What things in your wardrobe would you be gutted to lose?

Just being nosey really Smile

I've got a friend who recently lost a jacket she's had for years and loves, and it got me thinking about what items I love more than any others. I have 2: a pair of tan court shoes that I wear all the time as they just go with anything, and a beautiful floaty top that I've worn many times to special events including my best friend's wedding and on the night I got engaged. Both just really suit me and I'd hate to ever have to try and replace them!

What items do you treasure the most in your wardrobe?

Most of it....takes me so long to find things that actually fit (I'm 6ft). Probably hard to find things (for me) like jeans, suit, winter coat

libertychick · 01/08/2013 15:26

Nothing currently!
I had the most gorgeous pair of light tan mid calf length boots that I bought 12 years ago and had to give in and throw out last year as they were beyond repair - have not seen anything like them since then and I still miss them.

santamarianovella · 01/08/2013 16:01

All of it! It took me years to obtain, I like to invest in good quality that lasts, and that comes with a price, specially coats, knitwear, and shoes.

foxysocks · 01/08/2013 16:03

almost all of it. i have spent a few years building it up into a workable wardrobe that i absolutely love. the only bits i don't care about are a few bought in the post-baby haze of DS.

Abra1d · 01/08/2013 16:04

My Ebay bargain: a MaxMara ecru linen jacket that goes with everything you might ever want to wear in the summer and makes it look smart.

Abra1d · 01/08/2013 16:04

Oh, and it cost just £30.

ScooseIsLoose · 01/08/2013 16:06

The shoes my mum bought me to wear on my wedding day 4 years ago these they are my most treasured possession and every time I look at them I feel happy Smile

OneLittleLady · 01/08/2013 16:09

My mums cheesecloth embroidered tunic top from the 60's. the cloths yellowed, it's got holes burnt in it from joss sticks but it's my most treasured piece of clothing especially since my passed away

Vibbe · 01/08/2013 16:11

My Hermes scarves (and jewelry), Mulberry bags and although I haven't used it yet, my wedding dress. Also, my vintage Burberry 100% cashmere cape (from charity shop) and a silk shirt my mum wore in the 70's.
The rest of my stuff are newer things with no sentimental value, so they'd be easier to replace.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 01/08/2013 16:15

I had a top that I loved but last year I caught it with a hot iron and burnt a hole in it Sad never iron after wine

My winter boots. They are scuffed and one has a small hole on the inside under the heel but I have had them 5 or 6 years now and despite looking every winter have never found another pair either as comfortable or as nice

newestbridearound · 01/08/2013 16:16

I would like to steal all of your lovely sounding clothes please Grin

Scoose those shoes are gorgeous- put a decimal point in between the 7 and 8 and you are closer to how much my wedding shoes cost! They are absolutely stunning.

Thanks newest the price has gone up when my mum bought them they were £650.00 but are obviously a classic to still be selling them 4 years later! I will never part with them Smile

Vanillapod1980 · 01/08/2013 16:48

My winter coat - worth £500 ish but I got it for £120. The warmest, most flattering coat I have ever worn.

A black Whistles body con dress which I got for £20 off EBay and looks amazing on - if I throw on that and some heels I feel so glam and confident

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/08/2013 17:03

My ancient brown boots. They've needed throwing away for at least three years, and I can only wear them when it's guaranteed not to rain, but I love them so much that I just can't throw them away. I've been trying and trying to replace them, but nothing has come close.

Westwood black dress - super useful and I feel like I have a tiny waist when I wear it.

Chocolate leather biker jacket.

Tan leather clutch.

borraxohastaelalmanacer · 01/08/2013 19:37

I had some amazing brown leather knee high boots that DH bought me years and years ago when we started dating. They were sexy, comfortable and versatile and when the heel finally snapped off (whilst walking to the tube) last year, I felt properly gutted.

Other than handbags, I have a camel wool Burberry coat that I bought last year which cost a disgusting amount but I hope to wear for many more years. I also have the dress that I wore for a celebratory lunch the day after DH proposed - it's very dated now and doesn't even fit me anymore but I couldn't bear to throw it out.

MarshaBrady · 01/08/2013 19:40

Quite a big of it- but mostly Lanvin dress, Stella M coat and dress and Celine bag and orange cashmere jumper.

AmberNectarine · 01/08/2013 20:26

Jimmy Choo bag
Alexander Wang Rocco
Leopard print Mulberry (DH gave this to me on our wedding day)
Louboutins
Goldsign Virtual skinny jeans (have 3 pairs as they are AMAZING)
Vivienne Westwood skirt (like Remus' dress it makes my waist look tiny)

BrandyAlexander · 01/08/2013 20:31

I am not sentimental about clothes but its taken a lot of time and investment in my current look so would be a total pain to replace. I do have a pair of shoes that I would weep about though if I lost them. They're Jimmy Choo Swaroski crystal pumps. Stunning, very well made (bought about 8 years ago before Choos got crap) And very comfortable. 4" heels and can dance in them all night. They cost £950 back then but has been well worth it. They are my never fail big occasion shoes.

MarshaBrady · 01/08/2013 20:31

And my watch, I'd be so upset if I lost that. I thought I had once and the relief when I found it under a bed was immense.

ToastedTeacakes · 01/08/2013 20:31

Old Topshop Baxter jeans.
Mulberry Lily.
Isabel Marant jacket.
Navy wool coat, Zara.
White broderie dress by GAP.

BrandyAlexander · 01/08/2013 20:34

Oh jewelry is a different matter. I am totally sentimental about it. I still wear the first ever ring I was bought by my then boyfriend. It was £20 from RatnersGrin I would be absolutely beyond gutted if I lost it. He turned out to be a total dick but its still a nice memory.

MarshaBrady · 01/08/2013 20:39

Novice Grin. I have a Petit Lapin t from my first boyfriend. I LOVE it and have never thrown it out. It looks as if it would fit a ten year old, however.

MarshaBrady · 01/08/2013 20:43

Actually I probably should just throw it out, not sure why I went all caps there.

MrsCampbellBlack · 01/08/2013 20:44

Provided I had the money to replace any lost items, I wouldn't care that much about losing any item of clothing or shoes. But I cull my wardrobe very regularly and am pretty unsentimental about stuff.

CoTananat · 01/08/2013 20:44

this dress

I've worn it to death. I love it. And it's strangely practical - I have climbed trees wearing this dress. I would buy another if they would sell one to me. I just love it.
