A Ture coats - bought them last winter for my girls although got complete bargains from a shop selling them BNWT on Ebay for about £30 each. They are amazing quality and fit, and although they don't fit now still look as new so I'll no doubt get my money back when I sell.

That's one thing about buying the expensive brands is that you do make good money on reselling - I had Petit Bateau raincoats for the girls, lasted about 18 months, and were bought in the sales for about £35 each. Sold them a couple of weeks ago for £25 each on Ebay. :)

I've bought a lot of stuff from Smallable which is a French website but has lots of very cool European brands. They have excellent sales. Have to say I also find Alex and Alexa unbearably brash - not sure who is out there buying Roberto Cavalli leopard print dresses for their daughter at £500 a snip - but they do have, as someone else has said, good shoes and accessories. Also LOVE Elias & Grace - beautiful beautiful stuff.

chattychattyboomba · 18/08/2013 17:17

Hehe yes the leopard print makes me Confused
But I bought a gorgeous wool swing dress and matching bonnet for DD last winter from Alex & Alexa- you have to be selective!
Checking out the French place now!
