What things in your wardrobe would you be gutted to lose?

Just being nosey really Smile

I've got a friend who recently lost a jacket she's had for years and loves, and it got me thinking about what items I love more than any others. I have 2: a pair of tan court shoes that I wear all the time as they just go with anything, and a beautiful floaty top that I've worn many times to special events including my best friend's wedding and on the night I got engaged. Both just really suit me and I'd hate to ever have to try and replace them!

What items do you treasure the most in your wardrobe?

Blush It would probably be the garment that my DDs refer to as 'your tramp coat'. I don't think it's that bad - its a sort of cross between long cardi and coat and it's very comfy, thank you!

And I have one Maria Grachvogel lacy cardigan that looks fab with anything. I've had it years.

Amber - your waist IS tiny. Mine, on the other hand, is not.

InMyShreddies · 01/08/2013 21:14

My Celine bag. I don't even use it that much and it's quite battered, but I bought it to celebrate getting my dream job. I'm now a SAHM so just take it out and stroke it occasionally.

MarshaBrady · 01/08/2013 21:18

Which Celine is it Shreddies?

Mine is a bit battered now, if I could replace it I'd be ok with that.

I have 2 Rundholz Black Label bubble dresses, one black, one kanji that are the most comfortable and flattering dresses ever. They were not cheap but I have never regretted forking out the cash for them and I would be gutted to lose them

QueenCadbury · 02/08/2013 20:12

I'd be gutted in I lost any of my clothes but in a ' that's a pain in the arse' way, rather than an upset way. However if I lost certain items of jewellery I'd be devastated. Namely my wedding/engagement/eternity rings, my charm bracelet, the bracelet dh bought me as a wedding gift and the first necklace he bought me.

NomDeOrdinateur · 02/08/2013 20:20

My 3 knitted linen 3/4 sleeve t-shirts from Zara, which I wear every week because they make any outfit warm and sophisticated;
my purple shimmer and black patent 8 hole Dr Martens, which feel like an extension of my feet because they're so comfortable;
my string of black/peacock pearls which are AAA lustre but beautifully off-round and so unusual to look at;
my engagement and wedding rings;
my trollbeads bracelet
the Radley handbag that my DH bought me to celebrate when we found out that I'd been awarded funding for my MA (very rare in my subject, so neither of us had anticipated that I'd get it);
my black silk velvet blazer;
my navy blue wool military coat which I got from Zara last Xmas, after searching for years to find one in the right style.

Marsha - it's a pre-Phoebe one, I wanted a beautiful and not-obvious designer bag and didn't have a budget in mind, wandering round Harrods aimlessly - but fell in love with it. It's really uncommon too, although it's funny that Celine went stratospheric a year or so after I bought it.

It's the Nautil in tan. The leather is gorgeous, quite thin crackled patent leather and silver hardware. Perfect work bag so not in use much now, also I did use it as a workhorse so it's quite battered. Great bag though and fair value.

MarshaBrady · 02/08/2013 20:41

That's really lovely Shreddies. I agree about Celine. I love the understatement.

I love to get a P Lim one some day too.

mystaplerisevil · 02/08/2013 20:45

some sendra boots that i bought that i really couldn't afford and i just gaze at them scared to tanish them with wear Grin

french connection white coat that i am also scared to wear but gazing at it makes me happy

cathpip · 02/08/2013 20:54

My relaxed skinny jeans
Moloh boots, they are 13 years old and soooooo comfy
A 1950's Dior style cocktail dress with matching shoes that my dh brought me on our honeymoon.
Clearly my wedding dress :)

InMyShreddies · 02/08/2013 20:59

Mystapler - are you someone who saves your nice clothes 'for best' an never end up wearing them, perchance? Grin

Are they Sendra for Wrap ones? I love these but £££, hoped they would go into sale but nada.

mystaplerisevil · 02/08/2013 21:07

yes i am Grin i have \link{http://www.wraplondon.co.uk/fashion-Z361-SMWB/boots/cutwork-boot.htm\these ones} they just look so nice and the soles are beautiful. if i wore them i would get them mucky in five minutes Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/08/2013 22:20

Ooh they are lovely. If they were mine, I'd wear them every day until they fell to pieces (and then cry). :)

scarlet76 · 02/08/2013 22:29

I love fashion but have no sentimental attachment to clothes. I have regular culls and get rid of everything I have grown tired of.

Am much more sentimental about jewellery. I have my great grandmothers gold wedding ring which I adore and often wear. I have a long string of pearls DH bought me for my 30th. I have various charm type bracelets that I wear everyday - not expensive but I love.

AlwaysSleepingBeauty · 02/08/2013 23:10

I have a beautiful peach chiffon maxi skirt that seems to go with everything and so many seasons. Unfortunately it seems to have some grey/black smudges that don't want to come out, if anyone has any tips I will be forever I'm your debt.

newestbridearound · 03/08/2013 12:25

I hadn't really thought about jewellery, but I agree with everyone who has said they are much more attached to that than their clothes. I'd be upset to have to replace the couple of items I said in my opening post, but I'd be absolutely devastated if I lost my wedding and engagement rings, my 18th birthday ring, graduation necklace or trollbead bracelet.

My MOTO denim jacket that is years old but a perfect fit (well, now I've lost weight Grin) and the perfect dark-but-faded-in-all-the-right-places colour.

bunnymother · 03/08/2013 18:05

I like all my clothes and shoes, but if any/all were lost, I would be dreading the hassle of replacing them, rather than genuinely mourning them.

My jewellery is another matter - I would be sorry to lose any of it. Possibly because I see the pieces as permanent, whereas clothes usually seem to date. Also, some of my jewellery was bought to mark certain occasions or achievements, whereas the clothes are acquired just because I like them at the time.
