I'm the queen of cold feet.
my trusted birkies are falling apart.

so, my next slippers need to be

  • warm
  • un offensive (so I can take the bins out without offending the neighbours)
  • comfy
  • wide (have very wide feet and a high arch)
  • supportive insole (old injury makes it painful to walk in too flat shoes)

that sounds a lot like birkies again...

Have got to say im a devotee to good old m and s ugg boot style ones. Not sure if they only do them at christmas. They are furry ankle boots with a zip on the front. They are quite sturdy, keep my feet toasty and look nice.

MousyMouse · 15/08/2013 19:04

thanks, will have a look when we go school uniform shopping.

I love ruby and ed slippers they are always heavily discounted in the sale.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/08/2013 20:04

Sheepskin? Celtic or Cornish or something like that.....

IsabelleRinging · 15/08/2013 20:13

I have some 'Just Sheepskin' bootees, a bit like ugg boots from House of Fraser, they are THE best slippers I have ever had. They fit all your criteria apart from the arch support.

GlassesDontSuitMe · 15/08/2013 20:49

Last year I bought some Celtic Sheepskin clog style slippers. They are the best thing I have ever bought. Lovely toastie feet for the first time I can remember, worth every penny! No arch support though.

Rocksie · 15/08/2013 22:52

Sorry to hijack your thread Mousy

Ruby - can I ask what the fit of the Ruby and Ed slippers are? (comebon big/small) I saw a lovely pair of cerise slippers in the sale. Bargain at only £9!

mrsyattering · 15/08/2013 22:56

another vote for just sheepskin for toastie feet...expensive but they last all year... coveting celtic ones for this year. I think there is a clog style with support?

anchovies · 15/08/2013 23:04

Another just sheepskin recommendation. I got.mine cheap but wouldn't hesitate to pay full price for them now.

Monty27 · 15/08/2013 23:04

In winter I use the most recent very much loved leather pumps that are too scruffy for outdoors and in summer I used very much loved sandals that are too scruffy for outdoors. It works for me :) superscrimper

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 15/08/2013 23:10

Moshulu are the top of the slipper pops. So warm and comfy.

cheapskatemum · 15/08/2013 23:14

Another vote for the Celtic sheepskin clog style. Mine are warm, don't mind accompanying the bin out to the end of our drive and have lasted 3 years. They only need replacing because DS1 wears them when he can't be bothered to look for his. Since his feet are 3 sizes bigger than mine, he's ripped the front of the left foot one grrr.

Nessalina · 15/08/2013 23:15

M&S also do fluffy on the inside ones with a kind of fluffy collar around the top, not boot style, just shoe style. They have memory foam insoles, so they're super snug Grin I've had then twice now, first pair lasted two years or so!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/08/2013 23:21

Moshulu get my vote (another one with wide feet, high insteps and needing arch support). They aren't shaped into the arch but the soles are nice and cushioned. I bought some about 4 years ago, live in them every winter and they are still going strong.

MousyMouse · 16/08/2013 08:31

the moshulu ones look really nice.so many styles!
maybe I will risk it.
I have a pair of old-man-slurfy-slippers from m+s but they are too flat and hurt my feet...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/08/2013 08:54

I've got the Bo ones in the bright pink. Because mine are old now the inside got matted and I put some sheepskin insoles inside them last year (bought for wellies but made them too tight). I just tried slipping my off the shelf orthotics into the slippers (under the sheepskin) and they still fitted and it made them more arch supporting. So that could be one option - I get my orthotics in Boots. I've worn orthotics for years and don't need them all the time now, so never bothered with them in slippers, but I might keep them in now Smile.

RubyLovesShopping · 16/08/2013 22:01

Rocksie I just buy my normal shoe size the fluffy lined ones always feel a bit tight at first but soon flatten down and are comfy. I also sometimes get the ruby+ed ones from Lakeland leather as they often have 10% off codes online even on sale stuff.

Elsiequadrille · 16/08/2013 22:06

I never wear slippers (I have indoor shoes [hmm) but I'd be seriously tempted by Celtic sheepskin if I ever decided to buy any.

MousyMouse · 16/08/2013 22:31

how do moshulu do size wise?
my feet vary between 6 and 7, birkies are size 6 but they come up big.

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 17/08/2013 23:07

My Bo ones were size 39, which is my normal size (I am between 5.5 and 6 UK size). They are fairly roomy even with socks on, and I have wide feet.

Moshulu have a chain of shops now, as well as selling at some larger garden centres, worth seeing if there is one near you?

buttercrumble · 18/08/2013 08:01

Celtic sheepskin have some lovely ones in at the moment ??

Hebemajeebe · 18/08/2013 08:06

Another vote for Ruby and Ed. I buy my usual size too.

amessagetoyouYoni · 18/08/2013 09:42

I got some fab ones in Gap 2 years ago, but they have finally fallen apart. They had a good range that year. Might be worth a look.

Next usually have a good range of cosy slippers in wide fittings.

NorbertDentressangle · 18/08/2013 09:48

Another vote for Moshulu here.

They also do the Birkie style mules with the shaped cork(?) footbed and leather uppers
